Tips for quick SEO
-
Hi guys (first time posting). I'm involved in many differnt marketing activities on an ecommerce site and don't always get a lot of time to focus on SEO (although I appreciate its importance). What are your tips for the most effective SEO tasks to focus on considering these time constraints? Think 80/20 applied to SEO. Thanks. Paul

Your impression is right.Think about it in this way, Google wants to provide the best experience to its customer when they look for something online. If your site hasn't got any issues (technical issues), could be easily indexed by robots, has good original content and most important helps answering customers' queries, you get a step closer to the first page. Indeed link building (or earning), social media, local and whatnot do have a crucial role to improve your site authority, but without a "search engine/visitor friendly" website, all your effort won't be worth as much.
Good luck

Thanks for the update guys. I'm getting the strong impression that site content, crawling issues and on-page optimisation are the critical factors to focus on first. Thanks, Paul.

Site speed is often a quick fix. A faster site can not only help in SEO, but also for conversion factors of course.
Run your site through GTMetrix and have a look at the recommendations that come up. If you click the recommendation, then the "What does this mean?" text in the top right, it'll explain what the change will try to achieve. If you click "read more" on that pop up, more often than not you'll get a tutorial on how you can implement the change.

I would starte with a SEO Audit in order to discover if there are any technical issues with the site (I would use screaming frog/webmaster tools/moz crawl diagnostic). If so I would start fixing these issues first and them move on to On-Page optimization/Content.
Let's say your ecommerce site has 1000 pages, I would focus weekly on 25 pages, creating well written product descriptions, optimized content and so on.
These task should leave you with a well optimized and search engine/customer friendly website which will help you move on to more time consuming and complex SEO tasks
Hope it helps!

WordPress Themes and SEO
I am helping out a client with updating their website.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | cangelmarketer
The theme they currently have hasn't been updated in ages (I am going to guess years). Would there be a difference in updating to the most recent version of their theme and changing them to a completely different theme? Or because they update in the current theme is so large anyway, it won't make a difference in terms of SEO. The reason I ask is that they don't know their Themeforest details to log in and download the most recent version of the theme, so they would have to re-purchase it, and with the hosting, they have access to a range of themes includes in their package. SEO - Ecommerce Small Business Quick Wins
Hi I have a few hurdles I need some help with. I work on an ecommerce site, it's huge but I'm the only SEO. I've identified areas where we can make progress in rankings - we already have pages appearing for those terms, but they still need help to be pushed higher. My issue is - if it's a product listing page & we have all the SEO foundations here already, how can we push this even further? No one in the company wants too much content on this page taking away from products & I've tried adding a small amount - with no results. I know UX is something to be looked at, but I need support from others so this will be slow. Does anyone agree that writing user guides, hub pages & articles that this is a good next step? My only worry is - these pages will also be new and take time to rank so will they help the category pages enough? How can I maximise them? I'm also the only SEO, so really need to pick my battles. Thanks Becky

SEO transfer to new website
My website currently has some strong SEO and i will be re-developing the website on a wordpress platform...which will change many of the existing URL. Will this affect the current pages that are well indexed in Google? Does using Wordpress or changing the URL extension (.html to .php) make a difference? If i want to make a clean transition without effecting our existing SEO...what are some essential steps i need to take? Example. Current page is www.mydomain.com/name.html .... and the new URL would be www.mydomain.com/product/name.php Thanks

Video SEO
Hello All! I'm wondering about the best way to link build and carry on my video trend. I love to create video's with all of my articles as I feel it adds an extra element to just boring old text! The problem is that my current 25 links from Youtube are all NoFollow. This didn't originally bother me, but it's starting too. Is there a couple of websites that I could upload my article/ video to and gain a link from in a similar manner? Come to think of it, is this a good SEO tactic to use?

Where to begin (SEO-wise) with my Website?
Hello, We hired a company to design an e-commerce website for us. Along the way they did some initial SEO design, but we are clearly a long way from where we need to be. I'm not a web-designer or a knowledgeable SEO person. I have the website linked to webtools, google analytics and obviously this site as well. I've been toying with the idea of just trying to accomplish some SEO myself, but the more I read about SEO, the more daunting it seems. I'm a full-time military pilot, so this seems like it involves more time than I have to give. Where do I begin? My Website www.phoenixprintingsolutions.com Thanks in advance

Site structure from an SEO standpoint
I am fortunate enough to be working with a client who is still building their website. From a site structure standpoint, what can I look for with my SEO hat as they build their wire frames and storyboard their site? Is the eCommerce site Shopify SEO friendly?
We ave a prospect client that wants to start doing SEO for his Shopify site, we are unsure if this will be SEO friendly. Will we have enough control to get great placement? Are we better off rebuilding the site for the client in an OpenCart?
