Lost trafic with Backlink
-
Hi Moz experts,
We lost drastic trafic from two links of our partner. Do you know what could be the reason ? It is not the main source of trafic, we talk about 2% but our partner is really interest to see the add-value of this link to our website. Thank you in advance for your consta
1. Do you know if the partner need to update his sitemap when you send it the links ?
2. Do you know if the lastest update ( Between octobre 2014 to august 2014) of Google algirthm has an impact ?
3. We update our new website on november. However, we lost trafic in october and in august? So, do you think I need to take action on my side ?
What your recommandation Moz experts ?

Hi John
I would take a look at your backlink profile in Majestic and take note of your metrics there. I would also take a look at this resource to see if you need to remove links at all or if you have any issues after you research your backlinks. I would also check and see if any drops line up with algorithms or SERP updates.
I would also check your Google Webmaster Tools to see if there were any issues that have popped up, like a potential manual action.
Also, ask yourself about your partners backlinks:
- Does this link help my website?
- Is this link relevant to my website?
- Would I trust this site (that's linking to me) if I landed on it?
- Is the website or content in which I am being linked from topically relevant to my website?
- If you check metrics - does anything about the metrics (domain authority, page authority,Majestic, SEMRush traffic/ranking data, etc) make me feel uneasy?
If the link isn't relevant or doesn't help your site, it's better that you lose it. But if for some reason the site isn't sending traffic the way it used to, and it is a relevant partner, I would put their backlink profile through the ringer in Majestic and also check their metrics via SEMRush.
Hope this helps! Best of luck!

What's the average rank update time after site and/or backlink changes?
What's currently the typical time, ON AVERAGE, it takes to see ranking changes when significant improvements are made to significant ranking signals on a long-established (as opposed to brand new) website? Does the rank update associated with on-page optimization happen sooner than addition of quality backlinks?

Huge amount of backlinks detected - what to do ?
The websites that use Yotpo review solution can display product galleries like this //imgur.com/4dHUh7O - orginal source page: http://skibox.fr/fr/veste-de-pluie-dynastar-long-shell.html Every product in the gallery generates a link to https://yotpo.com such as https://yotpo.com/go/eAaQNjJh This generate a huge amount of links detected in Google Search Console (GWMT) of yotpo.com And every of those links redirects 301 to a page of the website using Yotpo review solution. Example: https://yotpo.com/go/eAaQNjJh redirects to http://skibox.fr/fr/batons-de-ski-leki-worldcup-lite-slalom-4683.html?#.VymNdr5_TwY It seems to be similar to shorten URL links (that are legitimate), but I am not about the influence of this, what do you think ? Is this really influencing (in bad) the (potential) rankings of https://www.yotpo.com subdomain pages? What would you recommend to do?

Couple questions: backlink bartering and getting backlinks in less developed markets.
How do you guys go about getting sustainable links from high authority sites? In some markets, like say SEO, it can be as easy as writing great content and "people will share it" because there are a ton of SEO websites on the internet and all of them are talking about SEO and want to share with you great SEO content. But as you guys know there are markets that aren't as well developed online - where do you look for backlinks for these markets? I'm working on a project and I'm trying to put together a good backlinking strategy. Part of it will be chasing backlinks from University websites (relevant to my market). What I'm wondering here is if its OK by Google to barter for links. Say you have an online store and you give the University a "student's discount" in exchange for a link (I don't know if this would be appealing enough but is it fair game as far as Google is concerned)?

Same-server, Same-Market, Micro-Sites backlinks.. good or bad?
Hi there, We are a real estate listings portal and we also create micro sites for real estate agents. These micro-sites are hosted on our same server, similar in structure, different in design... different in content. They all link to us but not within each other. They all link to us because they have to access our login system in order to manage their property listings on their own micro sites (which updates on our own website too). (Also as marketing for others to see that we have built their sites with our engine). Would all these backlinks be considered to be coming from the same c-block? Thus, being sub-optimal for our SEO efforts? Should we worry about grouping them and giving them separate IP addresses? Should we add nofollow tags to these links or are there any other things you would worry about? Many thanks.

Lost 86% of traffic after moving old static site to WordPress
I hired a company to convert an old static website www.rawfoodexplained.com with about 1200 pages of content to WordPress. Four days after launch it lost almost 90% of traffic. It was getting over 60,000 uniques while nobody touched the site for several years. It’s been 21 days since the WordPress launch. I read a lot of stuff prior to moving it (including Moz's case study) and I was expecting to lose in short term 30% of traffic max… I don’t understand what is wrong. The internal link structure is the same, every url is 301 to the same url only without[dot]html (ie www.rawfoodexplained.com/science.html is 301′s to http://www.rawfoodexplained.com/science/ ), it’s added to Google Webmaster tool and Google indexed the new pages… Any ideas what could be possible wrong? I do understand the website is not optimized (meta descriptions etc, but it wasn't before either) .... Do you think putting back the old site would recover the traffic? I would appreciate any thoughts Thank you

Google lost 9,000 inbound links
I logged into GWT today. It typically reports that our page has about 9,000 inbound links, but today it said we have 225. There are no warnings or messages about any manual action. In fact, this site has never received any penalties or warnings. Since November I have used the disavow tool to remove porn links that a competitor has pointed at my site. Typically I go through Google's "new" links list and add any of the obviously bad links to the disavow list. That effort seemed to be going ok, and my site does not seem to be penalized for this negative seo. The 225 links that remain are scattered back through 2010. This site has been online since 2005 and has accumulated lots of links over the years. Some great, some not so great. Queries are down about 1500 per day since last week, about a 15% drop. There is a slight drop in some keyword rankings, but nothing huge, and most of the SERPS I track do not seem to be impacted. The PR is steady at 4, where it's been for years. So... what do you think I should do? Just watch it for a week and see if they come back? Try removing the "disavow" list just in case it some how messed things up (looks ok on the surface to me). Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Buying up old domains, high PR, to absorb backlinks and authority?
I'm thinking about purchasing http://employeesurveyresource.com/ .. $300 It's showing a PR5, but I'm not seeing many backlinks in Y! site explorer or open site explorer. Has anyone been successful in absorbing the PR from older domains / domains without current content? I know sometimes people can fake PR by 301'ing from a high PR site, to sell the domain and then cancel the 301, leaving you with a dud. Can someone shed some light on this please? Thank you!
