Interlinking from unique content page to limited content page

I have a page (page 1) with a lot of unique content which may rank for "Example for sale". On this page I Interlink to a page (page 2) with very limited unique content, but a page I believe is better for the user with anchor "See all Example for sale". In other words, the 1st page is more like a guide with items for sale mixed, whereas the 2nd page is purely a "for sale" page with almost no unique content, but very engaging for users.
Questions:

Is it risky that I interlink with "Example for sale" to a page with limited unique content, as I risk not being able to rank for either of these 2 pages

Would it make sense to "no index, follow" page 2 as there is limited unique content, and is actually a page that exist across the web on other websites in different formats (it is real estate MLS listings), but I can still keep the "Example for sale" link leading to page 2 without risking losing ranking of page 1 for "Example for sale"keyword phrase
I am basically trying to work out best solution to rank for "Keyword for sale" and dilemma is page 2 is best for users, but is not a very unique page and page 2 is very unique and OK for users but mixed up writing, pictures and more with properties for sale.

As a new website I think safe bet is to include all content on 1 page. Keyword variation means content stays seperated. Better combine and make 1 powerful page.....thx for the insight

Both of those are good solutions - so choose one or the other. If you choose the keyword variation route, then make sure you go through and edit the content on each page to properly reflect the new focus.

Page 1 has great statistics. Page 2 is more of a guide with videos, pics and more. If page 1 tried to rank for "NEIGHBORHOOD Homes for Sale" and Page 2 "NEIGHBORHOOD Real Estate" would this be different enough? Or, you feel I should really move all that unique content (pics, videos etc) on lower part of Page 1 and use a 301 redirect and shut down Page 2?

The issue is two pages on the same site trying to rank for the same keyword. They're going to be fighting against each other and confusing search engines.
It's better to either combine the pages (option 1), or to give them a separate target keyword (option 2). Option #2 is probably easier, but you'll still need to make the user-friendly page more search friendly, and vice versa. Option 1 is probably better if you can add search-friendly text content beneath the map portion of the page, and ditch page 2.

thanks, Kane. This is the page best for user: http://www.honoluluhi5.com/oahu/honolulu/metro/waikiki-condos/ - I have added stats on lower part of page and will soon add more unique written content so other similar MLS result pages look apart and not too similar. I have noindex, follow on page 2 to n to avoid looking like duplicate content as many other real estate sites will have same listings, just in a different format.
This is the page search engines will like (but not ideal for users): http://www.honoluluhi5.com/waikiki-condos-real-estate/ - short-term I will probably rank better for that page and long-term the page best for the user.
Question: what is the issue trying to rank for similar keyword? As you can see my H1, title tag and meta des are different on those 2 pages, but similar. I am interested in "NEIGHBORHOOD condos for sale" users and not users searching "Guide to NEIGHBORHOOD". Unless it has a negative impact on my pages ranking potential, I believe this is best structure. If you have examples with issues that would be great

I would make some slight variations from the two pages. For example, make page 1 "Seattle Homes For Sale" and page 2 "Seattle Home Listings". This avoids the issue of having two pages going after that same keyword and allows you to get more granular for the terms you want to rank for.
If both pages are almost identical content, then I would consider canonicals as a solution, but it doesn't sound to me like that's the case here.

Would you say page 2 is a subset of page 1 ? Is there duplicate content between the 2 pages ?If yes, you can consider doing a canonical tag to page 1 on both page 1 and page 2. This way only your page 1 will rank.

Dynamic Pages with No Results Causing Thin Content
Hi Mozers, We have dynamic listing pages that pull in clinical trial results for specific disease types. Sometimes diseases have clinical trials and sometimes they don't. This means that sometimes the page will have zero results and sometimes it will return results. We have a sizable number of these so that when there are zero results, these pages look like thin content. What is the recommended method of dealing with this? Is there a way of doing a conditional noindex where the page is indexed if results are pulled in and and not indexed when the page returns zero results? If we can do this, should we? Will it confuse Google and send negative signals? Any guidance/thoughts are much appreciated! Yael

