Blog Roll Links - A good or bad thing ?
-
I Use Blog roll links all the time but recently they seem to be having a lower effect on listings. Is there a limit on Blog roll links you place on a blog.
Internal blog roll links and external blog roll links.
Also do you rename your blog roll to something such as popular links like we do ?

Strange I didn't notice that. (Maybe due to the fact I didn't have that many blogrolls to have significant impact). The only way to find out is to test it.

I do feel the benefits of links in blogrolls has weakened over the past 3 months since the change.

Blog rolls are great when used as they should be, keep the title, but as soon as you start seeing strange mix of websites in there (casino, custom essays and life insurance) better stay out of it for it could turn nasty on you.

I'm a big believer in blog rolls but not necessarily for SEO. If you've got a blog that provides really good content getting on the blog roll of other bloggers in your niche can really help drive traffic to your site. Readers of blogs still use blog rolls to find other sites they'd like to visit. This is especially true of for blogs that serve a small niche were there are not lots of blogs that can easily be found.
In regards to SEO I think blog rolls would have the effect you'd expect: each link provides a very little benefit. If your blogs title has some keywords in it this effect can be greater. Still it's nice to get links from lots of different domains. Lots of bloggers list blogs alphabetically so in theory there's a benefit to having a new earlier in the alphabet. Other blog rolls show blogs who've most recently published an article first.
You could try harder to get on blog rolls that are listed in the sidebar of each post of a blog vs one that just lists all it's favorite blogs on one page. This would create lots of links from one domain to your site. That said, I'm not the value of this strategy. If I were Google I'd be trying to minimize the incremental benefits of tons of links in the sidebar that point to different domains.

There are 10 links on page that point to this page where they exist (link to the page itself). Does it influence on ranking? And what's happening to link juice? How does it spread? Is there any loss of it?

Should I ask sites that link to me to update links that redirect?
I have found some links to my site that go through a single 301 redirect to get to my site. Should I contact these websites to ask them to update the link, or is that not worth the time?

When leaving guest posts on blogs, are blog profiles such as Disqus relevant for SEO?
In other words, instead of the comment linking back to the money site it is being linked back to a blog profile which contains a link to the money site. Is this still as effective?

Multiple Links from High Ranking Site Vs. Links from Multiple Domains - What's More Important?
I understand it is important to get links from many quality domains. Currently, I do have links from top domains (PR, Trust) and it I can get more from (high rank) pages on these same domains. Would it be better to focus on expanding my reach (find additional domains to link from) or to continue to build links from the current domains I have a connection with? What is weighted more? I realize doing both is important, but trying to figure out how to best use my time. Thanks! David
