Suspicious Link Directory
-
I found a link directory with good PageRank and MozRank. The page I would be featured on has good page authority of about 41. Their editorial guidelines appear sound.
However, I just discovered that they have a family of directories (about 7-8) that all look very similar in site appearance. I suspect that they are all hosted on the same servers and run by the same company. Would this family of directories be at risk of being flagged by Google as a link network and have all their links devalued?
Thanks Mozzers!

Link directories adds almost no value today. It is our experience. Years ago they were a great ressource.

Just wanted to leave a quick note saying that SEOmoz has upgraded the Link Directory! You can view a post Cyrus wrote with more information about the directory updates and link building via directories at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/seo-link-directory-best-practices

The worst that could happen is that the link is given little to no value, so you really have nothing to lose. Whenever I get an opportunity to grab a link, I'll usually get it, assuming the site isn't pure spam or related to gambling/porn/etc.
-
Yeah there's loads of directories owned by the same people. It wouldn't surprise me if half of directory owners out there had multiple directories, and they would often a similar design.

If you want to private message me the URL you are considering I can give some advice but based on what you've given so far, I would say go for it, there is not much a link can do to hurt you, unless you are paying for a link, in that case I would say don't do it.

Links not showing
Hi, we have been putting links to our website www.caffeinemarketing.co.uk from other sites we are connected to. Although these sites are up and running and have been crawled, the links are not showing up on mot. What else do I need to do? Is it anything to do with whether I put http://www. or just www. Please can someone advise.

Should I try to earn that link?
Hi everyone, I am new to Moz and here is my first question. I have just launched a website that took me a year to develop and I am in search for great links, following Moz advices. However, theory and practice are certainly two different things... Although my site is not about stock exchange markets, it does contain an area related to the subject. My goal is to attract links towards my main topic via that area. I have found that website: zonebourse.com (I am working on the French market)

According to the Moz tools, page authority and domain authority are really good. Also, I believe I can do a very link on my side. However, should I contact them ? They have an area in the footer for link building, but it doesn't look to me as "quality work" I have been looking for contextual links, but can't find any My question is should I try to earn that link, considering that according to Moz guidelines, it may not be a quality link, but looking at the harsh reality, for such a "good" partner, it could be it or nothing? It would be great to hear a few opinions from the Moz community. Many thanks !0 -
Do footer links pass less link juice?
One of my best inbound links for PA and DA happens to be a footer link, curious if it's less valuable or has any value at all.

over the past year so around every corner I discover something new. One the
things I have found are that majority of links to the site is coming from an
outside blog but digging deeper I found that the blog is actually on the same

Are link exchanges bad for SEO these days? Also, is adding my site to free yet relevent directory sites a bad idea?
I operate a computer services company in Eugene, Oregon called "Eugene Computer Geeks". We do a lot of web design, and need incoming links to my site very badly. Lately I've been asking clients if they would link to me, but they almost always ask for a link in return. If we exchange links, does Google penalize my site? Would the incoming link be better for SEO if I'm not linking back to the other site? ALSO Is it possible that manually submitting my site to free, yet relevant web directories would hurt my rankings? It's not a big deal to me if it doesn't help my rankings, as I see a benefit to having my site listed, but wanted to make sure there wasn't a chance that it would hurt my rankings. As far as I know all the directories are free from SPAM, porn, warez, or anything like that. Thanks!

Has anyone seen positive results from using Submiteaze to submit to directories? I know an SEM agency that uses it for clients' link building campaigns, but I don't know if it is worth buying. Are there better alternatives?
I would like to start a link building initiative at my company for a new website, and would like to know if the value of the links built using Submiteaze would be worth the money.

Article Links
I write and publish artcles. Typically I publish them on a few top article sites like EZineArticles. The articles then get picked up by other sites, often numbering in the hundreds. All of the articles are published with a link back to our website using a keyword. Are there any SEO risks in this type of link proliferation?
