Keyword Specific Domain | Outranking trend
-
Hey everyone, i looked for a similar question but didnt found anything.
Ive been having a lot trouble competing with other websites that use the "exact-keyword" domain (www.keyword.com), then they just stuff some mediocre content and rank 1-3 in Google SERP for that keyword
I wasnt worried before because i thought they were going to be penalized or decreased in ranking. But they bought several keyword domains and outrank everyone in almost every word.
Their conversion rate cant be that good because of the mediocre content, but still i dont like the fact that they rank better just because of the keyword.
Any comment on this? , what would you do?
Regards
-
Just the usual.
Good content.
Good promotion.

I have done some link building through the years, and achieved a domain authority of 35, and page domain of 40, in those pages. I am aware there is still a lot work to do, but i personally think my page has much more value in content, good link building, and good optimized content.
Anyway, i will pursue a more aggresive link building campaign along with my content creation campaign in order to pass these tactics.
Any recommendations on Link Building campaign?
-
I hope it will.
Ive seen my rankings, and traffic increase highly with my new content creation campaign. However, i still need to outrank several pages on some keywords.
Thanks for the reply and answer!

How is your own site doing wrt inbound links from external sources Jesus? Do you have many? Are they coming from quality domains? Related domains?
I share your frustration and see this type of thing all the time. It seems you have to go above and beyond in order to neutralize the advantage keyword incorporating domains have.
I would do as Dan has suggested and go after some very high authority links within your industry. That's the fastest way to level the playing field in my opinion.

11-10 is fairly low for page authority or domain authority.
what do their external links look like? are you sure you are showing ALL external links (any links to anything on the domain abc.com) and not just ones to a specific page (abc.com/specificpage.html).
if they are just linking to their domains from skeleton pages, to other skeleton paged domains, google will see that (which may explain the low authority). they should not be out-ranking you purely on the basis of links from their own domains, internal linking, and domain name matching.
if the authority scores are actually that low ("11-10" as you say), link building, building great content on your pages, and page optimization should help you pass them.
-
I agree totally.
The thing is i already researched everyone one of their pages and domains. And in each domain they have at most 11 links, and they are internal. Their domain and page authory is well beyond 11-10 and still they outrank me and other serious websites.
I am pretty sure they are the same company buying many keyword specific domains. Are mix of .net, .com and .org domains.
I guess there is nothing to do excepto to wait them out and see if Google decreases their ranking with time.

hi
we've seen similar in our field, and yeah, it is pretty annoying. you are right in saying that the keyword match domain has less value than it used to.have you taken the time to review their metrics in opensiteexplorer? (http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/). this may help you understand their backlink and trust metrics a bit more to understand if their site is ranking better beyond things like exact match domains. additionally, it will give you an idea for what "pocket" of links they've put their site in at which point you can go after those as well.
above all: build. great. content.

Sub Domain rel=canonical to Main Domain
Just a quick one, i have the following example scenario. Main Domain: http://www.test.com Sub Domain: http://sub.test.com What I am wondering is I can add onto the sub domain a rel=canonical to the main domain. I dont want to de-index the whole sub domain just a few pages are duplicated from the main site. Is it easier to de-index the individual sub domain pages or add the rel=canonical back to the main domain. Much appreciated Joseph

Best practice to preserve the link juice to internal pages from expired domain?
This question relates to setting up an expired domain, that already has quality links, including deep links to internal pages. Since the new site structure will be different, what's the best practice to preserve the link juice to these internal pages? Export all the internal pages linked to using majestic Seo/ ahrefs etc, and set these pages previously linked to? Or 301 redirect these pages to home page? I heard there's a Wordpress plugin that 301 redirects all the 404 errors successfully preserving all the potential link juice.

301 redirects for 3 top level domains using WP SEO Yoast
Hey Guys I have a custom built website - and a wp blog attached to this - problem is there are 3 top level domains: zenory.co.nz, zenory.com and zenory.com.au **The issue is when I enter the domain to 301 redirect I only have to enter one domain usually i enter redirect from zenory.com/blog/oldpage to zenory.com.newpage ** For eg: I have just move Phone Psychic Readings from the blog - over to the main site. However there seems to be an issue that I'm still having and trying to clean up. I'm finding backlinks there are linking to each other of my 3 domains that end up backlinking across domains, which I was told this can look as spammy to google. For eg: co.nz links many pages to com.au. I'm currently trying to clean this up at the moment - however while im in the process of this - I find myself question when I'm creating the 301 redirects from the blog - but lets say I'm on the blog for zenoy.co.nz/blog/oldblogpost and when I click on a blog post - it redirects me to zenory.com/newarticlepost - because I have redirected it to .com - how can I redirect and make sure is going back to the right domain name to save myself from having to show this cross backlinks? Would gratefully appreciate any assistance on this tricky situation. Cheers Just

Bad keywords sending traffic my site, but can't find the source. Advice?
Hi! My site seems to be the target of negative SEO (or some ancient black hat work that's just now coming out of the woodwork). We're getting traffic from keywords like "myanmar girls" and "myanmar celebrities" that just started in late June and only directs to our homepage. I can't seem to find the source of the traffic, though (Analytics just shows it as "Google," "Bing," and "Yahoo" even though I can't find our site showing up for these terms in search results). Is there any way to ferret out the source besides combing through every single link that is directing to us in Webmaster Tools? I'm not even sure that GWT has picked up on it since this is fairly new, and I'd really love to nip this in the bud. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Single-words high keyword density. How many is too many.
Dear All SeoMoz users, I'm a web designer for some time now. Doing some basic SEO from time to time. I just started up with brand new website. The website is not ranking very well for 2nd line keyword (keyword density < 2%), but the problem is not ranking at all for for my main keyword. I think the problem is the keyword density. For phrases that are 3-words long my keyword density is less than 4%. I suspect the problem is that keyword density for single-word phrases is between 8-12%. Please note that the 3 words with highest keyword density make my main 3-words long keyword. Is this the case? Should I be avoiding keyword density larger than 4% for single-word phrases as well? What is you experiences is this matter? Could my single-word phrases be treated as keyword stuffing by Google?

Purchasing an EXPIRING domain with quality related links
I'm about to purchase a domain that has highly trusted links pointed to it. I would like to 301 redirect that domain to point to a brand new domain in the same niche. Some of the links that the expiring domain would take me a long time to obtain so I am thinking to use this method to my advantage. I know that this is not really a legitimate way to go to build backlinks, but surely this is going to give me good serp improvement which is my main concern at the moment. I am going to test this method to see if it benefits me in anyway but I would like some opinions to this please.
