Competitive metrics
-
Hello everyone. Looking at the competitive metrics section and I realize, I know nothing about this. Is there a tutorial to explain these? I noticed that my Domain Authority has dropped in the past week. Curious of why and exactly what this means?

Learn section at Moz.com might help you understand much about metrics that are available in the report as far as DA is concern; it is the total authority of the website. For more information on DA, you can read here: http://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority
The DA of the website if goes down them may be yours number of total links are low or this can be the result of the Moz index update.
Hope this helps!

What's a good way to get started with competitive research?
Hi all, SEO noob here. I'm doing an audit for a firm that makes specialized accounting software. It's a relatively new firm, with a barebones website. My client has identified three direct business competitors. In addition, I see indirect competitors (such as product reviews) on the SERP for a relevant keyword phrase. I want to provide actionable advice for my client. What information should I present? I'd like to help my client understand: Why my client's competitors are outperforming them on the SERPs What my client needs to do to overtake their competitors What information should I present to my client? Thanks, all.

Looking for Competitive Research Tool Recommendations
Hi Moz Community! I'm doing research for a client and trying to gain insights around their competitors website data. Specifically trying to see what landing pages on the competitors site receive the most traffic. Does anyone currently use a tool that shows estimated traffic here? As an FYI, outside of MOZ Pro (which I love), I use SpyFu and SimilarWeb. Right now my client's landing page traffic is mainly homepage traffic and we want to make reccos on where to grow outside the homepage to increase visibility in other specific areas where there is search demand. We have a good idea but I'm hoping the competitor web data will back up those recommendations. Any recommendations here would be super valuable! Thank you in advance for your time. Abbi

Open Site Explorer is not showing dmT. Where do I go to get this metric.
Just trying to understand the video I watched on Link Building w/ Open Site Explorer. I'm not seeing the dmT metric in the live version. Has it been replaced by something else. Or is there someplace else I need to look for it?

Understanding Competitive Domain Analysis
I'm finding this site great for getting at the information that I need but I am having trouble understanding what I see as conflicting Competitive Domain Analysis and keyword research results for companies in my sector. My company is new to the sector we are in and I am tracking two really well established leaders (Moma and Poppa bear) and one company that is new to the sector (baby Bear) too. When looking at the competitive domain analysis the Momma and Poppa Bear wipe the floor with baby bear (and of course me!) on every single criteria; but when I see who is actually ranking best for the most competitive keywords for our sector who wins...baby bear; I just dont understand it. What is the reason for the disparity between the domain analysis and actual performance? Many thanks, Sinead

Subdomain Metrics
Hi All, I have been looking in the forums but could not quite find an appropriate answer to my question. I have a site that has no subdomains, in my htaccess non www redirects to www. So I would think that the subdomain metrics in seomoz would be the exact same for root and subdomain. However, it appears that I get almost all the Ticks for my site over my competition on the root domain, but do poorly in the sub domain area compared to competition. Also, it shows that I only have 2 links for everything in the sub domain section. Any I reading something wrong, or is this correct? Thanks in advance

Discrepancy in Competitive Link Analysis?
I currently have a campaign set-up that monitors a few competitors compared to our site. When I look at the Root Domain Metrics I see that Company A has 2,053 total external links, and Company B has 1,632 total external links. I wanted to view these links in more detail so I ran Advanced Inbound Links reports. The reports returned 432 results for Company A and 693 results for Company B. Shouldn't these numbers match up with each other, or am I missing something? Also, I noticed that in the Inbound Links analysis for my competitors there are a number of results listed that are not actually inbound links, but are internal links from there own site. Is there a reason these are appearing? I am having problems because I am trying to use this campaign to show the improvements in our site vs our competitors. However, OSE shows dramatically fewer total external links for our site (about 260 vs 3200 in Webmaster Tools) and I cannot tell if the competitor data is accurate? Thanks
