Lots of 404s listed in Top Pages by Page Authority
-
Hi guys,
I'm slowly getting to grips with all the aspects of using Moz.
Looking at my link analysis, under the tab labelled Top Pages by Page Authority, there's an awful lot of 404 pages listed. Are these pages which are being linked to (either internally or externally), and should I put a 301 redirect on all the pages listed?I've attached a picture...

Sorry to revive this old thread, but I don't see a better place to put this.
I am looking at the same report - I have a ton of 404's on the list, however I have implemented 301 redirects already. Will this list update as the 301's get indexed? Is it possible to have this list reflect the new pages that the 301's point to? As it sits right now, the "Top pages by Authority" report is useless as it's showing me old pages that no longer exist.
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Chad

Thanks for your reply Joe, very helpful.
now it's pointed out to me, it's obvious there's nothing pointing at the pages listed.
I'm wondering how these URLs are even being picked up though. Looking at the structure (/shop/article), they're possibly from an old version of our online shop... so mostly the products still exist, just not on those URLs. It might be worth putting a stack of 301 redirects in place of those 404s, or it might be a complete waste of time... II'm sure your blog post will help me decide. Thanks Again.
(edit)... yeah i reckon I'll 301 all those pages on which the products still exist... seems to make sense.
But I'd still like to understand where these URLs are being picked up... if they're not on our website and not found in In-Bound Links, where are they being found or generated???

That second column titled LRD's means "Linking Root Domains" so from what I can see from your screenshot, you have 0 external links to each of those pages. I'm not sure off the top of my head but I think if you click that 'Export CSV' button in the top right it gives you much more information including internal links. If that one doesn't, then exporting a Moz crawl report will give you what you need.
In general, if your 404 pages are gone and are not of much use, it's ok to let them 404. See the Not Found section of this post http://moz.com/blog/how-to-fix-crawl-errors-in-google-webmaster-tools and read the two other links in that section for more info.

Inherited a site - no progress being made, no authority?
Hi all, would really appreciate some input on this one. I've been given the task of optimising a website which was built by another company. It's a Wordpress site using Jigoshop. It wasn't in the best of states, and I don't claim that it is now, though we've done quite a bit of work on it. However, after months of work on it, I feel it's not going anywhere. Naturally my customer wants to see results, and they're not getting much. I've submitted the website to a couple of highly regarded directories, and I believe it's listed on some speciality directories (Asian clothing directories). I've also started them on the task of blogging, and I'm trying to get them involved with guest blogging. There's a DA of 1, OSE reports No Data Available for this URL. The Competitive Domain Analysis shows no links at all. I could understand if I started the campaign last week, but we got going in around January this year. One thing that's crossed my mind is that it's quite a slow-loading website. It's with GoDaddy on some cheap hosting plan (not my doing!!). I understand loading times can affect results - could this be the case? It's a bit disheartening really, because we've had really good success with a lot of local businesses' websites but with this one we just can't seem to get it anywhere! 😞 If anyone could shine a bit of light I'd really appreciate it. The URL is bangle-box.co.uk. Thanks in advance!

List ranking analysis for all keywords?
I would love to see the option of having the ranking analysis listed for all my keywords! As it it now I have to click and get the numbers one by one and manually create a spreadsheet in order to have an overview of which keywords to pursue. I want to see my google ranking for each keyword next to information on how many people search for that term (in my country of choice - google.xxx) and the keyword competition in % Please tell me there's a way to do this and save me a truckload of time!

Can I exclude pages from my Crawl Diagnostics?
Right now my crawl diagnostic information is being skewed because it's including the onsite search from my website. Is there a way to remove certain pages like search from the errors and warnings of the crawl diagnostic? Why is my domain authority dropping?
I have been fixing broken links, doing a lot of on-site SEO keyword and page title improvement, and steadily building inbound links. Yet my domain authority and MozRanking is dropping, though my keyword rankings are improving. What is going on? Should I be concerned? How can I find out why my domain ranking is dropping, and how (and should I) fix this? Is this because I do not have a blog yet? What factors determine domain authority?
