Can relative links PLUS multiple hompage versions spell disaster?
-
I still see internal links to default.asp from every other .asp page even though I have updated most of the relative /default.asp links to www.site.com since I 301 redirected it. I am seeing this in Open Site Explorer for one.
(I'm sure my lack of understanding has to do with not quite getting the purpose of default.asp.) Anyways, I am wondering if all the relative links throughout the site pointing to other .asp pages need to be updated to absolute links (so www.site.com/page.asp instead of /page.asp) for me to avoid this problem. Does one even have anything to do with the other?

Hi Kimberly,
Sorry this question has gone so long without a reply: I've just been directed to it.
If the internal links to /default.asp (relative links) result in a 301 redirect, taking people to www.site.com/, there is technically no problem with that set-up. It would be better if the links pointed directly to www.site.com/ as a small amount of authority is lost in a 301 redirect, but is not disastrous by any means.
I am not sure that updating internal links to point to www.site.com/page.asp instead of /page.asp is the solution to the home page will solve this problem though - did you manually update the relative links to absolute links that have been fixed?

Joomla Opencart Duplicate Link Issue
With a few recent catalog changes my client is having tons of duplicate content issues. The most peculiar is one that I cannot see visibly on the site pages. This page: http://www.CLIENTDOMAIN.com/catalog/lights.html shows to have several duplicate content issues with URLs such as: http://www.CLIENTDOMAIN.com/catalog/lights/Lamp-DRW.htmlhttp:/www.CLIENTDOMAIN.com - where the domain is basically added to the end of the first URL. Has anyone seen this? Any fixes, plugins or thoughts? Thanks,

Inbound links not found on OSE
I have live inbound links for the site htp://vpnexpress.net, but OSE reports nothing found. How long does it usually take for them to index high PR site links? Thanks.

Is canonical link enough?
Hi SEOmozers! I have a question. SEOmoz analysis report me some duplicate that I thought I had fix. I can give a concrete example. This page: http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/events/dec2011training-boston/moreinfo is reported as having 6 duplicated URL in the tool. When I click on 6, SEOMOZ tells me "Our crawl bots are getting their joints greased to fetch you even better data. Sorry for the delay!" And on the page itself, I placed a canonical link to follow recommandation. rel="canonical" href="http://www.nuxeo.com/en/about/events/apr2012training-boston" /> As a result I am curious why I would have this reported as duplicate by SEOmoz. Is this a bug? Thanks for feedback!

Link from home page
I see an abundance of websites that don't link out at all, and there is no data available to seoMoz for the sites, some like http:// regal - diving dot com (trying not to get moderated AGAIN Innocent need to show which link and its a competitor kind of) are not linking to anyone else just internal links. How come they dont show info to SEOMOZ Should I link out from home page, is this detrimental does ANY single link from home page show google that I am not a PROPER web business. thanks

There are a lot of images in our site and at the same time we support 11 languages which adds additional links One of the pages that have a lot of links is www.florahospitality.com/dining.aspx What can you <a></a>suggest to fix this? Moz tool bar showing less links
Just checked our links for a couple of our sites and noticed that the number of inbound links has dropped from around 55,000 to 13,000 on one and from 6000 to 700 on the other. GWMT still showing the previous amounts. Anyone else experienced this over the last few days?
