How long does it take for new links to show up?
-
Hi all,
We just kicked off our first infographic to start a content marketing strategy:
I'm wondering how long it will take for SEOMoz to add this to our link profile, and I suppose more importantly, how long it will take Google to recognize the links that have been generated from it.
The response has been pretty good and I'm excited to see the results.
Thanks!

Charles,
Thanks for the kudos on the site design. We've spent the better half of January sprucing it up with bread crumbs, service pages, a new layout, the custom illustrations, etc.
The goal was to increase user experience while also improving the SEO friendliness of the site. It was a lot of (positive) change and that's why I'm excited to start seeing some results and fruits of our labor!
I didn't know that you could submit a url to WMT... in fact, we haven't been using WMT very much at all. I just poked around and found out how to do that, so that's done. Thanks!
As for backlinks, we did get a fair number of quality ones (and one coming early this week from eHarmony's blog yet too)... so I guess I'll just have to be patient for that to show up in OSE. We're still a pretty new SEOMoz account, so I'm just a bit antsy to start seeing some of our metrics improve.
I guess I just need to be a bit patient
Thanks for the response!

For Google it is usually almost instant. Once they crawl your site and other sites with your content it will be indexed.
As for SEOmoz, OSE usually updates once or twice a month. You can check the update calendar here.

But FYI SEOmoz doesn't get all the links, they only scrape a little percentage of total links.
You can also check Google WMT for links to us to see if they update that information.

Resource linking
Is a resource linking page a good way to build backlinks? Do I need to ask permission of the site I am linking? & If do build a resource page do I have to keep in mind keyword density rule, not to stuff too many links on page? I see one of my competitors using a "resource page" and linking to some high athority sites, (which I know they have not asked permission) b/c they are big name site, NFL, NHL, ESPN etc. Any suggestions much appreciated! Thank you!!!

OSE shows links on sites but can't find links
Hi mozzers, I'm cleaning up our backlink profile and looking up anchortexts in OSE. I downloaded and selected one anchortext. However when I go to the sites OSE found, I can't find the links. I look in the source code and onpage keywords. Is it because of my lack of skills that I can't find the links 🙂 or isn't OSE working properly.

Links in the Classifieds
We rent apartments. One way we use to find clients is to advertize these apartments in Classifieds. Generally, we use free ads. Sometimes, for very popular sites ( like Kijiji), we pay so our ads can be seen first. Could this be a problem with Google? Some sites send us clients, many of them never do. We keep putting ads there because of their PR. What is the worth of this kind of links? Thanks for your answers.

For a new site, does it matter which sites I get back links from first? I.e., are the first back links more important than later ones?
I've heard that when a site is new, the sources from which it gets its first back links are very important -- that the early links are more important for ranking than later links. Is this true. If so, what would be some good places to get these very first links? Thanks.

Many competitor's backlinks are in content anchor links. Ho do I get these same links?
Hi I managed to open up OSE. I'm finding that much of the competition's backlinks are in content anchor text links. Am I supposed to get backlinks from these same pages using the same anchor text but linking back to my page or is that allowed? If so, how do I get these in content blog post links? Thanks. Sunil.
