Moving old Yahoo Store (since 2000) to Magento Enterprise. What are the pitfalls to be aware of?
-
What are the most dangerous things we should be aware of in moving an old domain from 2000 from Yahoo Store to Magento Enterprise, SEO wise? We know about setting up the 301s. Anything else we should be on top of? Site is www.EarphoneSolutions.com

Hi There
I'm honestly not sure about specific concerns with those platforms. But I can give a few general tips;
- In addition to redirects, be sure to maintain titles and descriptions (unless you're updating those too). Going from one platform to the next can change these all around due to default templates etc so you may want to just be sure they stay consistent.
- I'd crawl the site with Screaming Frog a bunch of times right as it goes live to catch anything unforeseen: 404's etc.
- Monitor Webmaster Tools closely as well for errors and messages.
I'll see if another associate has some Magento specific experience they can offer tips on.

Should I be concerned about Google indexing an old domain if the listings redirect to the new domain?
I noticed this about Moz's old domain SEOMoz.org. If the URLs from the old domain are redirecting, is there any reason to be concerned about an old domain still appearing to be indexed by Google? See here: https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=site%3Aseomoz.org Links to seomoz.org are listed, but if you click them they redirect to moz.com. Is this anything to be concerned about or is everything operating as expected?

Page authority has disappeared since redirect
As the title states, my page authority (PA) has completely disappeared for certain pages on my site.

I have recently had a redesign and optimised the page names, redirecting the page it has replaced.
This has been nearly 2 months now and the new pages are showing PA of 1 still.
The 301 redirects definitely work so what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!0 -

Magento URL Question
Calling all Magento Kings out there! I'm working on a client' site - powered by magento. I'm looking to rewrite a lot of the URLs. I know there is the URL rewrite tool, but I think what I need to do may go beyond this. Typical example would be: Old URL - http://www.xxxxxxxx.co.uk/fabric/product/product-black-screen-print-and-silver-fabric.html New URL - http://www.xxxxxx.co.uk/fabric/product/silver I know that magento's URLs seem to be created through categories so wanted to double check with someone the best way to do this. Also, I've heard that 301 redirects of non www to www in the .htaccess has a knock on effect on discounts? All comments greatly appreciated.

Moving Blog to Custom Domain
Hi All - I am currently attempting to move a blog (companyname.blogspot.com) that has a 2/10 GPR to a custom domain name so that I can get my targeted keywords in the domain name. The new domain will just be www.targetedkeyword.com. There are easy instructions for doing this with the A record and CNAME changes in the Blogger help, but I am worried about losing rank and links if I do this. Can you guys help me understand what the ramifications would be, and how I can accomplish this without losing the 2/10 mojo? Thanks!
