Advice about resource points
-
Hi there,
We're an online booking portal for the hair and beauty industry, and also provide salon management software. We're thinking of creating a separate subdomain on the main site, probably along the lines of salons.example.com as a resource point and advice centre for salons.
In it, I was thinking of featuring links and extracts from various blog posts I've written on salon marketing, downloadable white papers and featured videos we've created - a sample of each that you can click through to get all the bits on one page i.e. you click a see all vids bit to be taken to a page with all the vids on it.
This is very much conceptual at the moment (though we do have a fair number of resources on the blog and the like), but I'd love it all to be drawn into a helpful section for salons. I'd love to hear what you think about it and whether there are some other ways we might look into doing this. No right answers, hoping for a bit of a debate/advice around resource centres.
Thanks a million!

I would use a subfolder instead of a subdomain

Instead of having the viewers watch all the videos on one "videos" page, try to split them up into topics and have a article with related videos for each. Create a video sitemap and rank all those pages.
Just be careful not to copy/paste the a pre-existing piece of content, otherwise you'll get slapped with duplicate content penalty.

Advice for grouping short content briefs?
We have an engineering website (chemengonline.com) that publishes regularly, including content from our print magazine. In the magazine we have a section called "Chementators" where we highlight new innovations in chemical engineering. These are typically briefs and are often unique from one another. Last year we would group these briefs on a page like this http://www.chemengonline.com/november-chementator-briefs-5/. We recently relaunched our website and in the process decided to break the briefs apart into their own articles like this http://www.chemengonline.com/metal-free-atrp/. Considering the short length of the briefs but technical nature of the content, would you advise keeping them separate or going back to the old way of grouping them together on the same page? And if we group them, could you offer some advice on page title... Ex. "Chementators for February 2015" vs "Chementators - Graphene, Clean Power, Large Scale CCS, Nanoparticles, etc"

Bullet points good or bad for seo?
Hi Everyone, After a body of unique content of say 50 words, will Google then penalise you for adding bullet points which will then be duplicated across all those products (say 100 products)? http://www.polesandblinds.com/acacia-teal-roller-blind/? Look forward to your comments, good or bad, Thanks Jonathan

Where should breadcrumbs point
Hi, On the single product page I such breadcrumbs structure: Home > Women's Shoes > Sandals > Nike > The Name of Shoe Where should the "Nike" part point? To the main "Nike" brand page? Or to the "Women's Nike Sandals" page? At first glance the second variant is more logical, any reason why Zappos links to the main brand page, e.g.: http://www.zappos.com/hudson-amber-raw-edge-hem-short-in-indie-indie ? I'd be very grateful if someone experienced with this stuff will explain. Thank you!

How does a keyword get crawled and pointed at a certain page
I was wondering if you can give me some insight on how a keyword that I put on my campaign gets linked to a specific URL on my website by SEOMoz or Google. For example: updating a brick fireplace is my keyword. On the campaign when I am looking at my on page optimization, the URL assigned (or given) to it is my homepage. How is this determined and is there a way around it and or directing it to the correct page? Thanks

Followed seomoz advice for on page tweaks but dropped
Hi all We followed seomoz advice regarding on-page tweaks for this page: http://www.compactlaw.co.uk/agency-agreement.html Dropped 10 places by Google UK. Obviously could be a coincidence, but any on-page critique very gladly received. (But also seem to have been dropped by Google across the board in the past week or so. Usual trouble of trying to find causes. But specific page advice would be a start and much appreciated.) Regards P

Do anchor links pointing to bottom/top of page count as link?
As the title says: Do anchor links pointing to bottom/top of page count as link? This page: http://www.betxpert.com/forum/bookmakere/vis/ladbrokes-kommentar I has over 300 links, but I don't see that many links. Is it the "#15" and the top/bottom of page anchors that count? Is this harmful in terms of link juice? -Rasmus

Another SEO's point of view
Hiya fellow SEO's I have been working on a site - www.hplmotors.co.uk and I must say it has become difficult due to flaws with the content management system . We are speaking with the web site makers to be able to add a unique title, description to all pages. I know what is wrong but I would also like some 2nd opinions on this and welcome any suggestions for the site. A burnt out seo 🙂 thanks