Will Using Attributes For Landing Pages In Magento Dilute Page Rank?
Hello Mozzers! We have an ecommerce site built on Magento. We would like to use attribute filters in our layered navigation for landing page purposes. Each page will have a unique URL, Meta Title and Meta Description. For example: URL: domain.com/art/abstract (category is Art, attribute is Abstract) Title: Abstract Art For Sale Meta: Blah Blah Blah Currently these attribute pages are not being indexed by google as they are set in google parameters. We would like to edit google parameters to start indexing some of the attribute filters that users search for, so they can be used as landing pages. Does anyone have experience with this? Is this a good idea? What are the consequences? Will this dilute Page Rank? Could this destroy the world? Cheers! MozAddict

Should i redirect this page?
Hi I have the following 2 pages: http://www.over50choices.co.uk/Funeral-Planning.aspx http://www.over50choices.co.uk/Funeral-Planning/Funeral-Plans.aspx My dilema is that google sees the words "funeral planning" & "funeral plans" as the same thing, which might explain why the "funeral plan" page is not ranked v well. My issue is that the "funeral planning" page is at category level and introduces the wider subject of funeral planning, which isnt just funeral plans, so if i 301 my "funeral plan" page i will have no where to talk about funeral plans. My question is, Is the "funeral plan" page not ranked v well because of this or do i just need better optimisation of the funeral plan page so google is clear which is the key focus for each page? Noindexing Duplicate (non-unique) Content
When "noindex" is added to a page, does this ensure Google does not count page as part of their analysis of unique vs duplicate content ratio on a website? Example: I have a real estate business and I have noindex on MLS pages. However, is there a chance that even though Google does not index these pages, Google will still see those pages and think "ah, these are duplicate MLS pages, we are going to let those pages drag down value of entire site and lower ranking of even the unique pages". I like to just use "noindex, follow" on those MLS pages, but would it be safer to add pages to robots.txt as well and that should - in theory - increase likelihood Google will not see such MLS pages as duplicate content on my website? On another note: I had these MLS pages indexed and 3-4 weeks ago added "noindex, follow". However, still all indexed and no signs Google is noindexing yet.....

Urgent Site Migration Help: 301 redirect from legacy to new if legacy pages are NOT indexed but have links and domain/page authority of 50+?
Sorry for the long title, but that's the whole question. Notes: New site is on same domain but URLs will change because URL structure was horrible Old site has awful SEO. Like real bad. Canonical tags point to dev. subdomain (which is still accessible and has robots.txt, so the end result is old site IS NOT INDEXED by Google) Old site has links and domain/page authority north of 50. I suspect some shady links but there have to be good links as well My guess is that since that are likely incoming links that are legitimate, I should still attempt to use 301s to the versions of the pages on the new site (note: the content on the new site will be different, but in general it'll be about the same thing as the old page, just much improved and more relevant). So yeah, I guess that's it. Even thought the old site's pages are not indexed, if the new site is set up properly, the 301s won't pass along the 'non-indexed' status, correct? Thanks in advance for any quick answers!

Homepage Content
I have a website which perform very well for some keywords and much less for other keywords. I would like to try to optimize the keywords with less performance. Let's say our website offers 2 main services: KEYWORD A and KEYWORD Z. KEYWORD Z is a very important keyword for us in terms of revenue. KEYWORD A gives us position Nr 1 on our local Google and redirect properly the visitors to xxxxxx.com/keyword-a/keyword-a.php KEYWORD Z perform badly and gives us position Nr 7 on local Google search. 90% Google traffic is sent to xxxxxx.com/keyword-z/keyword-z.php and the other 10% is sent to the home page of the website. The Homepage is a "soup" of all the services our company offers, some are important (KEYWORD Z) and other much less important. In order to optimize the keyword KEYWORD Z we were thinking to make a permanent redirect for xxxxxx.com/keyword-z/keyword-z.php to xxxxxx.com and optimize the content of the Homepage to ONLY describe our KEYWORD Z. I am not sure if Google gives more importance in the content of the homepage or not. Of course links on the homepage to other pages like xxxxxx.com/keyword-a/keyword-a.php will still exists. The point for us is maybe to optimize better the homepage and give more importance to the KEYWORD Z. Does it make sense or not?

We are changing ?page= dynamic url's to /page/ static urls. Will this hurt the progress we have made with the pages using dynamic addresses?
