Static or Dynamic Home Page? Please Help!
-
Hi again
I ask for ur input again my friends
I finally decided to go for the shorter .COM domain, and I put my domain online.
Since it will be an online games site, every post will be in fact a new game. And of course, every game, will be in fact a post.
I put my home page as "latest posts" this way, all my posts are shown in home page, and posts being for me games, all my games appear on my home page. So my home page always has the latest games and is always fresh.
The theme I use has the option to ad some "static content" at the end of the posts, on home page, for SEO. I my home page I have also about 300 words of "article" content, that never changes, and is for seo, since my post content, is in fact java script, and other html codes ( flash games). So my home pages is that article plus excerpts of latest post.
But the problem is, that I cannot control the seo, on page this way, and I cannot control my keywords very well, or the density of them, since the home page isnt a page.
Now the question is, to let my Home page as it is, or change it and set it up as a page. I can put games on pages to, that is not a big problem.
What is best, for the future of the site, google ranking, and seo, in ur opinion.
I ad that I recived "A" Grade on moz for Page Seo Grade!
Thank You!

Hi again Catinas,
I would say that, ultimately, worry less about SEO and more about what's best for visitors/customers. Especially because Google tends to think like a potential customer, so if you stick with that in mind, you should be OK.
That being said, as a gamer myself, I think the best method would be to keep your content dynamic. Also, is the article you mention actually useful for customers, or is it really only for SEO purposes? Because Google's becoming more and more savvy with its algorithms, and you may want to rethink that particular strategy. Good luck!

Should I change our main category pages to product listing pages?
With the thought of improving user experience, as well as rankings in Google, I'm considering changing our main category pages to product listing pages (with sub-categories remaining, still). These main category pages are very standard and don't link to any informational content, such as buyers guides, etc. What's driven this is the latest Google core update. I've noticed our main competitor (who we were out-ranking before... but not now) now uses this approach. I can see the benefit from a user perspective, i.e. less clicks to reach products. What's the pros/cons from an SEO point of view, please? Could the potential duplication of content be an issue? For context, we have about 2,000 products and website is on Magento 2.

Pages for similar keywords?
I have a site that wants to target the keywords listed below. They are a small company with just a few ski chalets in Val d'Isere, a ski resort in France. They don't have ski chalets in any other ski resort. Val d'Isere chalets

Would you reply on the homepage to rank for all these terms or create seperate pages for the terms, and if so how would you group the terms per page?0 -
Duplicate Page Content
Hi, I am new to the MOZ Pro community. I got the below message for many of my pages. We have a video site so all content in the page except the video link would be different. How can i handle such pages. Can we place adsense AD's on these pages? Duplicate Page Content Code and content on this page looks similar or identical to code and content on other pages on your site. Search engines may not know which pages are best to include in their index and rankings. Common fixes for this issue include 301 redirects, using the rel=canonical tag, and using the Parameter handling tool in Google Webmaster Central. For more information on duplicate content, visit http://moz.com/learn/seo/duplicate-content. Please help me to know how to handle this.. Regards

URL for location pages
Hello all We would like to create clean, easy URLs for our large list of Location pages. If there are a few URLs for each of the pages, am I right when I'm saying we would like this to be the canonical? Right now we would like the URL to be: For example
On-Page Optimization | | Ferguson
Domain.com/locations/Columbus I have found some instances where there might be 2,3 or more locations in the same city, zip. My conclusion for these would be: adding their Branch id's on to the URL
Domain.com/locations/Columbus/0304 Is this an okay approach? We are unsure if the URL should have city,State, zip for SEO purposes?
The pages will have all of this info in it's content
BUT what would be best for SEO and ranking for a given location? Thank you for any info!0 -
Page Rank
I had just made a 301 re-direct on one of our product pages which had a PR of 4, now that Google has indexed the new page, it's now got a PR of 0, i'm struggling to understand why this could be, i know that you may see a drop of 1, which has happened in the past, but this drop just does not make sense. Any ideas of why this could be? Kind Regards

Adding dynamic item to static page - good for SEO?
We have a static page we want to rank for a competitive phrase. Would it help, or would it make little to no difference, if we added a small dynamic item to the page so that each time the googlebot visited the page it wouldn't be 100% the same as the last time it visited? The reason to do this would be because of the belief that Google likes pages that update once in a while. The dynamic portion of the page wouldn't be as simple as a page counter, but it wouldn't be very elaborate either. A tiny portion of the page. Think of something like current temperature or current CPU utilization (it won't be that, but it will be a small updating number that is not incrementing like current time or a page counter). Would that make any difference at all? (I know there will be responses that I should add real updating data to the page to make it dynamic; let's take that one off the table for right now --trying to see if there's something I can do that is simpler for now). Thanks.

Woah, my A-grade optimized pages that were on the first page have all vanished outside the top 50 in Google... is this Panda?
Yep as mentioned, I had some pages hit the top ten pretty quickly after ensuring they were A-grade for pretty uncompetitive keywords however, today, all bar 2 have just vanished from the top 50! All were ranking in Google.co.uk and I know we were predicting the Panda update to hit soon but WOW! My client is understandably a little upset, what on earch do I tell him and what should I do about it? Cheers! jT
