The No of Sites linking to www.apollopowersystems.com is 50 as per Alexa, but Moz shows that the no of sites linking is 23\. The no has increased in Alexa but in Moz the no is 23 since 3 months. Why is this Difference?

Hi There,
As I am new to SEO, so the problem that I am listing below may seem very naive. Please help me out.
Please explain me the difference between the no of backlinks of the website, www.apollopowersystems.com as per the websites below. The nos are completely different as per the websites below:
As per www.moz.com the no is 23
As per www.ahrefs.com the no currently is 586
As per www.alexa.com the no is 50
Please tell me why these nos are different. Looking forward to hear from you at the earliest.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Sawan, as David suggested, you need to consolidate the data from different tools as no one tool gives you a comprehensive list of backlinks. You can check out Google webmaster tools account for your website as it gives you very good list.
Just because you have backlinks, you will not be able to drive traffic. It depends on what kind of websites have your link. If you look at your link profile, you can see directories forming the major part. This is 2013 my friend. Generic web directory submissions will take you no where. You need to promote your website on niche directories. You operate in a very narrow, B2B
niche and you should ideally be getting listed on directories like, indiamart.com, indianindsustry.com, tradeindia.com, infobanc.com etc.You should also target websites or blogs or forums where people are talking about your niche who might be interested in your product line. You need a lot to be done on your website regarding on-page optimization also. You should perform a comprehensive keyword research and analysis to come up with the most searched keywords/phrases of your niche, optimize the content of your website for these keywords and so on. Essentially, you will be trying to make your website rank high in the search engines for good keywords in your niche.
Best of luck to you my friend.

Hi David,
Thanks for your response. I did what u suggested. Now I am getting a better picture of the no of backlinks. Your response was helpful. But I still have one doubt. What about Alexa and Moz ? Am I supposed to trust the no's provided by them? As these two are very popular tools, please help me clear my confusion.
Thanks in advance.

Just following on from what David Liu said about Ahrefs, you might find this a very interesting read:
http://www.matthewwoodward.co.uk/experiments/ahrefs-majestic-seo-1-million-domain-showdown/
That being said, I believe Majestic found more backlinks here, although as you will see in that article there is a difference between links reported, and live links.

There is no one best tool for looking at backlinks. AHREFs seems to have the biggest dataset, but they'll all give you different results. If you really want to see what you have, use OSE, Majestic, AHREFs, and any others you like, put them all in one spreadsheet and remove duplicates. Then you'll have your true backlinks picture.

Thanks Mr. Devanur for your response.
I understood what you are saying. But can you please tell me which is the most reliable source to track the no of backlinks. I have heard that www.ahrefs.com is the best out there. Please let me know. Also inspite of the increase in the no of backlinks the traffic to the website is not increasing. Please suggest what is the solution for increasing the traffic to that website. Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks and Regards
Sawan

Yeh, I also use Ahrefs \ Majestic in combination with Moz for this reason, although I only subscribe to those services when needed.

Hi,
I just checked the backlinks to www.apollopowersystems.com using Moz OSE and it says, 161 total links and 58 root domains linking to it. When checked with MajeticSE OSE, I got 858 total links and 148 domains.
Just wanted to let you know that different tools have different data update intervals and frequencies and no two tools will show you the same data. For more info about the backlinks, you can check the Google Webmaster Tools account for the website in discussion. Hope that help. Please feel free to post all your queries you might have in this regard.
Best,
Devanur Rafi

Should i disavow yellowpages.com. Webmater tools shows 656 links coming from it.
We do not have any manual penalty warnings but I am still concerned that Google will see this as unnatural and be penalizing us to a lesser degree.

Links Removed from Site but not Google Webmaster Tools
I have a new client who has been fighting to get past an unnatural links penalty. One of the biggest reasons behind it was that they paid to get a followed link/ad on a blog network, well this ad ended up being a site wide link which ended up giving them thousands of back links within a few days. After getting the owner of the blog network to remove the link i manually spot checked a handful of pages and used screaming frog to crawl looking for a link referencing their site. From what i can tell they are all gone. However they are still in Google Webmaster Tools as well as Google's index and it has been a couple months since they have been removed. Does anyone have any advice on getting them removed from Google's entities even though they are already off of the website? Thank you in advance,

LInk Building Ideas for Large Site
Hi, I have a very large sized website of about 5 Million Pages. Earlier i used to rank very well with many naturally occurred links, But now, i lost my rankings with numerous Google updates. My content is user generated content and it wont be pure original as my users will post the same on other forums too. I all of my pages rank on #1 page for their keywords. Can anyone suggest me good link building strategy for larger websites as each url will have different keyword, i want all of my urls to be ranked well. Waiting for your replies.

My best links not showing in Open Site Explorer
Why is it that OSE does not display my strongest backlinks, including those from Wikipedia, a legitamite .edu, Squidoo, etc.? Some of those links have been live for a long time, and some (not all) are "dofollow". Impossible to do a thorough backlink analysis in this situation.
