Yahoo and Bing Ranking Hits
-
Morning,
Has anyone else in the UK seen a massive ranking shift on Bing and Yahoo over the last week? One of our eccommerce client's main keywords was ranking #3 and #11 on Bing and Yahoo respectively last week, but today they've dropped to #32 and #35.
It seems rather strange as pretty much all of the main keywords have increased on Google. In fact, pretty much all of the Google rankings are the highest they've been since the SEO campaign commenced in October/November!
Cheers,
Lewis

I wouldn't say you've overreacted, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on. But just know that those search engines typically perform together, so it's almost like a drop in performance in only one of them.
Check for any weird crawl issues that may have accidentally been set-up in robots.txt or on the page-level (specifically blocking other bots but allowing Google's?) or any glitches that could be making your pages "look" different to Bing/Yahoo.
However, my guess is it's just testing and things will bounce back shortly. Maybe some strong competitors entered the fray? Check Bing/Yahoo SERPs manually for clues... hope it bounces back for you! And kudos on strong Google organic performance.

Hi,
Cheers for your input, Brady. I guess I may have overreacted a tad! It just seemed a bit weird that the Bing and Yahoo rankings have dropped like stones overnight.

It's not a surprise that both Bing and Yahoo rankings are dropping together, as performance on these engines seem to be more or less the same in my experiences.
If Google ranking and traffic are up however, you may not have anything to worry about. Instead of just focusing on rank, prioritize by search volume and target keywords for your business. If your priority or "money" keywords are still reaching your website - and you're still getting good traffic quantity via Google search - I'd give Bing/Yahoo time to come around.
They test their organic results too, so maybe it's just a short-term test. Another good bit of advice moving forward: never overreact to a rank report or two. Sometimes it's something you've implemented or your competitor, but sometimes it's just normal SERP flux or random results. These inconsistencies will sort themselves out.
Sorry for not having insight on the specific market, but figured I'd chime in.

Unsolved Wild fluctuations in ranking, any thoughts on why or what to do about it?
We have a keyword which is important to us and used to have rock steady rankings for over a decade. Over the past 9 months or so it has been fluctuating all over the place. Jumping up or down 20 places or so overnight. Any thoughts on this behaviour and what we should be doing to stabilise the ranking?Screenshot 2024-05-13 at 09.47.jpg

Time For New Website To Rank?
We've been working on a site for the past couple months and going to be launching in a couple weeks. How long does it take for Google to establish a "stabilized" ranking for the site and various pages? The main homepage will have its targeted keywords and each product page will have its own targeted keywords. We have about 100 total pages for the site. I know rankings may fluctuate initially but trying to get an idea of when the rankings are stabilized before we start working on the ongoing SEO like earning backlinks, changing on-page optimization, etc to be able to track changes in rankings over time.

What penalty might have hit here (screenshot attached)
I've had a spiky organic traffic profile for some time and wondered if anyone could suggest what penalty might have hit me. Something did in July but then when it recovered (not sure how) I ended up with double the traffic. Then it dipped, recovered a but and has slowly declined since. I've had no manual penalties so it must be algorithmic which means I can fix it. The problem is I don't know what the issues is! Any help appreciated! Ae00Lzl.png

Rankings UP, rankings DOWN - why?
Last week, I had 14 keywords go up and less than 5 go down. I was so thrilled! Except this week, I had 10 go up and 14 go down! How can I figure out what is going on? I am up and down 30+ spots with Google. I'd really like to stay up. My site is pretty new, just a few months. I am still fiddling around with settings trying to follow all the advice I read. (robot meta tags, title tag) I didn't change any content in the last week. Does SEOmoz analyze the ranking data?

Distribution of SEOMOZ Ranking Metrics across all Monitored Websites
Hi, I'm looking into building a tool which would incorporate SEOMOZ ranking metrics and I have a few questions with regard to the ranking data which will help me develop it correctly. I have done a few searches, for the information but haven't found an answer to these questions on seomoz - if they exist somewhere then I would be grateful if you could point me in the right direction. 1/. When looking at the values of metrics such as MozRank and DA, is there any information on how this values are distributed amongst the ranked website - EG The mean / median values of DA and MozRank etc of all websites monitored is X & Y . If there were any distribution graphs for these values then even better. 2/. Along the lines of the above - are there any online resources showing similar information for google PR? 3/. What is the calcuation used in the scale of MozRank and DA - ie We have a scale of 1-10 for these values - be we also know the scale in not linear but logrithmic - ie Double the Links of a DA 5 website and you would not end up with a DA 10 website - so what is the calculation which defines the scale. A WBF about google PR by Rand indicated that a value of between 8-9 is used in Google PR - but what about the values used for DA and MozRank etc? Many thanks for your help
