Ranking 3 times in SERP for non Branded Keyword
-
Anyone else seeing this?
It just changed as of a few hours ago because it wasn't showing up this morning.
One of our competitors is now ranking 2 times in the 3 pack and once in the regular SERP for a non branded keyword. "service/product + city."
They have different:
- Names
- phone numbers - 1 local, 1 -888
- addresses
it looks like they don't have a rel/301 set up on the home page and they have a www site and non www site set up as 2 different accounts.
One of the results is a Google Plus page and one is a Google Places/local page.

As per the info you sent via PM... this has managed to be taken care of via GMM (google map maker) at least for now.
Some GMM pros marked the 'other' 2 listings as duplicate of the first, official listing.
I see that the editors/reviewers first changed the addresses of the offending POIs (point of interest) to match the original listing... and also added extra phone numbers into the original listing (to help show Google that it is all the same business.)
Search again... and you'll most likely find that the dealership only has one G+ Local Page appearing.

I would recommend reporting this as you can.
Otherwise, there are other ways to get Google's attention (and the Map reviewing community) by using http://www.google.com/mapmaker
PM me if you need more info on that.

Yes they are without a doubt doing this to dominate the serp. In the time that i wrote this I actually dug deeper and found that they have a 4th website that forwards to their inventory as well.
It crazy because this is a good size city with a keyword that get 3200+ monthly searches. And they are managing to pull this off.

This is an interesting scenario. Do you think they are doing this on purpose to get more exposure in the SERPs, or is it a matter of IYP (Internet Yellow Page) listing overload? Perhaps they don't know how cannibalized their NAP (Name/Address/Phone) listings are, or perhaps they are doing it on purpose to gain visibility.
In the long run, this will hurt them, because the search engines are always going through and confirming listings. If you think it is a real issue, you could try to report a listing as duplicate or "closed".
Let me know if that helps address any of your concerns.

Already ranking high for blog, should I produce video?
I run a website with affiliate links (reviews) and successful YouTube channel. Most of the time we lost the YouTube video review and text review at the same time. I’ve created a couple posts that rank high without a video. But now they are proving to be successful, I’m wondering if it makes sense to now produce a video. If so, do I use the exact keyword? Or a variation? Only about 10% of our YouTube views come from Google Search. Most of our blog traffic is organic.

Google images not showing on SERP
Hi, I recently noticed that after a specific name search, Google images on the 'Web' SERP are no longer showing up. About a month ago, there were atleast 4-5 headshots of this particular person showing up whenever his name was searched. Now no images are showing, just the ten organic links and two links from adwords campaign we have going. The images are still optimized and some are even from editorial sites. Does anyone know what may have caused the images to disappear and what we can do to bring them back to the main SERP? (Not sure if it matters but we are in Canada) Thanks

Do random listings effect Google Local Rankings?
So my clients business name is "Photojennette Photography" and while researching citations to correct I have found a completely random issue. There's an actress named Jennette McCardy that apparently has a ton of photos on the internet and with that are page titles like "Brand New Photo : Jennette McCardy" and "Look at this Photo Jennette McCardy" My question is, would Google be sending my listing down because of this? It's completely random and has nothing to do with the business. Thanks in advance.

Google+ Local ranking for company with no website
Hi,
Image & Video Optimization | | Ant71
Im about to start helping a small business who has a facebook account but no website. Has anyone got any experience of getting a business ranking locally without a website? Just wandering if NAP details from a facebook / Google+ account helps with local citation building? Or whether a basic website is required? Antony0 -
Rel Author Photo when does it show in SERPS
Hi,
Image & Video Optimization | | Ant71
Ive been using Rel author recently to get my Google+ photo showing up on Google serps. Can someone enlighten me to when people would and wouldnt see it. It appears on peoples results who live near me, however when someone 60 miles away does the same search he does not see the photo just the serps result. It is not a Google+ places entry, just your normal organic result. Any thoughts welcome 🙂0 -
Google Places - Local Search - Not ranking when 100% complete?
Hi I have followed the examples set by David Mihm and fully completed a Google Places listing - with the geographical area covering the area that it serves along with lots of local citations but when searching on google for 'accountants swansea' it is way down on page 4 of the places results. Does it take time for Google to recognise these changes to Places listings or is my listing incorrect to attract a high listing for the search phrase. Looking at the competition many of them have not optimised or done anything with their listings pages so I am at a loss to explain why the listing is doing so badly. The places listing is at http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/place?hl=en&prmd=imvns&biw=1280&bih=829&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=accountants+swansea&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=accountants&hnear=0x486e45555a4e97b1:0x3d77128e2fe7cb74,Swansea,+Neath+Port+Talbot&cid=9815784575213492240&ei=UN6WTt7UJ8rasga-ocTrAw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=placepage-link&resnum=7&ved=0CFcQ4gkwBjge
