"Local Search Volume" For what period (is it a month?)
-
When I look at the heading "Local Search Volume" or, "Global Search Volume...
Are these figures for 1 month (that's what I'm assuming)
Thanks

I would read through this documentation: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3141229?hl=en - but as far as I can tell in there, it's average monthly search volume.
This additional page (https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/3022575) offers the following explanation;
- Average monthly searches ("Avg. monthly searches"): The average number of times people have searched for the exact keyword based on the location and Search Network targeting that you've selected. We average the number of searches for the term over a 12-month period.

Dana, are you sure this is not an average. All the data retrieved from the Google Adwords API where you can get the data from is based on an average for the last 12 months as the documentation says.

FWIW, I find these numbers-without-units in many of these reports not particularly helpful. Like many others here, I use multiple sites including GA, Moz, Raven Tools, and SemRush and far too many columns are lacking units. NASA and Lockheed crashed the Mars Climate Orbiter in 1999 because they were too lazy to include units. Apparently the programmers who are generating these tables did not have my college professors.
Best,

Yes its for a month
-
Yes, this stat is for one month, but it's important to know that it's not an "average" of several months. It's for the most recent month. If you want to see trending for previous months you have to export the data into Excel. This can be an important thing to consider if your business experiences a lot of seasonality or if perhaps you are launching a brand new product that may not have any volume right now, but has significant potential for a lot of volume going forward. It's also important to know that it's local search volume based on your Google Adwords account settings (assuming you are using the new Keyword Planner tool). So if you're settings target only the US, then that's all you are going to see.
I hope that helps a bit. Cheers!
Dana

Can Anyone help me with Google search console soft 404 error?

My post https://hotpass.site/create-subdomain-godaddy/ is showing soft error 404 webpage not available in Google search console. I have rechecked the site and seo settings. Nothing is there. I have even checked it with LIVE URL test. But still Search console is not accepting this URL. Can anyone help me with this? Help will be appriciated.

How do I find out where my "direct traffic" came from?
Last weekend we had a significant rise in traffic to our site. Digging in to Google Analytics, most of it has come from the USA, with some from Canada, Australia and a few other countries. It has all gone to the same article on our website. I have also found that it has mostly come from Safari (in app), on an ipad and iphone. Google Analytics has put this down as Direct traffic. My feeling is that it is not. Could it be from a social media app - perhaps someone with many followers has pinned from our site, or something along these lines. Could it actually be organic search traffic and Google misattributing it as Direct? Bounce rate and time on site is fine, so I don't think it's a bot / spam.

No Search Data in Google Search Console (Search Analytics)
Wondering if anyone has experienced 0 data in their Google Search Console (Search Analytics) and found possible solutions to retrieve data? We have a few clients who, prior to the update to Google Search Console, were getting data regularly in terms of the Search Queries report, but ever since the update to Google Search Console, they are no longer receiving data. As an FYI, both the www and non-www versions of the website are verified in Search Console and the XML Sitemaps and Robots.txt files are clean, tested and working fine. Any insights or experience of sites showing 0 data in Search Analytics? Any possible solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Exact Match in Google Search (Not Adwords)
I was going throught the list of keywords that have sent traffic to my site over the last 7 years and cam across one "A516 grade 70" that had hundreds of variants. Now in a lot of cases search volumes were different as were SERPS. We've tested a few variants with reworked pages (70% similar to original but optimised for variant keyword) and see good SERPS and traffic results. Theres obviously some diminishing returns here for us but the interesting question is when to these variants become an exact match and when not? In some cases the variants are unique because of the spacig, periods and hyphens used. there isn't a clear correlation with exact matc though. Insight appreciated. (Sorry for spelling errors. Form doesn't play nicely with iPad)

Can you get local search numbers/traffic out of Google Analytics?
With Google's new local search I am more curious as to market penetration on keywords that are now localized to my different US cities. I understand that you can separate out Google traffic based on regional Google domains, but I am curious if there is an effective way to separate out searches and keywords based on a my local US Metros? If google cannot do this, any recommendations on products that can? Thanks.
