Google Mobile Friendly designation in Search results
-
We have recently deployed a mobile (http://m.pssl.com) version of our desktop website (http://www.pssl.com). We've followed the guidelines in their documentation (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6101188) & (http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2015/04/rolling-out-mobile-friendly-update.html), added the appropriate rel=alternate/rel=canonical tags updated site maps and robots.txt files, etc.
A mobile search for our company shows the "mobile-friendly" flag in the search results for our home page, but for some reason other pages such as category and brand are not showing showing as "mobile-friendly".
I can submit the pages using the mobile-friendly tester (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/) and all of the pages I test come back as mobile friendly.
Does anyone have any experience or advice they'd be willing to share that might help us resolve this issue?

Hi,
It's quite possible that it's just a matter of time before the label shows like Patricks mentions. However, if you check your site with PageSpeed Insights there seems to be something strange with the way you implement the redirect: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pssl.com which could be the reason why the label does not appear:
Your page has 2 redirects. Redirects introduce additional delays before the page can be loaded.Avoid landing page redirects for the following chain of redirected URLs.
If you want to check this "manually" you can check the headers yourself using web-sniffer.net with a mobile user agent. I would check with your technical team how to avoid this redirect chain.Apart from that, if you check the insights for speed, your scores for both mobile & desktop are not really great. Testing on webpage test http://www.webpagetest.org/result/150429_62_19PT/1/details/ - loaded in 3.7 sec is not extremely bad but not great either. You could probably reduce the load time by combining your 19 js & 6 css files. For mobile 400K images & 270K javascript (!) is probably a bit too much to load over a mobile connection(the test also shows the double redirect).rgds,Dirk

Hi there
I wouldn't worry too much about this. This is going to be a roll out update, so it's going to take time for it to fully reflect in the SERPs.
I would imagine that Google has yet to crawl your entire site, which means that they haven't crawled the changes you implemented. If the test tool says you are fine, I would take comfort in that. That being said, watch your mobile traffic in GA and your mobile rankings in Google Webmaster Tools. If something is wrong, those two will tell you rather quickly.
Hope this helps!

Strange site link on Google for a Facebook result
A Facebook page targetted to US Hispanics (with content in Spanish and English) is showing me a hindi sitelink underneath the main Facebook link when I google (in the US, English) for the page [ page name facebook]. We don't have any content in hindi, or targetted to that audience. If I click on the sitelink while logged out of facebook, I can see it takes me to a facebook subdomain of hi-in. When I'm logged in it just redirects me to the same page. Any idea why this could be happening?

We possibly have internal links on our site that point to 404 pages as well as links that point to old pages. I need to tidy this up as efficiently as possible and would like some advice on the best way to go about this.

Mobile friendly - Sub domain after responsive?
My client has a mobile website (m.website.com) and is working on a responsive website. The site is already labeled "Mobile friendly" on the SERP and I was wondering if, when the site will be responsive, it would be worth it to redirect the subdomain or it would be safer to keep the subdomain and still redirect mobile users to it since we're already Mobile friendly (we would keep the rel alternate on the main domain and the rel canonical on mobile).

Sitelinks in non-brand based organic search results
Hi all, I have a question for everyone. Sitelinks have been around for a while now & I've always seen them when the search is for a brand's name. However, today, when looking at the rankings for one of the campaigns we manage, we noticed there were sitelinks in the number #1 & #2 positions in Google (Australia) for the search term "Dance Costumes". Whilst both the companies have Dance Costumes in their title, so do all the other results & so I don't see why it warrants the sites to be relevant via their brand name.

Note: The results are organic results, not paid results (where you can add sitelinks). Firstly, has anyone seen this before (screenshot attached)?
And secondly, is there markup/schema that allows you to do this (none that I know of)? danceCostumes-sitelinks.png0 -

Should Site Search results be blocked from search engines?
What are the advantages & disadvantages of letting Google crawl site search results? We currently have them blocked via robots.txt, so I'm not sure if we're missing out on potential traffic. Thanks!

Mobile subdomain recommendations - Mobile SEO
My company is moving forward with creating a subdomain for mobile visitors (m.examplesite.com). I know there is much discussion on subdomain vs one url with different style sheets. That ship has sailed and the subdomain is the way we are proceeding. Google appears to recommend leaving both sites open to the normal Googlebot and redirecting the mobile bot to the mobile site (as we will be redirecting mobile visitors to the mobile subdomain). Has anyone had experience with this. Any duplicate content issues? Does anyone feel strongly that the normal Googlebot should be blocked from the mobile site (this seems to go against Google's recommendations)? It seems like another option is to use the canonical tag and let the search engines know the traditional site is the canonical page/version. Any recommendations? Any other issues that should be considered?
