Is this site structure going to kill link juice?
-
This is a parallax type page and the navigation basically points you to the homepage every time. The sub-menu on the secondary pages only ushers you down the page to various topics. This design has concerned me for some time but I'd like another opinion.

Ah, I see what you mean Alan and I'm inclined to agree. With the JS you mentioned, there's no risk of a user (or crawler) being taken away from the page itself, so no link would be passed and "diluted", as it were. Thanks for posting this!

Thanks!

I differ in thinking here on one point.
I believe that links pointing to the same page have the same decay as any other link. That page rank flows out of them just the same, obviously it goes to the same page but some of it is lost every time.
What I do and looks much better is use javascript to scroll to that spot,
$('html, body').animate({ scrollTop: $("#mytarget").offset().top - 70 }, 'slow');
This will scroll to your anchor, the offset lets you position things nice.Even if I am wrong, the scrolling animation looks and feels much better

I think this could be happening because of the way Google interprets the - I tried it with the opening quote, but not the closing quote and it worked. Notice too that the text that's highlighted (or bolded) in the search result is everything up to the

Yes, that is interesting. Strange.

Interestingly if I search it without quotes it comes right up just fine.

Thanks. That has been a big concern for me. We consolidated quite a few pages into one long page but our organic traffic has gone up so I guess so far so good? We are in the process of re-vamping our keywords and re-adjusting our content to match. I'm not sure if I should bring this up or not.

Here is a text grab from the "products" section of that page....

When I search google for that text string in quotes.... the only thing that is found is a scraper and your adwords.
I converted some pages to one of these fancy pants formats and my longtail traffic into those pages tanked.

Hi there
I see what you're getting at here, but there's no great cause for concern.
So, all of those hash links (#) are internal anchors. Link juice (specifically Page Rank) does not pass and is not lost with an internal anchor. It only passes on full links - like the text links you have to other pages on the homepage. It won't try to pass (and then fail) on any internal anchors - so link juice won't be "killed" by them, so to speak.
One thing you'll need to keep in mind is how people link to you externally. To ensure all of the "link juice" from an external site is passed to yours, make sure that they link to you without any internal anchors (basically, your URL without any of the #'s).
However, even then, my recent tests have shown that the majority of the strength (if not all) will pass anyway. Seems to me that Google at least treats these internal anchors very well and will recognise where to pass the "link juice" even if one is present in a URL.
So, from a strictly SEO and internal structure point of view, I don't think there's too much to be concerned about here. If it works for you user experience wise etc. I'd say keep it for sure.

Wordpress #comment links?
We just started our trial account and have the results from our first Moz Pro Site Crawl. It's showing that we have a large portion of our pages have 'Too Many Links' and I'm trying to determine exactly what this means and how to fix it. The article referenced is from 2011 and doesn't fully address what I'm looking for. Here are a few questions: 1. Can we lower the 'link count' by adding a 'no follow' or does too many links, count links regardless? The question being, is the only way to solve this by removing links or are their no follow or no index options that will prevent us from having this issue moving forward? 2. Comment Links: Our site is in Wordpress and I just recognized that each of the comment links are followed: https://screencast.com/t/b0CIKVafWw. These aren't links from our users, rather these are links within Wordpress and are structured like this: https://mysite.com/blog-post/#comment-6970. From my screenshot you can see they are highlighted as 'followed links'. Is there a setting within Wordpress to turn this off or is there another option I should consider? Should we just make these no index, no follow links? Will that solve the 'Too many links' problem? I searched through the Q&A's and couldn't find an answer directly to my question. Most were around people leaving links in the comments section, which isn't what I'm looking for. Thank you for any help you can provide.

URL Structure on Category Pages
Hi, Currently, we having the following URL Structure o our product pages: All Products Pages: www.viatrading.com/wholesale/283/All_Products.html Category Page: www.viatrading.com/wholesale/4/Clothing.html Product Page: www.viatrading.com/wholesale/product/LOAD-HE-WOM/Assorted-High-End-Women-Clothing-Lots.html?cid=4 Since we are going to use another frontend system, we are thinking about re-working on this URL Structure, using something like this: All Products Pages: www.viatrading.com/wholesale-products/ Category Page: www.viatrading.com/wholesale-products/category/ Product Page: www.viatrading.com/wholesale-products/category/product-title/ I understand this is better for SEO and user experience. However, we already have good traffic on the current URL Structure. Should we use same left-side filters on Category Pages as in All Products Page? Since we are using Faceted Navigation, when users filter the Category (e.g. Clothing) they will see same page as Clothing Category Page. Is that an issue for Duplicate Content? Since we are a wholesale company - I understand is using "/wholesale/products/" in URL for all product pages a good idea? If so, should we avoid word "wholesale" in product-title to avoid repeated word in URL? For us, SKU in URL helps the company employees and maybe some clients identify the link. However, what do you think of using the SEO-friendly product-title, and 301 redirect it to www.viatrading.com/BRTA-LN-DISHRACKS/, so 1st link is only used by company members and Canonicalized 2nd is the only one seen by general public? Thank you,

Anyone know of a tool to monitor site for outgoing links?
Is there any type of tool that can monitor a large website's outgoing links? I'm dealing with a huge site and was hoping there was something available that could check outgoing links without having to go through each page manually. (I'm looking to remove anything that links to a bad neighborhood). Thanks.

Navigation causing too many links
If I add pages to my site to cover major cities/towns/counties in the UK where I offer wedding bands and link them from the navigation using drop down menus/categories ( I believe this is the best option to allow users to find what they are looking for) I get a'too many links on page' flag. How can I best get around this problem?

Too many on page links
Our home page (and 1400 of our other pages) have well over 100 links, going beyond the recommend amount. Our competitors have less on page links (to other pages on their site) and way more link popularity so we are trying to figure out the best solution for this without hurting our sites conversions and usbaility.
