Just wanted to leave a quick note saying that SEOmoz has upgraded our Link Directory! You can view a post Cyrus wrote with more information about the directory update and link building via directories at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/seo-link-directory-best-practices

Hi Panu,
Could you give me a tips on link building please? Are there any FREE websites I can place links...?
Thank you for your help so far...

Happy to help. Bear in mind that link directory links are quite worthless, blog comment links not too useful.

I believe in Google and SEOmoz Toolbar. Go to Google and start going through queries related to the landing pages the rakings of which you are trying the improve. You can also try this tool http://www.seomoz.org/labs/link-intersect.
Make a list of all the search results you find which are highly related and have a decent page authority, domain authority and Moz Trust rank. What numbers are decent? Depends on your language and niche. I prefer sites that have better ranks than the site Im linking although this does not apply for very new domains with weak ranks.
When you have an abundant list on urls start going through them to find ways to get your link sneaked in somehow. Comment, add link, post an article all make your job easier but often mean lower quality links. Contacting the webmasters to propose exchanging a quality article for a few links might do the trick in some niches. Indirect link trading is one of my favorites. Obviously you can just pay for links as well although this a method I tend to avoid.
Whats the best way to get a large number of links in the long run? Good content. Your content should be high quality enough to draw links on its own. It will do so more likely if you remind your visitors to link you and make it as easy as possible. You are the best judge of what content will draw links in your niche. Doesn't hurt to do some keyword research and figure out if there are topics not yet covered by other sites - those are great link baits.
I also tend to be active on sites which have linked me or from which I want a link from. A few good comments might well lead to a do follow link to your website in a blogs next article. And its always nice to say thanks when this happens - not least to ensure some follow up links in the future :).
Also remember that link building is an on-going process. You want a steady, constant flow of links. Not 1000 links today and none for the next 6 months!
Hope this helps

I tend to try to aim for links from pages with a high PA score. I find sites related to mine and contact them to ask them for a link. I sometimes offer to write content for them in return.

Looking to outsource some of our link building...
Hi Everyone, We are a small online marketing firm in the UK and we are starting to hit a bit of a bottleneck in terms of the resources that we have that can be devoted to link building. As a result, we need to outsource the link building for some of our clients (around 10). Obviously, we only want ethical, white hat link building to take place and it really is a focus on quality rather than quantity. As you can imagine, being a fairly small firm, we also have a very limited budget! We would ideally like to work with UK link builders but would definitely look at overseas partnerships if it worked out more cost effective and the standard of the link building meets our standards. Just so that I'm not wasting anyone's time, we have a budget of around £200-300 for this (I know, its a very limited budget!). I understand that with this budget comes limitations so we would be more than willing at looking at some stripped down packages (for example, we already have in-house bloggers, so we wouldn't need that). Let me know if you are interested or if you would be able to recommend anyone to me. It would be a great help. Matt

In light of penguin - what are your thoughts on widget based link-building?
Hi all, I thought it would be interesting to see if people's perceptions of widget based link building have changed. By that I mean - Do you think it's ok to give somebody a tool to use oon their website with a reference to the creator of that tool or will that count as 'manipulative or unnatural' link building? I'll start the discussion off by saying... I think this type of link building is ok and legitimate as you are merely referencing the creator of the tool whose widget you are using on your website. My only caveat would be to ensure that the anchor text is not manipulative but relevant. Looking forward to hearing what you all think about this as I'm sure many people maybe put off by doing this.

What are the best SEO agencies for link building?
I am not looking for a full service SEO agency. I just want link building. Not paid links, not link networks, not blog comments, not bookmarks...real, legit, decent links. Does anyone have any experience working with an SEO agency that helped them develop their link profile positively and at a reasonable price? I'm willing to pay for the service, I just want to work with someone who won't buy links or send a bunch of spam our way. If anyone has worked with such an agency, please let me know so I can contact them for more info. Thanks!

Outsourced link building?
My company is looking at outsourcing part of our SEO - some supplementary link building to boost some deep links. What does the SEOmoz community think of outsourcing link building? Every company that I've researched seems to employ very low quality techniques, which ends up with a bunch of spammy/sidebar/links page/comment links. Are there companies that specialise in high quality link building? We would definitely be looking for people that would do things like write engaging guest posts, etc, rather than spamming our brand across the internet. Are there any lessons that you've learned that you can share with me?

Link building
I have two separate websites on different servers and was wondering that since reciprocal links effectively eliminate each other, I'm curious if this link strategy will keep the links counting. Here's the strategy: I will have someone link to my site A and if i link to their site from my site B in a three way link strategy, will the links count even though both my site A and B have me listed as the Whois so Google knows that both sites are owned by me? Or will the links be discounted as reciprocal? Thanks in advance for your feedback! Take care, Ron

What percentage of my links should be directory links
I feel a lot of my link building might be a bit heavy on the directory links side. Should I limit the percentage amount of links as a part of my overall link profile? If yes what percentage of links is ok to be directory links?
