Ranktracker entire subdomain option
-
About http://ranktracker.seomoz.org ...
if I search on Google for "my phrase" I can see **www.**mysite.com on first place
Doesn't this mean that I should see a similar position on ranktracker if I type "http://mysite.com" (without www) and I select the "Entire Subdomain" radio button ? Because this shows that I am NOT in top 50.
It does show up if I type my site with www and I select eider "entire subdomain" or "exact url" radio button.
Thank you.

Hi Adrian,
Sort of.
Here's an example of how this works. You want to conduct a search for the keyword - SEO - for the sub-domain www.seomoz.org.
-
If you choose the "Exact URL" radial, we'll only look for that keyword ranking on that particular page (i.e. SEO on www.seomoz.org).
-
If you choose the "Entire Subdomain" radial, we'll look for that keyword ranking on any page within that sub domain.
Unfortunately, neither of these apply if you're trying to gather rankings data for your root domain because we currently don't look for ranking data for root domains in Rank Tracker Unlike our campaigns, Rank Tracker doesn't include any subdomains if you type in a root domain and choose the 'Entire Subdomain" radial.
Best,
Sam

@SamWeber So the "Entire Subdomain" option actually means "All pages of this domain" and not "All sub-domains of this domain" ?

Hi Adrian!
Thanks for the question and sorry for the confusion here. The reason why you're seeing this is because we don't actually track rankings for root domains in Rank Tracker. My recommendation would be to submit this as a feature request for our Product team to review. They look at this daily and use it to plan out our roadmap so hopefully they'll be able to add it in sooner rather than later
In the meantime, I'll reach out internally to see if we can update the messaging on our Rank Tracker page to make this a little clearer. Hope this helps and let us know if you have any other question!
Best,
Sam

Is there a way to get the domain authority of a subdomain?
For example, www.storage-mart.com and us.storage-mart.com both show the same DA in OSE. I believe it's the DA of the root domain. How can I compare the DA of the 'www' and 'us' subdomains?

NoFollow Links from Subdomain to root domain better than DoFollow Links?
Our service at fotograf.de is a shopsystem for professional photographers. The customers can build their own website with our tool including an onlineshop to sell their pictures. Here is my question: One part of the customers use subdomains of our site like photographers.fotograf.de. On each customer website we include a backlink to our homepage www.fotograf.de. From SEO view is it better to set these links as NoFollow Links? Or should we put one Follow Link on the starting page on each site and on the other pages only NoFollow Link? Are these links bad for our SEO regarding link diversity because they all come from one root domain? Thanks for the answers! Sebastian

Question about SEOMoz Pro and Root Domain vs. Subdomain tracking
I currently have two Pro campaigns set up. They are both tracking the root domains of two different e-commerce sites. I also am tracking three competitors for each company, in each campaign. I have those set up by subdomains, like so www.Competitor.com. So in my Historical link analysis I am getting MyRootDomain.com, compared to www.competitor1.com, www.competitor2.com and www.competitor3.com Is this a problem? Would it be better for me to switch my company campaigns to track subdomains too, or to switch my competitor tracking to root domains. This is probably pretty rudimentary, but it never even occurred to me until just now. I realize that if I switch to subdomains for my own company tracking this would necessitate setting up a completely new campaign. This would be a problem because I am maxed out on my 1,000 keywords. Last but not least, does the fact that I have been tracking my own site root domains compared to competitors subdomains mean all of my competitive domain and link analysis is, well, garbage?...because I haven't really been comparing the same things?

Why does SEOmoz assign such a high Domain Authority to subdomains on blogspot, typepad, wordpress.com, etc.?
I thought it was generally accepted that the search engines treat joesmith.wordpress.com and www.wordpress.com as completely different domains. In which case, a cute but obscure blog like http://monkeysalwayslook.typepad.com/ has no business having a DA of 95.

How to get the total external links to a page and total external links to the domain using Mozscape API? I could not see an option in the bit flags
Hi, I was trying to get the data for total external links to a page and total external links to the domain using Mozscape API but I can't see a bit flag which can do that. There are bit flags for external followed links to a page and external followed links to a domain but I wanted the total external links data, is there a way to do that using Mozscape API else I would end up copying the data manually from OSE which would be cumbersome and time consuming. Your help is highly appreciated.

In open site explorer, why are subdomain stats different to domain stats?
Hello there I have just compared some sites in Open Site Explorer. The page domain, subdomain and domain stats are all different. I get the difference between page and domain stats. But why are the subdomain stats different? There are no subdomains on the site so I expected them to be the same. What is my confused brain missing??? Many thanks Wendy

Schedule crawls for 2 subdomains every 24 hours
I saw at this link: http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test "As a PRO member, you can schedule crawls for 2 subdomains every 24 hours, and you'll get up to 3,000 pages crawled per subdomain." However I am having trouble finding where to schedule this 24 hour crawl in my Pro Dashboard. I did not see the option for this setting in the crawl diagnostics tab or in the campaign settings section from the dashboard home page. Can you help? thanks! Michael

301ing entire E-Com website - Using TopPages Report as a Guide
Hi Folks, My company is in discussions with an ERP provider to migrate our existing website to a new backend system, new url structures..the whole 9 yards. We have over 15,000 products, and a lot of "odd" url structures created by an outdated system that we were unable to adjust. All and all, if you're talking about a raw url count, it's in the 100s of thousands. During discussions, we were told that bulk 301 redirects would be a problem. They could be performed manually though (greaaattt). Due to this, I ran an OpenSite Explorer report, and isolated our top pages. After exporting the CSV, I was able to breakout "all" urls that have links from other domains. My question is, has anyone used the OpenSite Explorer on a website of similar size, to form the basis of a migration? Do you have enough confidence in the tool to use it in this way, or should we re-negotiate our agreement until a way can be found to mass 301 ALL urls. I'm at least a little concerned that OpenSite Explorer isn't indexing all of the links out there. Gasp..or would there be a better tool to accomplish what I'm trying to do? Thanks!
