Is this a Correct Time to Use 302 Redirects?
-
Hi Mozzers!
We are going through a rebranding process, and as of this morning we have 3 domains, all with identical content.
For example (not real domain names):
www.fantastic.com
www.fantasticfireworks.com
www.fireworks.comWe are using 3 domains to ease the rebranding transition.
We currently only want people to visit 'www.fantastic.com,' and if they visit the other 2 domains we want them redirected.
Since we will be using these other domains eventually, should we use 302 redirects instead of 301s? The other domains are new and do not have any domain authority or sites linking in, so we do not need to worry about link juice.
Does it really matter what type of redirect we use?
Thanks!

I'm with Highland on this one. Once your new sites are up and running submit them via GWT to ensure that they get found.
301 for now.
-
Shouldn't have any negative effects. If you want to make the sites live I would create the sites and then link to them. The spiders should do the rest.
-
Hmm, that was my first instinct, but I don't want to hinder the new sites in any way when we use them later.
Would using a 301 redirect now have any negative effect after we delete it and want to use the domain?
-
I would still 301 the domains. 302s are a dubious use because the HTTP standard lists them as "temporary" (which means... what?). A 301 is considered permanent. All the use cases for 302s as a SEO tool (i.e. localized subdomains) seems to have fallen by the wayside as Google now only indexes the target site, not the 302.
It's likely that Google now treats 302 like 301 for indexation purposes (a 302 is not a real page anyways). There were serious problems years ago (see 302 hijacking) when they didn't. I wouldn't take any chances, however, and I would use a 301, which is well known to work.

Need advice on redirects
Hi, I have new web addresses for my subpages. None if them have external links. Should I do redirects to the new pages or just leave the old pages in 404 and let google crawl and rank the new page. I am asking because my current pages don’t have a good ranking and I am thinking starting with a clean url is better. Thank you,

Did We Implement Structured Data Correctly?
Our designer/developer recently implemented structured data on our pages. I'm trying to become more educated on how it works since I'm the SEO marketing specialist on the team and the one that writes and publishes the majority of our content. I'm aware it's extremely important and needs to be done, I just don't know how to do it yet. The developer was on our team for over a year, we recently let him go. Now, I'm going through all the pages to make sure it's done correctly. I'm using the structured data testing tool to look at the pages and have been playing with the structured data markup helper. I would REALLY appreciate it if one of my fellow MOZ fans & family can help me determine if it's done correctly. We do not currently have any schema plugs installed that I know of. So I'm not sure how he implemented the Schema code. I would like to know what I need to do moving forward to the additional content we publish as well as what to do to correctly implement Schema if not already. When I manually look at one of our FAQ pages I see multiple schema data formats detected... I'm not sure if we're supposed to have multiple or just one----> https://www.screencast.com/t/TjHphL7jsI I also noticed in the Question schema data for that same page... the accepted answer is empty. Redirect Issue in .htaccess
Hi, I'm stumped on this, so I'm hoping someone can help. I have a Wordpress site that I migrated to https about a year ago. Shortly after I added some code to my .htaccess file. My intention was to force https and www to all pages. I did see a moderate decline in rankings around the same time, so I feel the code may be wrong. Also, when I run the domain through Open Site Explorer all of the internal links are showing 301 redirects. The code I'm using is below. Thank you in advance for your help! HTTPS 301 Redirect Question
Hi, I've just migrated our previous site (siteA) to our new url (siteB) and I've setup 301 redirects from the old url (siteA) to the new (siteB). However, the old url operated on https and users who try to go to the old url with https (https://siteA.com) receive a message that the server cannot be reached, while the users who go to http://siteA.com are redirected to siteB. Is there a way to 301 redirect https traffic? Also, from an SEO perspective if the site and all the references on Google search are https://siteA.com does a 301 redirect of http pass the domain authority, etc. or is https required? Thanks.

How do i fix temporary redirects from Volusion?
I have around 20 temporary redirects that i can not really change. they look like this: http://www.bestfitbybrazil.com/reviewhelpful.asp?ProductCode=PANT+PA4069GRAFFITI&ID=17&yes=yes/login.asp See attached As you can see they are from LOGIN.ASP. This are system calls. I think the last thing I tried was blocking them in my robottxt file. but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Am I being effected by these redirects? How will Google look at them? QmiQcD6

Big 301 Redirect Help!
Hey guys I need a little help with setting up a big 301. Background: It's a bit of a mess as the old site is a total mess after being online for 10 years plus. It has html and php pages, and a mod rewrite to redirect old html links to the newer php version of those pages. It's now moving to a new site and as the domain name and URL structure has changed we can't use any fancy regex and have to do a page to page redirect. There are 1500 pages to redirect. However, the old site has thousands of linking root domains, and some of these are to the old html pages (which currently redirect to the php pages) and some to the newer php pages. Question: My initial plan was to leave the mod rewrite and only redirect the php pages. That means 1500 individual redirects instead of 3000 if I individually redirect both the php and html pages. I'm not sure what's best to be honest. We don't really want multiple hops in the redirect (html>php>new site), but surely 1500 redirects is better than 3000! Does anyone have any advice on which option may be best, or even a better option? Thanks 🙂

Do you use your own Blog networks?
Do you use a network of sites you own for links to your clients in your seo efforts? I see so many seo companies doing this from such junk sites with all their clients in the blog roll, it seems totally crazy. It seems this stuff works do any of you do this if so how do you keep it white hat?
