How influential do you think user behavior is in the algorithm?
-
I'm one of the guys out there that is super focused on user behavior right now. I think with the implementation of different things such as the block feature and +1, it points to the fact that Google is putting a lot more power in the users.
How influential do you think factors such as bounce rate, CTR, time on site, and other user behavior metrics are in the algo?
-
I bet the ranch on user behavior in 2005.
I think that links are still valuable. However, I think that data from social sites, domain queries, domain mentions and visitor behavior are becoming more important. With that growing importance in these other metrics, links should be a depreciating asset.
If google uses links and on-page signals to rank a website - those can all be manipulated by webmasters and SEOs. That means that SEOs can "own google". However, once most of google's signal is coming from these "invisible metrics" then google takes back control.

Google October 2015 Algorithm Update?
According to Accuranker (https://www.accuranker.com/blog/google-october-2015-algorithm-update/), "Google has made some big changes to their algorithm". Other than that one article, I haven't noticed or even heard of any considerable fluctuations. Even Mozcast is looking pretty normal today. Has anyone noticed anything or have any other sources on this? If so, any ideas on what this update seems to be targeting?

Any theories on what you think Google is up to? Personally I've seen rather a few of my sites go up in the rankings last week or so. As always look forward to hearing your thoughts and feelings on it Moz.

Personalization for non logged in users
My question is, how does google personalize the search results for non logged in users and incoqnito searches? I already know about the location personalization whether you're logged in or not and auto complete. But, is personalization still helping in the other cases. Does for example Google keep track of your I.P and then match suggestions that way? Additionally, any other resources would be great.

I think my inbound link anchor text looks un-natural to google - How to fix?
Hi all, For a bit of back ground see this question i posted recently: http://www.seomoz.org/q/lost-over-65-of-organic-visits-since-sept-please-help From the responses there and looking into my backlinks and my competitors i can see an issue with the anchor text on my inbound links... nearly all keywords and very very few brand names etc... From what i can gather (using open site explorer) the page in question has: 1100 inbound links from 900 domains These use 90 different anchor texts 106 of these links use my brand / website name in the anchor text These 106 links are spread over 18 domains (73 from 1 directory) About 5-10% of the links are from directories, the rest are from what i would describe as "proper websites" From my very limited knowledge of this, the issue is my brand / website should have a far higher ratio of links using it as the anchor text then any keyword... which as you can see from the above is not the case... If it wasnt for that 1 directory there would only be 33 links with my brand from over 1000... I need to start fixing this, but was wondering how to start... Below are a list of options i could try, i have no idea if these would help or hinder, any advice you could give on the potential affects of below options would be very helpful: Options (the below are hypothetical, i have no idea if i will be able to get it done - Just thinking out loud here): Get as many as possible of the "directory" links removed Remove keywords from 50-60% of links and replace with branding Or Try to add branding to 50-60% of the anchor texts something like [Brand] + [keyword] Forget about whats been done previously / changing it will not help in anyway / and focus on branding in anchor text for any future link building? Thanks James

Does the Search Algorithm vary considerably locally?
Hey, i am from india and I just noticed that most of our searches are extremely different to those from the gooogle.com searches. Not some searches. I mean entire layouts. For instance, there were no google places in the search results in India. There was hardly any integration with the G+ for a long time after it launched, even though a large population on G+ was Indian. I got thinking on these lines. Any pointers?

User behaviour on a tablet device
My question maybe too broad, but I think this is the right forum to ask the question: What is the user behavior in terms of search engine results when browsing on a tablet (ipad and others). Is it the same as for desktops and laptops or its different? Any infographics would be helpful as well.
