Google MyBusiness Profile Pictures not Showing
-
Can someone tell me why some search profiles in maps don't show the profile image? Meaning the business has pictures in their profiles, including their main profile, its at 100% completion and the audience is not age restricted and the images still don't show?
Attached is an example (not my clients but you can see what happens)
I appreciate any ideas!
Thanks

Thanks so much for saying so, Tom, and glad to hear you're feeling better. I don't travel much, so I don't have anything scheduled, but thanks for asking. Have a good weekend!
-
Hi Miriam,
Yes i'm feeling 1 million times better thank you for asking.
Are you attending any events this year?
By the way great info on the Google local updates in so many posts I've read from you. I am really impressed.
All the best,
Thomas

Hey Tom,
Hope you're feeling better! Sadly, I was not at LocalU. Hope you have fun at the upcoming events.
-
Hi Linda,
I am sorry to hear that.
Yes I had unexpectedly had to do the root canal fun times so I was not able to monitor anything to be honest with you guys. But I have a client who has returned absolutely ecstatic from it so I am very happy about this.
we can talk about the same thing now it's awesome.
I will be at searchlove & mozcon
Hope to see you at one,
Tom

Hi Thomas,
Sorry about the root canal. I didn't go. Have back problems and can't travel. So I stayed here and covered all the news via Twitter. Have heard nothing but rave reviews!
Miriam, did you go?
-
Hi Miriam & Linda,
amazing I did not expect to see what I found there.
Did you both attend localU I had a root canal issue and was unable to attend unfortunately but I did have a client go who absolutely loved it. I wish I could've seen you there.
All the best,
Thomas

Thanks Miriam.
It's buried in a thread on another topic, but shows screenshots of the same problem described here.

Hey Linda -
My mistake, then - I had assumed MM would be better the GMB for a maps-based issue. Please, feel free to link to your forum thread about this, as it could be very helpful for Mgordon. So helpful to know you may be seeing a new, emerging issue there. Thank you for taking the time to share this
-
Miriam, MM guys usually won't deal with GMB issues at all. If it's a problem in the GMB dashboard, then I think it's GMB support you should call.
But I started getting reports at my forum about that exact same missing image problem today. Many of my users said when they checked the listing, their images had mysteriously been moved to a "scrapbook" folder in the photos tab.
One of my users said: "I have also noticed with a few clients that pics that were directly on the GMB page were relocated to a "scrapbook" folder in the photos tab. Not sure why, but some of them seem to be going back and forth on the GMB page."
So I think something is up with images. I'm pretty sure support will tell you it's a technical problem and they are working on it. I plan to ask Google local management tomorrow and will try to remember to report back here if I find out anything.

Hey there!
If you discover that your images already meet Google's requirements, this is one I'd take to the Mapmaker forum:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/map-maker
You'll need to be able to reveal the actual account details there, of course, so that the RERs can take a look at what you're seeing. Without being able to see the result, this may be hard to diagnose.

Google has cracked down on low quality photographs they want photos that are 2000 pixels wide the smallest can get away with his 500 pixels
"min 500x500 px. For best results, add photos that are at least 2,000 px wide and no wider than 2:1 ratio."
_ See the bottom of the URL referenced from _https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038221
This is what Google recommends for their my business which must also be approved and you should have no less than 10 photographs of relevant pictures regarding what your company does and especially of your business.

Google Local Listing Visibility for Regional Queries
I manage a variety of small local programs that are located in areas that are more known by the region than they are by the town (the Adirondacks and the Catskills to be specific). In the past, the local algorithm understood that when the query was related to the region, it would show a variety of results from that region. It seems that for the Catskills they have changed the algorithm to pinpoint the center of the region and only show results that are in the near vacinity of that pinpoint, rather than a variety of results from the region. The Adirondacks however is still showing a variety of results. For those of you not familiar, the Adirondack are 9,375 square miles and the Catskills are 5,892 square miles and are both very rural mountain regions and popular travel destinations. Google clearly understands that these regions are geographically oriented and shows a local pack for relevant results such as "Catskills Resorts" or "Catskills Restaurants", but over the past few weeks, they have started only showing 2 results for the query Catskills resorts, both located near Shandaken, NY becasue that is where Google has deemed the marker for the Catskills is (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Catskill+Mountains/@42.009289,-74.3996212,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89dc665668f82f31:0x3b012376423b8efa!8m2!3d42.0092908!4d-74.3821116) In reality, there are hundreds of resorts within the Catskills. (Note there is a Catskill, NY within the Catskills, however Google is not even confusing this town with the region). Does anyone have ideas on how to get Google to understand that the Catskills are more than Shandaken, NY? I feel like we suddenly have no hope of ranking locally and most of the businesses I manage are located in very small towns that people are not specifically searching for.

