Why is GG analytics showing so much (not provided)?
-
is there a better analytics tool (preferably free) that will show the actual keywords that drive traffic to a website or are we doomed to deal with (not provided) as a result of the Big G's retarded privacy policy? - seems they cant make up their minds as to whether they are going to take care of site owners or advertisers - but they should really take a stand and stop putting out half-ass results
if anyone has any helpful ideas that may ease my pain i would be forever in your debt.

thanks for the link - i will try that hack - looks simple enough

Unfortunately, (not provided) keywords has been a growing trend, and can be expected to grow for the foreseeable future.
One thing you can do to try to get some data out of (not provided) traffic is to look at the landing page, to get a better idea of what kind of term drove the traffic. This is a good resource for getting a better handle on (not provided):

Back in October 2011, Google introduced SSL search as default search for all logged in users. There's no way to get search query data for such users. For technology oriented sites, I have seen that number to go as high at 80% and others vary.
Unfortunately, no option exists / it's not possible to get the data. It would defeat the purpose of an HTTPS search.

Google Analytics, Wordpress, Sumo - who to trust
Something is wrong. I have a website that according to Google Analytics gets zero relevant clicks, with most of the clicks it does get coming from Russia. Wordpress says it gets a hundred or so visitors a month, with most traffic going to the pages that I know rank. Sumo says the heat map got 76 clicks. How would you figure out what's really going on?

Tasks for Google Analytics training
Hi Mozzers, I'm delivering some Google Analytics (Fundamentals level) training, and trying to make it was fun and as interesting as possible... which is quite a challenge when it comes to GA. I was just wondering if you're aware of training tasks, or interactions, I could bring into this kind of training session? The group are particularly interested in user journeys and the effectiveness of content. Thanks!

Intranet analytics
Anyone got any suggestions for good intranet analytics? We can't use Google Analytics because the ga.js JavaScript will only work if the intranet can be accessed using a domain name that is fully qualified, but ours is http://intranet. Also, we don't want user data sent to a remote server via the ga.js script. Our intranet is built on SharePoint if that helps. Thanks

Google Analytics Tracking Code Queries
Hello, I have taken on a new client who has Google Analytics installed. The tracking code is set to 'single domain'. Recently they added a mobile site using a sub-domain (m.website.com) which means that Google Analytics is not picking up this traffic. I want to revise the account so that I have a master account (raw data) and then profiles for the mobile site, main domain (www.website.com) and one other for a sub-domain that they are using. I am aware that there is mobile specific tracking code however I thought it would be easier (re conversions/goals/eCommerce tracking) to not use this and by changing the account to 'multiple domains' we could also get data for another sub-domain that they are using . My questions are: Am I right to want to use individual profiles over web properties. If not please explain why. When installing the tracking code (where the profile number is changing) I believe that I need to add that code with the changing profile number to the sub-domain sections. So my question is a) is that correct, and b) if I use a profile number on a sub-domain section will the master account still gather the data for the main URL as well as all sub-domains. If I change the master account from using 'single domain' tracking code to 'multiple domain' tracking code will this affect historical data? Will I lose the data? When changing from 'single domain' tracking to 'multiple domain' tracking does this affect eCommerce tracking? Or do we only need to be adding the additional lines of tracking code that allow sub-domains to be tracked? The web developers are using asynchronous code however half is in the and the other half is at the bottom of the source code. Given that traffic is being reported in the Google Analytics account should I have any concerns that the code is split? I have done a lot of reading but seem to be going around in circles, so your help is much appreciated! Thanks,

If a site has 301 redirect - Will the Analytics of the target site show it as a referral or as the traffic source it came from?
Lets say I have a site www.abc.com and I rederect that site to www.xyz.com. If ABC.com is still ranking for keyword X and orgnically someone searches for X and they click on the ABC.com listing - In the XYZ site analytics (which is the target site) does it show as organic or referall, direct? Thanks

Google Analytics Goal Funnel Visualization Issue
I've setup a goal funnel but am having an issue when I look at the funnel visualization. It doesn't appear to be recognizing the 1st step of the funnel that I've defined in the goal edit page. The "Property Listing page view" is located at /listings/xxx where xxx is the number of the property. Within the funnel, I've added /listings/*, but when I go to see the funnel visualization, I see 0 counts for this step (even though it clearly shows on the entrance page to the left "/listings/622, etc". I've attached a .pdf with a few images to help make this clearer. Any thoughts? CRD-Funnel.pdf
