Differences in organic search visits and non-paid keyword visits
-
Hi folks,
I was just wondering at the disparity between the "Organic Search Visits" total in the Traffic Data tab and the total visits from "Non Paid Keywords Sending Search Visits".
Once you add up all the traffic generated from the individual keywords (including the not provided numbers) shouldn't the total match the number of organic search results? Or is there something I'm missing? At the moment the total visits from non-paid keywords is about 2,000 short of the total organic search visits.

So, top graph is "free" visits from search engines + referrals by keywords
and second its only direct mention of domain name in search? -
Yeah, I bet that's it. Thank Highland!

There's also Direct Traffic (where someone types your domain in or, at the very least, provides no referrer). I bet if you add that in you find they match.

Does the new Google Analytics Search Console Beta tool use API to pull more data?
So my client has been asking for definitive proof of why the search query data provided on Google Search Console does not exactly match up the data presented directly in the Search Console itself. The simple answer is that the Google Search Console is limited to 1000 rows of data. However our client is requesting a Google article/documentation of why the new Search Console beta tool has no row limit (hence much more data for a big website). I know that the Google Search Console API was available before Google announced the new Search Console Beta tool in Google Analytics. I also know this API could pull in more data than the 1000 row limit. However is there any article available (preferably from Google) that Google Analytics is pulling this Search Console data via API? Thanks!

Should Google Trends Match Organic Traffic to My Site?
When looking at Google Trends and my Organic Traffic (using GA) as percentages of their total yearly values I have a correlation of .47. This correlation doesn't seem right when you consider that Google Trends (which is showing relative search traffic data) should match up pretty strongly to your Organic Traffic. Any thoughts on what might be going on? Why isn't Google Trends correlating with Organic Traffic? Shouldn't they be pulling from the same data set? Thanks, Jacob

Confirmation page gets hit multiple times by some users. How I can I segment out unique visits?
Hi All, I'm web marketing manager at http://www.evenues.com which is like an AirBnB for meeting space. When calculating the number of bookings for our meeting spaces, I've set up a goal in analytics with the confirmation page as the goal URL. The problem is, it seems that some users are looking at the same confirmation page several times. We have unique URLs for each confirmation page, but some users seem to be visiting these unique pages more than 2 to 5 times. This skews our numbers a bit. This makes things a bit problematic when it comes to segmenting visitors. is there anything we can so that each unique URL visited only counts once? Thanks, Kenji

Should we add the city to our keywords for a site that is only local?
This is one of those things I have done for a long time and all of a sudden asked myself was it necessary: For our local clients, we add the city name (Houston, KC, Birmingham) after each keyword. An example would be TestSite.com/big-tester-houston A Title Tag might be Big Tester Houston | Test Site, etc. Where appropriate we do the same with H1 or H2's and occasionally in the content we will use the city name. The thought being that since the site is only for a given city, it will be deemed more relevant than a site from outside.( I understand there are other factors in SEO; this is a specific question around adding the city). Yes, we also optimize with local directories/citation sites. Is this overkill, is it even worthwhile? Is there any evidence one way or another? I would love some strong opinions backed up with something other than anecdotal evidence where possible.