[Local Search] Do you get penalized by using a Google Voice number for each seperate business location?
My client is expanding and opening up separate locations and I will be getting all their online business listings up and running. The client wants to use a single 1-888 number for all locations, however, it was my assumption that they would need a local number for each location to improve their ranking. Could I suggest using free Google voice numbers that get forwarded to their 1-888 number or will Google discredit us for this?

Google Places - Remove Completely vs. Permanently Closed?
This is a bit confusing to explain so bear with me please. We have a client that used to have an old law practice with a partner. The site and backlinks were very large and it had a lot of domain authority. It also had a very large citation profile and history. The two lawyers have since split, but there remains multiple Google Places listings out there for the old partnership. We have fixed the one showing the old business practice name, but not the one that he setup for his personal name. One of the biggest hassles is that the old location he setup has his attorney name in the actual listing. The issue is that we cannot close the old listing (we tried this), as it comes up permanently closed when you Google his name. If you search for his new Law Firm, the correct business listing that we have set up will show. The new listing also includes his name and has over 50 five star reviews. We hoped that the large amount of legitimate reviews would get rid of or at least suppress the old listing, but it is not happening. So I am a bit confused as to what to do. If we close the old listing Google shows the red "permanently closed" listing when you Google his name. We cannot update the old listing information to show his new address as then it will compete with the new listing that we setup that shows all the positive reviews. The old listing was not created by us, and the new one was. The new one shows when you search for his Law Firm name in Google, but not for his personal name i.e "NAME HERE ATTORNEY" or "HIS NAME and LOCATION" Interested to hear your thoughts. The only way I can think to fix this is to contact Google directly and see if there is a way to permanently delete the listing from Google maps, but I am not aware that this is possible.

Google My Business - More than 1 business under same roof?
Good morning Mozzers from London, England, I have been having some issues around local SERPs and getting our businesses to rank. The issue I have is we run GYMS, however within our gyms certain locations we run additional businesses like CHILDREN'S NURSERIES or PHYSIOTHERAPY CLINICS etc. Now these are run affectively as different businesses, and you don't need to be a gym member to use these services. However Google only lets you have 1 primary category per business address. And all of our locations are rightly registered as GYMS. So I can't then produce a secondary business listing at the same address.....can I? Has anyone else experienced this problem, or know of a solution? Kindest regards Ben

Google + / Local for Business. How to SEO ?... Done the basic but no real change.
Hi All, We have set up all of our Google local for business pages which are verified and these link to the relevant branch pages on our website. The branch pages also link back to the relevant google local page. We only appear for one category on the google local pages and we have also done a large number of citations (NAP) across all locations and the text used in each of the google pages is keyword rich and we mention the city in there as well to localise it. We have a few google + likes and we have used hootsuite to publish the same content across some of the google local pages which links back to our website blog , we are not appearing in local search whereas our competitors seem to be appear for all their branches. Is there any fundamental tips or things we need to do to def. get up on the rankings.. Or any good articles worth reading ?.. I've had a look but can't seem to see anything relating a google local business bible.. thanks Pete

For companies with multiple locations, does Google mind "Duplicate Content" in local (maps) business descriptions?
I have about 20 locations for my counseling company "Thriveworks" on google. I am getting ready to submit a spreadsheet and take advantage of the new "bulk upload" to manage these locations. Each of my locations has a description that is basically the same in terms of sentiment, but 100% original content (because Google has historically hated duplicate content). 1) Should I copy and paste each location's current unique description into the spreadsheet, or just write one very good description and copy it for all 20 locations?2) Does Google like/dislike "duplicate content" as it applies to business descriptions?3) Is changing a location's description likely to temporarily harm the "ranking" of my business location in search results? Will really appreciate any help...

How can I add another Google Places listing to my existing business?
Hey there, Does anyone know how I can add another Google Places listing to the following account? The company now has two stores so I'd like to get both listed. https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/107389046695957843430/+FinsahomeCoUk/posts I've tried using https://www.google.com/local/manage but that only appears to let you add a minimum of 10 locations?
