Can someone tell me how in the heck this site is ranking?
-
Just saw a huge update on the Serps for "SEO Company" and "Seo Firm " and this site has tons of big Google no's no's going to it. www.seospecialists.co it has links coming from Porn and Gambling sites. It is heavily over optimized for both keywords.
I won't cry the sky is falling[SEO is broke] but I am curious to know why Google thinks they are worthy to rank that high.
-
well in that case .. it does not look like accidental at all .. but i wonder why on earth they are doing this.. don't they know that it will backfire their website sooner or later..
-
Hi Matt, they are far from accidental, but are certainly helping this website in my professional opinion to rank. Especially since many of them are not sitewide and only on the homepage of client sites.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Todd -
But when the links are in the Footer and it says SEO by them I don't think it was an accidental thing

_Just because the website has got bunch of spammy links from porn and gambling sites does not necessarily mean that the website will not rank high. Moreover, I personally do not think the people working there would not be that idiot to get link backs from porn sites. Probably, negative SEO could be in the action; you never know. And as it appears, author rank has a role to play here. _

Hi Matt. Possibly something black hat is going on, but from a pure metrics standpoint alone its possible for this website to rank well in Google.com with those links and factors, in my opinion.
Plenty of SEO companies utilize client footer links to generate positive rankings and are successful at it.
-
On the surface, yes that is true. What I find really interesting is when I put the site on Ahrefs.com it was showing that almost none of their links are site wide, AND in contrast, may of the pages on those sites are showing up to be in fact site wide.
Something is fishy with them. Definitely something black hat is going on with the site.

Hi Matt,
1. This website shows a total of 3,413 linking root domains in OSE, a DA (domain authority) of 71/100, and a PA (page authority) of 76/100
2. A considerable number of the links pointed at this website utilize exact match or associated / related long term targeted phrases. Many of the links are from client homepages.
3. They link to their homepage extensively in the footer using keywords.
4. They have a lot of content, although I am not a judge of the quality of content they are publishing.
Those 4 factors are enough to rank well, if not at the top, in many niches.
Hope this helps!
Todd

Page Speed or Site Speed which one does Google considered a ranking signal
I've read many threads online which proves that website speed is a ranking factor. There's a friend whose website scores 44 (slow metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Despite that his website is slow, he outranks me on Google search results. It confuses me that I optimized my website for speed, but my competitor's slow site outperforms me. On Six9ja.com, I did amazing work by getting my target score which is 100 (fast metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Coming to my Google search console tool, they have shown that some of my pages have average scores, while some have slow scores. Google search console tool proves me wrong that none of my pages are fast. Then where did the fast metrics went? Could it be because I added three Adsense Javascript code to all my blog posts? If so, that means that Adsense code is slowing website speed performance despite having an async tag. I tested my blog post speed and I understand that my page speed reduced by 48 due to the 3 Adsense javascript codes added to it. I got 62 (Average metric score). Now, my site speed is=100, then my page speed=62 Does this mean that Google considers page speed rather than site speed as a ranking factor? Can't get my site recognised for keyword
My site prettycool.co.uk and primary we sell fascinators, the problem is I can't get the word fascinators to be listed by Google. We are on the 1st page for most colours ie. pink fascinators, blue fascinators etc. but for the term fascinators even if we fetch we are listed for a couple of hours and then disappear. I've checked for keyword stuffing but our site sell fascinators and we need to have this word in our site and other sites have a lot more references to the term and are listed on the 1st or 2nd pages. We used to be listed on page 1 for many years but the last 2 or 3 years dropped back to page 4 but now nothing. Any help or suggestions would be fantastic!

Why is this site ranking higher?
We've put a fair bit of effort into delivering value here: https://lewescountycars.co.uk/ But a search for "Lewes taxis" or "taxis Lewes" puts this site above us: https://www.lewestowntaxis.co.uk/ As you can you see, this is a tiny site that we outperform in most ways.... what can we do to rank above it that we haven't already done? Thanks in advance - Gerard.

Can You 301 Unwanted Links to Another Site?
I am trying to clean up my link profile, and have noticed that a I have a lot of crappy inbound links linking to some of my old pages. And those old pages have since been 301'ed to current pages. My question is, is it worth trying to 301 those old pages, and thus those crappy links, to another website? Would this do anything to clean up my link profile?

Google is keeping very old title tags in the SERPs for my site. How can I fix this?
Hi Around 6 months ago a site I work with changed its brand. One company became two. Despite changing the title when a new site went live around 6 months ago Google still picks up the old title for certain search results relevant to the old title. When a search result is relevant to the new title it shows that. It's very frustrating as we are trying to re-brand and do not want the old brand name showing for some very important search results. Thanks in advance for your help Paul

Why am I ranking for this
In need of some second opinions here. I have a domain softboxsystems.co.uk which ranks for the keyword sofrigam. It is not meant to! Have posted previously on this but to cut long story short, the clients .com started to rank for this term and then they lost the contract to supply the services so got a legal request to stop ranking for it (it had been seoed so was ranking 100% on off page issues). The client is a UK company so they decided that they would block the .com from google and use the co.uk domain for a period of time instead while they worked on deranking the domain. The .com domain was therefore blocked from the index, the .co.uk homepage would not rank for anything then it turned out that they had placed a canonical tag link from the .co.uk to the blocked .com!!! On my suggestion this was removed and the homepage of the .co.uk appeared in google in a matter of a couple of days (other pages on the site were indexed but not the home). Now, somehow the co.uk domain homepage is ranking for the banned term. I have checked open link and there are not any links pointing to the domain with the anchor of sofigram, nor is the term mentioned onsite. I now have the client panicking on the phone to get the page out of google again asap before the competitors legal people get wind of it. I am still trying to deindex the .co.uk homepage in the short term. I have readded the canonical back to the .com as that worked at not getting that page indexed previously. The main issue I have is how on earth I am ranking for this term in the first place and more importantly how do I stop from ranking for this term! The only terms I can find as anchor text in the moz tools are the keywords I have been seoing for help hehe thanks
