Mobile header and Schema Tags
-
We have recently made a website I work on responsive. This involved taking their original desktop site and then making it work on mobiles/tablets. Due to the nature of their existing header we are serving a different version to mobiles/tablets.
Do the schema tags which are on the desktop header need to be added to the mobile version or are they just needed on the desktop code?

Hi Edward,
Schema tags are intended to a) indicate with more granularity what a given element is on a page (e.g. 'review', 'recipe', 'video file', etc.), and b) this information can sometimes be used by Google for rich snippets in the SERPs. So whether you need to include these tags in the mobile version of your header will depend on what they are describing. If the code for the header is different for the desktop and mobile versions, but you do have the same element and you do want the schema tags to be there, you'll need to include them; if the element which you're marking up in the desktop header isn't present in the mobile header, don't include them.
There aren't currently (to my knowledge) specific Schema tags which indicate a 'mobile site'. (The ones that Robert mentioned seem to be for marking up a page featuring a mobile app). If you had a separate URL for mobile visitors, such as m.domain.com, you would need a mobile 'rel=canonical' tag to avoid duplicate content but that doesn't sound like it's the case for your site.
It sounds to me like you're using dynamic serving, rather than a pure responsive design. (pure responsive only changes the CSS whereas dynamic serving keeps the same URL but serves up different HTML based on user agent). If this is the case, you'll also want to include a vary HTTP header based on user agent. (the Google guidelines for how to do this are here.) This indicates to Google that you are serving a different HTML based on user agent, and not cloaking.
Hope that helps!

Given what you have here, the schema should be added to the mobile.

Sorry if this wasn't clear.. there is a different version of the header which is pulled in for the mobile version. The structure and contents of the desktop header was too complicated to use on a mobile, the client didn't want to amend the design of the desktop site. Only the header section is different, everything else is the same code.

Edward,
When you say you made the site responsive and you serve a different version for mobile and tablets, I have to say I am confused. Are you stating that you made a site responsive, and you are serving a site that is different for mobile/tablet? My first thought is why make the site responsive if you are going to serve a mobile site?
For mobile there is schema that you should use (again, I am assuming you are serving two versions).

Schema for Data in Tables
I'm adding itemprops to data in a table. They are all the same type of data, but each row has different specifications. Is it best to put the data under one tag? Or separate each row into it's own tag?

Pages being flagged in Search Console as having a "no-index" tag, do not have a meta robots tag??
Hi, I am running a technical audit on a site which is causing me a few issues. The site is small and awkwardly built using lots of JS, animations and dynamic URL extensions (bit of a nightmare). I can see that it has only 5 pages being indexed in Google despite having over 25 pages submitted to Google via the sitemap in Search Console. The beta Search Console is telling me that there are 23 Urls marked with a 'noindex' tag, however when i go to view the page source and check the code of these pages, there are no meta robots tags at all - I have also checked the robots.txt file. Also, both Screaming Frog and Deep Crawl tools are failing to pick up these urls so i am a bit of a loss about how to find out whats going on. Inevitably i believe the creative agency who built the site had no idea about general website best practice, and that the dynamic url extensions may have something to do with the no-indexing. Any advice on this would be really appreciated. Are there any other ways of no-indexing pages which the dev / creative team might have implemented by accident? - What am i missing here? Thanks,

Rottentomatoes.com - mobile ranks better than desktop?
Howdy Mozzers, I don't see this very often but figured I would share my findings, no surprise that I found a huge portal like rottentomatoes.com ranking for the keyword: new on dvd , but for the last month or so - the page that is indexed for it is their "mobile" view. ( Screen Shot Attached ) I have a few ideas how you could go about fixing this - but just more of a conversation piece - have many of you ever seen such a thing - especially on a portal so big? Isnt it better to have headlines in H1 and H2 tags instead of p tags?
I am working with a simple site http://http://lightsigns.com/Uniko_Manufacturing_Limited.html They seek more SEO traffic. However, the two big headlines that read "Wholesale Supply to the Sign and Display Industries" which is on line 241 and 242 of the source code, its in a p tag, i.e. <p <span class="webkit-html-tag">style</p <span>="padding-top: 0pt; " class="paragraph_style_1">Wholesale Supply to the and <p <span class="webkit-html-tag">style</p <span>="padding-bottom: 0pt; " class="paragraph_style_1">Sign and Display Industries Likewise, the product titles are in p tags, also. For example, on the Slide-in Light Box product page, http://lightsigns.com/Slide_In_light_box.html , I have done keyword research and no one is using the words slide in light box.Plus, it is also a p tag, ie. line 43 reads style="padding-bottom: 0pt; padding-top: 0pt; " class="paragraph_style">Slide-in Light Box If I suggest that they make an H2 tag with SEO-optimized keywords such as Display Light Box - Slide-In LIght Box, would this indeed help SEO? In summary, is it correct to say that H1 and H2 tags are stronger signals to the search bots of what the page is about?

Will Google hit me because I hide my H1 tag?
I read an article this morning regarding keywords on a web page. In the article it said that Google would hit anyone putting keywords on a web page but then hiding them from anyone visiting the website. This makes sense. What it did make me think about though is the technique I use when building a website. If, for example, I'm building a website for "Acme Cheap Products". In the header of the page, I will have a H1 tag as well as an image tag for the company's logo. As the logo has the company name on it, I would usually put the company name in a H1 tag as well, and then hide the H1 tag, so I wouldn't have a logo and then a title next to it saying the same thing as the logo. The question is though, would this sort of technique trigger Google in to hitting my site?

Multiple h1 headers in a slideshow
I’ve built a slideshow and each slide contains an image, h1 and text contained within a div. The slideshow grabs the whole div and slides it. My question is should I remove the h1 and style it with css e.g. my slide header or leave in the multiple h1 headers. All thoughts and comments welcome.
