What is the best day of the week for email surveys?
-
Wondering what the best day of the week is for emailing surveys. Also if there are different best days for B2C & B2B.
-
Hey there,
We are B to C and tend to find Thursday's and Friday's are the best days to send, but there is only ever around a 1% swing between a Monday and a Thursday. Would say that the biggest factor in surveys is the relationship you have with your subscribers (double opt-in vs 3rd party) and so on.
Good luck - Kian

With our mailouts we have generated the best open and click thru rates on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We send them out around 2 pm EST.

I will be honest, I am not sure there is a 100% right answer for this. Most of what you see are general guidelines on what to do, but you probably need to see how your audience reacts.
There is a general article here on when best to email on time of day.
http://blog.getresponse.com/best-time-to-send-email-infographic.html
There is some logic as you do not want to email people when they are commuting etc.
There is a good article by Survey Monkey
http://blog.surveymonkey.com/blog/2011/08/16/day-of-the-week/
They show for B2C that Mondays are best.
Another study by another company mention Mondays and Wednesdays
http://www.servicetick.com/blog/do-survey-response-rates-change-by-day-of-week/
Here is another article that looked at several other articles and they mention Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
http://www.peoplepulse.com.au/Invite-Timing-Tips.htm
This article mentions Wednesdays and Thursdays
http://blog.sogosurvey.com/sending-out-surveys-its-all-about-timing-get-the-timing-right/
Do you get where I am going here? If I were to keep looking for studies, I bet I could probably even find a few that recommend weekends. Why? Probably because people get sick of all the surveys that are sent during the week!
Take a read through and see if you can find any parallels between the groups that these articles studied and the group you are emailing. It would probably also help if you did some persona work. Who are your website visitors what are they normally doing. Example, if your website caters to a bunch of teachers, maybe Friday afternoon is better as they are done with all the school stuff for the week. Add that to all the above, and do a back of the napkin meta analysis and you will probably have a pretty good starting point.
Good luck!

Best Day of Week & Best Time of Day for B+B Email
For business to business email, should we avoid sending on Mondays and Fridays? The nature of the service is commercial real estate brokerage for office space in New York City. We are mailing to corporate decision makers in various industries (technology, finance, law). Should we avoid mailing during certain times of day? Or is there a best time of day to send the email. Thanks,

Figuring out why sales drop significantly from one day to another
Hi all, We're running an eCommerce site and are using Moz to track our organic results i primarily we are using the Rank tracker and On page analysis tools. One strange issue that we experience on our website is sales dropping from one day to the next unexplainably (to us anyway). For example, one day (could be any day of the week or weekend) we'll make £1,000 of sales, the next £200 - the following might be back up to £1,000. I've tried looking for patterns in traffic, but oddly even on the days when we have poor sales we still tend to have almost as much traffic. We also use adwords, which account for about 50% of sales - on some of the poor days our spend on adwords is down, on others it's not. If the spend is down I could make a fair assumption that our competitors are playing around with their bids. I'm interesting in trying to determine why we have such irregular sales patterns. If they dropped 10/20% I could quite easily put it down to any number of factors - even the weather for example, however drops of 80/90% seem strange. I don't really know where to look for the answers - my first thought was that on the poor days I should check whether our organic rankings had dropped significantly overnight - but the Moz Rank Tracker only updates once per week, so perhaps there is an alternative way someone could suggest? I'd be really interested to hear from any of you that might have been through similar struggles, or, have some ideas that might help us get to the bottom of the fluctuation in sales. Thanks in advance for your time. Kind regards,

Email before Download or Not?
I'm designing an exhibition stand at the moment and am going to be putting QR codes that link to a technical specification on the products. The question is - do I just allow them to download the pdf or do I ask for a name and email address before they can do that. As its an exhibition stand I should get the business cards anyway - but to know exactly what products each person is interested in would help I'm not sure how many people use QR codes in Asia, have a QR code readers..... and would adding the email request just be too much? Whats your opinion? The product is an industrial one and mainly engineers and procurement types from the oil and gas industry will be visiting the stand.

Is putting an email address in the page title a good idea?
As our Contact Us page title was a little short I added in sales@example.com So "Contact us : Sales@example.com" We don't get a lot of spam and it hasn't noticeable increased since we did this. Tynt suggests that a reasonable number of people have copied and pasted the email - presumably to contact us Is it worth experimenting with further or a waste of time?

What is the best way to reduce bounce rate from Pinterest Traffic?
Hi, Our bounce rate is very high on incoming traffic from Pinterest. What can we do to redirect the traffic to more than single product page and/or convert them to sign up for newsletter, etc? Anyone know if there is an average bounce rate from Pinterest traffic? Thanks.

What's the Best Method of Content Distribution
This question is both specific and open ended. I have a new web project I've been working on content for. I paid to have a really sweet research article written and I am in the process of turning it into an info-graphic as well. Being that the the website is so new it doesn't have many customers and few to no blog readership. Now that I will soon have great content for the site should I : A. Post on the Blog ? ( Its a Blogger on a blog. domain.com ) B. Post as a static page on the website ? (domain.com/content) C. Something Else ? Whats the easiest to promote and push traffic to?
