Page not appearing in SERPs
-
I have a regional site that does fairly well for most towns in the area (top 10-20). However, one place that has always done OK and has great content is not anywhere within the first 200.
Everything looks OK, canonical link is correct, I can find the page if I search for exact text, there aren't any higher ranking duplicate pages.
Any ideas what may have happened and how I can confirm a penalty for example.
TIA,
Chris -
Thanks. I'm calling Google broken! or at least my version.
Not only can I not see my site at all, there are 2 pages from the same cheap flights website and another holiday company I've never heard of (it's my job to hear of them!)
Very strange...
-
Correct; on google.co.uk it came up on the first page.
-
Still can't see it anywhere in the rankings myself.
Just to confirm - you searched for Isles of Scilly and http://www.cornwalls.co.uk/Isles-of-Scilly/ came up on the first few pages?
Thanks,
Chris -
Thanks again Matt.
No Skype, but I'll drop you a line later if I'm working late.Still not ranking for Isles of Scilly in google.co.uk or google.com even in my cookie disabled browser.... weird!
-
Do you have Skype? I have to pop out right now but I'd be happy to help you out later on?
I'll have a good dig through the page and check out your link profile
My Skype is in my SEOMoz profile. If you don't have Skype, pop me a mail or something.
Matt

I'm also seeing it rank for Isles of Scilly (now, that's for google.co.uk vs google.com)
-
Thanks for checking.
It seems to have disappeared for "Isles of Scilly", without the Cornwall.
I'm sure it is some sort of penalty
-
Spot on thanks. What terms are you not ranking for? The page is indexed and when searching for "Isles of Scilly Cornwall" I'm getting you in 5th position?
-
Thanks Matt.
Here you go: http://www.cornwalls.co.uk/Isles-of-Scilly/
I don't think it's an on page thing as all my other similar pages are fine.
-
Do you have a link to the site please? I'd be happy to take a quick look.
Matt

Too many SEO changes needed on a page. Create a new page?
I've been doing some research on a keyword with Page Optimization. I'm finding there's a lot of changes suggested. I'm wondering that because of the amount of changes required is it better to create a new page entirely from scratch that has all the suggestions implemented OR change the current page? Thanks, Chris

Why Would My Page Have a Higher PA and DA, Links & On-Page Grade & Still Not Rank?
The Search Term is "Alcohol Ink" and our client has a better page authority, domain authority, links to the page, and on-page grade than those in the SERP for spaces 5-10 and we're not even ranked in the top 51+ according to Moz's tracker. The only difference I can see is that our URL doesn't use the exact text like some of the 5-10 do. However, regardless of this, our on-page grade is significantly higher than the rest of them. The one thing I found was that there were two links to the page (that we never asked for) that had a spam score in the low 20's and another in the low 30's. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to maybe get around this? Certainly, a content campaign and linking campaign around this could also help but I'm kind of scratching my head. The client is reputable, with a solid domain age and well recognized in the space so it's not like it's a noob trying to get in out of nowhere.

Do I have to go off page to establish an entity?
So I have always thought of Google establishing an Entity (by entity I mean https://goo.gl/RP8e9B) by looking at the markup on a website. Recently watched a video that discussed creating an entity by using external websites. I have a feeling that you do not have to go off of the main website to have an entity created. Is there anything valid in this concept/video? (https://goo.gl/CNe7qD) The concept focuses on creating branded pages on properties owned by Google and various other well known websites. My main concern is whether this is something I should do for our website or if just doing the little bit of social marketing we are doing is fine.

Pagination on a product page with reviews spread out on multiple pages
Our current product pages markup only have the canonical URL on the first page (each page loads more user reviews). Since we don't want to increase load times, we don't currently have a canonical view all product page. Do we need to mark up each subsequent page with its own canonical URL? My understanding was that canonical and rel next prev tags are independent of each other. So that if we mark up the middle pages with a paginated URL, e.g: Product page #1http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692"/>http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692&pageid=2" />**Product page #2 **http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692&pageid=2"/>http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692" />http://www.example.co.uk/Product.aspx?p=2692&pageid=3" />Would mean that each canonical page would suggest to google another piece of unique content, which this obviously isn't. Is the PREV NEXT able to "override" the canonical and explain to Googlebot that its part of a series? Wouldn't the canonical then be redundant? Thanks

Product pages content
Hi! I'm doing some SEO work for a new client. I've been tasked with boosting some of their products, such as http://www.lawnmowersdirect.co.uk/product/self-propelled-rear-roller-rotary-petrol-lawnmowers/honda-hrx426qx. It's currently #48 for the term Honda Izy HRG465SD, while http://www.justlawnmowers.co.uk/lawnmowers/honda-izy-hrg-465-sd.htm is #2, behind Amazon. Regarding links, there's no great shakes between the pages or even the domains. However, there's major difference in content. I'm happy to completely revamp it, I just wanted to check I'm not missing anything out before starting to rewrite it altogether! Thanks
