Title tag and URL Optimization
-
Hello guys,
Should the URL reflect the structure of the title of a webpage?
This is the old title with the Url:
20mm O/D Black Polypropylene LSZH Flexible Conduit 100m Coil
/Product/20mm-o-d-black-polypropylene-lszh-conduit-100m-coil/1352
I changed the keyword position and it looks like this:
20mm Flexible Conduit | O/D Black Polypropylene LSZH | 100m
I kept the same Url for now, should I change that too?
Thanks

Well my goal is to rank higher and drive more organic traffic to the website.
I am gonna be using pretty much the same keywords which are the ones that represent the actual product pages, I will just rewrite the title tags and product description in order to be found from people and also to improve the experience of customers that will not see just codes but actual words.

Long answer: see above.
Short answer: not worth it.
As far as your page title; It depends what specific keyword you're trying to rank for. What is your kw goal for this page?

thanks for your answer, I am gonna look into it because I have never done this things before and I need to learn them trying my best not to make mistakes.
By the way what do you think about the page title?
where can I find more resources about it?
thanks again!

Primo,
The more focus you can place on the keyword for a particular page the better (to a point). Moz has a GREAT tool for that, its called the on page grade. This tool will focus like a laser on the submitted url with feedback on every aspect that the search engines find appealing. If you don't grade an A on this test, I would invest time in improving your score.
Improving your score involves doing things like you are trying by changing the URL, but here is the caveot! Any link juice that you may have built up under the old URL is instantly lost, along with other errors this could bring by changing the address. here is a short list:
404 error for the old address. Did you remember to also change other pages that may have linked to the old address. Loss of link juice from old address. Sitemap.xml file is out of date.
Phew, lots of things to consider.
So here is what I would recommend: Create either a 301 redirect for the old page address, or a Canonical tag. THis will preserve any link juice. Remove the page address from the Sitemap.xml so spiders no longer are directed to look for it. Include the old address in your robots.txt file as Disallow (so you don't end up with a 404 error). Check your back links to see if other websites forward to the old address, and get those corrected (helps in the long run).
Some folks call our SEO work snake oil, but as you can see its just plain old hard work and good practices

Are descriptive titles better?
I'm thinking about changing the page titles on my website and wanted to know if it is a good idea to help improve SEO! Using a page 'training and engagement' as an example (as is on the dropdown), the page title itself is actually 'Providing the skills to make the change stick.' Is that long descriptive title negatively effecting me? Or should I change it to 'Training and Engagement'? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙂 Sam

Is it better to shorten my existing url to use only keyword after domain with a 301 redirect from existing url
I have a long existing URL that has included my key word but the url has about 5 additional words in the text ( eg url would have " /super widgets in stock at the widget store " as url text after domain. keywords is super widget The URL was at the top of search results for my keyword for many years until recently. Is it better to shorten my url text to now use only my keyword " /super-widgets " after the domain with a 301 direct from my existing url to optimize it Thanks

Is there any benefit to removing brand name from the title tag?
I just signed up for Moz recently, and have noticed that in my crawl errors, I have hundreds of issues with my title tag being too long. My business is selling prints for landscape/travel/nature photography, and I've built these pages dynamically to where the title tag for pages selling individual photos has the title of the photo for sale followed by a hyphen and then the brand name. The same goes for gallery pages "Gallery Name | Brand Name". Would it be worth it to shorten the title tags by removing the brand name from these pages? Or will that actually harm more than help? Thanks in advance!

Better to hyphenate URL or no?
Sea Glass Jewelry or Sea-Glass-Jewelry My domain name does not have my keyword in it, so I have been using the category as a means to get the keyword in the URL. My site would say www.abcdefghijk.com/sea-glass-jewelry/sterling-starfish-necklace When I run the review, it tells me that I have too many parameters. Is it too long? Should I remove hyphens? Which is better?

How do you handle URLs with slashes?
I asked this question before, but with a different scenario. I upgraded my plan to a more advanced cart and all of my URLs changed about 1.5 years ago. I knew nothing about redirects and such, so none of that was done. Basically, let's say my site was: http://www.abc.com, but when people actually visit my site, they are directed to https://www.abc.com/. I have asked my host about redirecting and she that it is not possible. In the past, the link shared has been just www.abc.com . Will this hurt my ranking? My second question is ...let's say I have a link http://www.abc.com/blog , but now, the link is http://www.abc.com/blog/ . Will I be affected, since all my old links omit the slash?

Does my actual blog post title have any effect once I create a title tag for SEO purposes?
A little confused about this. Reason I ask is that using my actual title for my title tag sometimes isn't the best for getting ranked, so the title and title tag are sometimes not the same.

Title tags missing
I have noticed that some of my title tags have been altered (by Google?) on the SERP. I am only showing the keywords on some listings, not the full title tags that I wrote, this is happening to our competitors as well. Any idea what is going on, one of my clients is looking for answers! Thanks

Best URL Structure For Products That Are The Same
I know that the url structure is very important for seo preferably using the keyword. But is it okay to have the same url with the product number at the end ? Each of our products have a name with a product number. Or will this cause to many similar urls? or if the folder is the name of the product that needs to be optimized, can the page just be called the product number? Example: Say you have a 20 different product lines and they are all catagorized in the appropriate folders, and need to be optimized for the actual product name. XXX (folder name ) WWW-PR-123 WWW-PR-1234 WWW-PR-12345 WWW-PR-123456 what would be the best url structure? Can they have the same begining? The product name? something like: www.example.com/xxx/www-pr-123.php www.example.com/xxx/www-pr-1234.php or www.example.com/xxx/pr-123.php www.example.com/xxx/pr-1234.php
