Need suggestion to place longer content on products category page
-
Hi All,
I wanted to place longer content on products category page, Currenty I am showing product listing first and then small description at the end of listing.I don't want to add longer content either bottom or top.
I want to make two tabs at the top of each category pages like Products | Informtion
In Product section (after clicking on it) I want to display all products listing & in Information tab (after clicking on it) 2-3 paragraphs of webpage content but I'm afraid If I will place the content in this way Google won't index content and my purpose of adding webpage content to target long tail keywords won't fulfill.
Please suggest me if you have any better idea & let me know what I am going to do would be good or not in SEO perspective.
Thanks

I had a problem with hidden content on a review plugin I was using (they have since changed it) due to tabs. I can confirm that none of the reviews were indexed that were behind hidden tabs.
So, no I would definitely not hide text now that Google doesn't see it. If you want to test what Google will see and take into account, use the Google Render tool in Webmaster tools.

Okay, I have read a lot of conflicting information about this.
The thread Tom has shared does seem to indicate Google is no longer indexing hidden text but these tests seem to show otherwise: http://www.firstscribe.com/blog/searching-hidden-content-google-indexing/
Also check this page : "As far as I have seen since the discussion died down, Google does index this content. Personally, I think it would be really odd for them to stop indexing it. Also, from the clarification Google provided, there was nothing to suggest otherwise."
Personally I don't think you will run into any problems if you use something like this.

Hi there
First of all - your logic is sound. Trying to add additional, useful content to the product page could help its SEO performance. There are obviously a number of other factors that will determine its success, but the principle logic is good.
Up until very recently, I would have said go for the solution you have proposed above. It was a great way of getting useful information on the page - for both the search engine and the user - without having to interrupt or disturb the user journey.
However, things look to have changed within the last six months. It began in September with this webmaster world thread saying that Google was no longer indexing content in onLoad hidden sections and was later confirmed in November with Google explicitly stating that Content In Tabs & Click To Expand May Not Be Indexed Or Ranked.
Whether that change is being fully enforced yet, I'm not sure - but if it's on Google's radar it may be wise to avoid this kind of onLoad content usage.
So that leaves you with having to present the content on the page straight off the bat. That can be tricky , as you run the risk of overloading the user. But if you can keep the content concise and useful and can design the page accordingly, hopefully you can achieve it.
Hope the above links help.

How much should I pay for one hour of content creation work?
Hi I have recently been looking for some new content creators to work with. And I recently asked a blogger that I know of how much he would charge for some content creations. I told him that I'm looking for some good compelling content that is about 400 to 500 words. And he told me that he would charge $180 an hour. I sorta feel like that's a bit to much, but I don't want to jump to conclusions without any advice from you all. I'm very well versed in my SEO and do most of the work for my site. But I think a fresh touch would really be helpful.

At what point to stop comments on a blog? Do too many comments hurt the page?
I have a page that's ranking pretty well, and driving sales. That page is starting to get 10+ comments per day and is starting to get quite long. I was wondering if there is a point where I should disable the comments? My gut tells me that people interacting with the page, and Google seeing responses with the users SHOULD be a good thing not bad. But, then I think that a majority of the content of the page is no longer the article, but the comments. All the comments are good, non spammy and directly related to the topic. People just asking questions, etc. Good engagement, I should be happy right?

I need to hire writers.
Hi, I have a lot of websites that I am currently developing. Does anybody know of a website to find writers that are for hire. For example, I have websites that are focused on home related content, websites focused on the printing industry, websites focused on bugs...etc. Is there a website that I can post or hire writers that have various focuses and expertise? Any information or advice with this will be appreciated. Sincerely, Garret

Where to add content
Hello, In looking at GA for a client, his top 100 landing pages are all category pages with only a slight amount of articles and product pages. We haven't added content to the product pages, we just rewrote descriptions for unique content. They are about 100-200 words per product. Does that mean we should focus on adding content to category pages first? We're thinking of totaling 500 words or so (though less sometimes) of quality content to category pages. Your recommendations?

Questions about reorganizing a website's content structure
I'm working with a publisher who is considering reorganizing the content on their site, which up to now has been presented more or less as a portal site for a variety of segments in a particular business industry. One scenario that is on the table is to remove some content sections altogether and republish them under their own unique domains. It's important to note that this reorganization would be part of a new brand strategy. So my first question is whether this is one of those avoid-at-all-costs scenarios? My second question is if we decide to procede, what kind of time could it take for these new domains to generate the same level of search traffic they are currently pulling in on the portal site? Thanks!

Crawl error vs RSS feed content
Hi, I have a BuddyPress Multisite with sites dedicated to specific RSS feeds. I did this to pull in the content for my users. But they generate a 1000s of SEMOZ errors/warnings for dup content, dup titles, missing metatags. etc. So does keeping the content help my site SEO less than the errors? The content is not under my control so I have no way to relate it to my keywords. Any opinions? I can recreate these RSS sites, so I will probably delete them to see what happens. Larry
