Encoding Apostrophes in HTML
-
One question I have recently been pondering is that the use of apostrophes in ALT attributes and anchor text seems to cause some erratic results from the 'Fetch as BingBot' tool... GWT doesn't color code the results so i only notice it with BingBot, although i can't necessarily tell that it causes any negative effects. My rankings on Bing are erratic though so who knows...
Should I encode apostrophes as ' when i use them in html? Or will it not really matter?

Unless you're trying to rank for something with an apostrophe in the query, it won't really matter.
If you are trying to rank for something with an apostrophe in the query, some searches with and without the apostrophe show that it matters a bit. You can just use the text ' , as both search engines have shown that they understand it. As long as it renders that way in your CMS (you can turn off images to check) you're fine.

How can I use AMP html on a CMS
I have been trying to research using AMP to improve our mobile speed. We have a whole lot of sites on the same platform managed by a CMS. From what I have read, AMP html can only be used on static pages. Does that mean we would not be able to incorporate this into the html through our CMS? I would like to implement this across all our homepages to test the effectiveness of it if possible, but there is no way to rebuild all our homepages statically. Any advice is much appreciated!

Is all duplication of HTML title content bad?
In light of Hummingbird and that HTML titles are the main selling point in SERPs, is my approach to keyword rich HTML titles bad? Where possible I try to include the top key phrase to descripe a page and then a second top keyphrase describing what the company/ site as a whole is or does. For instance an estate agents site could consist of HTML title such as this Buy Commercial Property in Birmingham| Commercial Estate Agents Birmingham Commercial Property Tips | Commercial Estate Agents In order to preserve valuable characters I have also been omitting brand names other than on the home page... is this also poor form?

Redirecting index.html to the root
Hi, I was wondering if there is a safe way to consolidate link juice on a single version of a home page. I find incoming links to my site that link to both mysite.com/ and mysite.com/index.html. I've decided to go with mysite.com/ as my main and only URL for the site and now I'd like to transfer all link juice from mysite.com/index.html to mysite.com/

Template Files .tpl versus .html files
We sell a large selection of Insulation Products use template files (.tpl) to collect up-to-date information from a server side database file that contains some 2,500 line items. When an HTML (.html) file is requested on the Internet, the 'example.tpl' file is accessed, the latest product and and pricing information is accessed, then presented to the viewer as 'example.html' My question: Can the use of .tpl files negatively impact Search Engine acceptance?

What's the best method for segmenting HTML sitemap?
Hello all, I was wondering if anyone can help me. Currently I'm trying to set up a HTML sitemap for our website and am having trouble with the 500+ pages of content under each category. How do you segment your HTML sitemap in a case like this, keeping in mind the less than 100 links per page rule? For example, http://www.careerbliss.com/salary/ allows our users to search salaries under company, job title, and location. You can imagine how many thousands of pages we need to represent. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Cheers! Reyna
