How do you keep track of the keywords you're working on ?
-
Hello Moz community,
Let's suppose you're working on a +600 pages website and you are working on lots of keywords.
I'd like to know if you had a database / excel / tool to know which keywords you've been targetting so that you don't create twice the same content ?
Thanks for your answers

If you could also send it to me that would be great! Thanks!

Hey will,
Thank you very much for your answer. I'd definitively be interested in seeing your google docs spreadsheet example.

Proper use of location in keywords
¿If I want to track keywords in a specific location, do I need to write the keyword with the location or only the keyword? For example: If I want to track the results of the keyword "hair salon" in a specific city, should I write "Hair salon in (city chosen) or only hair salon.

Disparity between new and old keyword planner
Hi everyone! While performing keyword research using both Google's old and new Keyword Planner, I've noticed a disparity between the two tools. In many cases, the old tool gives a much larger monthly search volume than the new tool. There are a few cases where both tools provide the same monthly search volume for a term, but those are few and far between. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks in advance!

Targeted keywords for landing pages but keyword has a lot of synonyms, how is the best way to approach this?
I'm trying to target one page for one broad 2 word keyword, however, because our niche revolves around this keyword and it's synonyms, the keyword is used on every other page, thus creating the issue of non-targeted pages taking the rank instead of targeted page. I've thought of using synonyms on each page, so that no one page uses the same keyword, but felt this could be seen as spammy or could just hurt overall relevancy towards the main keyword, thus a loss of rank. I understand page authority also plays a part, but also seems that every page other than the page I want get's targeted.

Keyword reserch 'blends' to much. How to decide on focused landing pages?
Hi guys. I work for stationery company. We make personalised diary products, but recently we've expanded into binding services/ printing services. I've been doing some keyword research around these new services we offer, but i'm struggling to 'separate them out' into focused areas that we can then apply to our landing pages. In the images i've attached you can see how the keywords naturally fall into groups (and were generally in different groups in Ad words) but they also overlap somewhat. E.g) There's a 'Book binding service' group as well as 'print and binding' group...they're different but overlap. Another example would be 'Book binding' groups and 'leather book binding' group....so on and so forth. So... do you think there should there be a landing page for each group (and therefore having some keyword cannibalisation), or should I try be more broad trying to capture the searches within 1 or 2 landing pages? Make sense? Sorry I know it's kinda open ended question... but i'm struggling with this one 😞 Hope you can help. Isaac. wO974JK wO974JK.png 9oZjZbz.png JJ1MlRT.png 4Zx5iko.png

Specific Keyword Ranking Advice
Hi Folks, We're trying to optimize the page (http://alabu.com/goat-milk-soap/) for the keyword "goat milk soap". Our page used to rank #1 before Panda (actually our home page did, not the page I'm trying to optimize on now). Now we're around rank 25. I've followed all the guidelines for on-page optimization I know, and I've done everything I can think of. We're currently executing a link building campaign but that obviously takes time. Does anyone have any advice? Is there anything else I can do to improve our ranking? Thanks, Hal

Keywords in SEO Moz versus Keywords on pages
II'm a little confused by how the SEO Moz keywords relate to our page keywords. Should all the keywords we put in SEO Moz be in our page keywords? Can our SEO Moz keywords span the kepywords of severla pages or do we need ot tighten up and only use 5 for example keywords in SEO Moz and on our pages? Thanks!

Google SERPS for similar Keywords?
I have website which is being listed for a keyword which is not in the site. It seems that google is using a Thesaurus to find words with similar meaning. Is this right? How could this be used for SEO purposes?
