I noticed all my SEOed sites are getting attacked constantly by viruses. I do wordpress sites. Does anyone have a good recommendation to protect my clients sites? thanks

We have tried all different kinds of security plugins but none seem to work long term.

Carla,
We have been using Sucuri for about 2 years now. I haven't tried it on a Magento site but imagine it would work just as well. I have had to submit probably 6 support tickets for malware removal in that time for various client sites and each time they have cleared it up within the hour. It is pretty great for peace of mind. The first time it happened we spent 3 days trying to figure out what was up and so Sucuri was just a no brainer at that point. All the best to you.

Hi Nathan,
Yes I am interested but I don't think your rates will work for us. We are in Argentina and with a very devalued currency at the moment. We are an Argentina Seo company. Thanks for offering.

Hi Joshua,
How long have you guys been using Securi? Do you use it on all your sites as a requirement? We purchased it for 5 sites just 3 months ago and so far it works. Have you ever applied Securi to a Magento site? Does it also reduce Spam?
Thanks
Carla

Thanks Mike. I will take a look at this post. We have tried most of this main points but every once in awhile the sites still get hacked. My clients are too "frugal" to pay Securi.

Carla,
We use http://sucuri.net/ to protect our wordpress sites. Not only does it offer some protection, but if you get hacked and have Malware, it tells you right away and real people from their company will remove the malware from your site and get it cleaned up within a couple hours. It's probably not the cheapest service on the market, but it works really really well.

Hi Carla,
Read this article on WordPress security goes into detail on, "... some common forms of vulnerabilities, and the things you can do to help keep your WordPress installation secure."
From my understanding, the gist of it is:
- Keep your installations up-to-date.
- Keep strong passwords and change them regularly.
- Remove unwanted plugins.
- Assign permissions to folders and files.
Hope this helps.
Mike

Hey Carla,
There are a bunch of different security measures you can take to protect your websites on the server side and on the wordpress side. My company specializes in WordPress Security. If you would like to PM I could give you some rates per site or a bundle for all of them.

Main Site and eCommerce Site URLs for SEO
My client currently has a main website on a url and an eCommerce site on a subdomain. The eCommerce site is currently not mobile friendly, has images that are too small and are problematic - and I believe it negates some of the SEO work we do for them. I had to turn off Google Shopping ads because the quality score was so low. That being said, they are rebuilding a shopping cart on a new platform that will be mobile friendly BUT the images are going to be tiny until they slowly replace images over several months. Would you keep the shopping cart on a subdomain, or make it part of the main website URL? Can it negatively impact the progress we have made on the main site SEO.

Another client copies everything to blogspot. Is that what keeps her site from ranking? Or what? Appears to be a penalty somewhere but can't find it.
This client has a brand new site: http://www.susannoyesandersonpoems.com Her previous site was really bad for SEO, yet at one time she actually ranked on the first page for "LDS poems." She came to me because she lost rank. I checked things out and found some shoddy SEO work by a very popular Wordpress webhoste that I will leave unnamed. If you do a backlink analysis you can see the articles and backlinks they created. But there are so few, so I'm not sure if that was it, or it just was because of the fact that her site was so poorly optimized and Google made a change, and down she fell. Here's the only page she had on the LDS poems topic in her old site: https://web.archive.org/web/20130820161529/http://susannoyesandersonpoems.com/category/lds-poetry/ Even the links in the nav were bad as they were all images. And that ranked in position 2 I think she said. Even with her new site, she continues to decline. In fact she is nowhere to be found for main keywords making me think there is a penalty. To try and build rank for categories, I'm allowing google to index the category landing pages and had her write category descriptions that included keywords. We are also listing the categories on the left and linking to those category pages. Maybe those pages are watered down by the poem excerpts?? Here's an example of a page we want to rank: http://susannoyesandersonpoems.com/category/lds-poetry/ Any help from the peanut gallery?

Doing SEO for site that publishes articles everyday?
Hi, I was wondering on the best way to do SEO for a site that publishes articles daily. In other words, I add a new url to my site daily. How should I ensure that the new pages are optimized? Do I need to submit each new site to search engines? Any tips?

If I get a natural link for a great site and I have my keyword with anchor text in this link, how should I proceed?
If I get a natural link for a great site and I have my keyword with anchor text in this link, how should I proceed? I need to contact the site and ask to remove the link or request the removal of the anchor text and leave only the site URL? Or yet do not I need to worry about this issue?

Decreasing the size of a site to increase SEO value of remaining pages?
My website has thousands of pages and I have so many keywords on the bottom of page 1 and on page 2 of SERPs. I am considering making the site smaller to lessen the dilution of the overall domain authority and in theory the remainder pages should get pushed up in rank. Do you feel this theory is flawed? Is it better to 301 or remove the pages if they don't have backlinks directly to the internal page? These are pages I would re-enable down the road once overall domain authority is increased. thanks, David couponcactus.com

First click on SEO redirecting to a competitor site?
I just experienced something VERY odd and wondered if any of you had an idea of what it might be. When I did a search on Google and clicked the top SEO listing I was taken to a competitor of the number 1 listed site i.e. NOT the site I clicked on. When I clicked the back button and clicked it again, I was taken to the correct site. This happened with two different searches and I was taken to two different sites. Could this be a clever/sinister cookie implemented by the competitor; a site I frequent regularly? Could this be malware implemented by an affiliate? Could this be a Google glitch?
