GA Goal Tracking for Proactive Chat
-
Hi all,
Just wondering whether anyone knows how I'd be able to track Proactive Chats as a goal in Google Analytics? So when someone visits our site, and we proactively contact them by initiating a chat (rather than a reactive chat where the visitor initiates it).
Thanks!

The best way to do this is with Google Analytics Event Tracking (not a virtual pageview as was suggested previously). So you may need a developer to do this - but during the same process by which the chat is initiated, trigger a javascript command like the following:
_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Chat', 'Proactive', 'SuccessfulStart']);
You can change the names of those variables to whatever you want. You can do this on any click / button on the site as well with different variables (use the onclick='' part of the <a>link code to do this). </a>
<a>Happy to help further
Here is further documentation: https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/eventTrackerGuide</a>

Hi Adrian,
You could set up a goal by triggering an extra event of pageview when you proactively start a chat with your visitors. By doing this you're able to set up the goal itself in Google Analytics. Some chat applications for your site have by default something like this built in.

Tracking Google places (7 pack listing) traffic in google analytics
Is there a way to see Google Places traffic (traffic from users clicking through the 7 pack listings) segmented in Google analytics ? Normally is it just lumped together with the organic traffic ? Can you see the search phrases used to find your site, or do they also show up under 'not provided' when from Google Places. Im aware i can see some limited data in the Google Places analytics, but these seem to be 2 days behind when ever i view them.

Help w/ Google Event tracking w/ new Universal analytics.js
I want to implement Google event tracking after my visitors complete an estimate form. The form provides them an approximate range of costs based on their widget and widget amount. I have the php coding done, but I don't know JS and I need to send an event upon completion of the estimate form. However, all of Google's examples are button click events. How do I send the event upon completing a form if there is no separate landing page? If I have my Google analytics code on the page as well, would simply adding the following the completed estimate code work?

Cross Domain Goal Tracking
I am trying to set up conversion tracking on a new website. The traffic will be landing on example.com, but the final step of the transaction takes place on app.example.com. This is the first time I have ever done something like this and Google's documentation does not have a lot of details about how to do this in GA. Does the tracking code need to be installed on example.com and app.example.com? when setting up the goal page does it need to be /landing-page/thank-you or app.example.com/landing-page/thank-you is this well documented in google's help finals and i am just calling it the wrong thing?
