Schema.org problems (still)
-
Hey Mozzers,
I've been working at this for a while now, and I can't figure out why the rich snippet data is not getting pulled for our reviews and product rating. I've included a sample URL where we have reduced the schema.org markup:
http://www.tripcentral.ca/vacations-packages_00_03_JN_gran-bahia-principe-coba.html
| } |
Any thoughts? I was told not to list multiple reviews, so I took them out. But it's still not being picked up in the SERPs, and we would really like the star rating data to appear.
Any useful advice would be appreciated!

I haven't had any trouble using JSON-LD for organizations and people. I have only used in-line product schema so far for products. You could try adding the in-line markup if you haven't already, and leaving the JSON-LD script up.

I've corrected the brackets with our dev, but it's still not pulling up.
Here is the change we made to the code:
| "@context": "http://schema.org", |
| | "@type": "BreadcrumbList", |
| | "itemListElement": [ |
| | { |
| | "@type": "ListItem", |
| | "position": 1, |
| | "item": { |
| | "@id": "http://www.tripcentral.ca", |
| | "name": "Home" |
| | } |
| | },{ |
| | "@type": "ListItem", |
| | "position": 2, |
| | "item": { |
| | "@id": "http://www.tripcentral.ca/vacations-packages_index.html", |
| | "name": "Vacations Packages" |
| | } |
| | },{ |
| | "@type": "ListItem", |
| | "position": 3, |
| | "item": { |
| | "@id": "http://www.tripcentral.ca/vacations-packages_mexico.html", |
| | "name": "Mexico" |
| | } |
| | },{ |
| | "@type": "ListItem", |
| | "position": 4, |
| | "item": { |
| | "@id": "http://www.tripcentral.ca/vacations-packages_mayan-riviera-maya.html", |
| | "name": "Mayan Riviera-Maya" |
| | } |
| | }] |
| | } |I went through with the dev team and its passing the testing tool.
Is there anything else I could be missing?

Are you including the itemprop="aggregateRating" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/AggregateRating" somewhere else?
Also, I think with products you need to wrap it all in a div with itemtype="http://schema.org/Product"

Could it be because we are using JSON that the rich snippet data is not being pulled?
-
Right now I am just focusing on getting the product rating up. Here is the code I am going to try:
Dreams Tulum
A beautiful resort, dream weddings and amazing staff.
Hotel rating:
5 out of
5 with
8 ratingsI am trying to go to the basics here- I think this looks correct?

Have a look at: https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/
Your page only has "hotel, product, and breadcrumb list", this should help you: https://developers.google.com/structured-data/rich-snippets/reviews

Still Need to Write Title & Description Tag?
My SEO has advised me that Google has stopped using title and description tags for search results and as such, it is no longer necessary to write specific title and description tags. I see that Yoast seems to pull text to create these tags and sometimes it looks like it reflects the best elements of the content, sometimes it does not. Should I be asking our SEO team to write dedicated title and description tags or is it best practices to leave it to the Yoast plugin? My SEO is of the opinion that writing these tags is not a productive use of time as Google will serve results based on the user inquiry rather than the content on his tags. It sounds logical but it would be reassuring to receive further confirmation of this. Thoughts?"

Can Google Crawl & Index my Schema in CSR JavaScript
We currently only have one option for implementing our Schema. It is populated in the JSON which is rendered by JavaScript on the CLIENT side. I've heard tons of mixed reviews about if this will work or not. So, does anyone know for sure if this will or will not work. Also, how can I build a test to see if it does or does not work?

Schema question
Hi all, We have two Trustpilot schemas (Local Business) on our web pages ( One on desktop / one on mobile) but we are finding that it is not updating the number of reviews in the search results. When using the tool : https://developers.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/ , the test results are coming back ok. I have two ideas as to why it may not be working; 1) The duplication of the schema code is causing issues 2) We had to change the html code for all of our 50+ backend pages using a search&replace WordPress plugin to save a vast amount of time. Maybe this is plugin related? The fact that the google testing tool gives back positive results adds to the confusion. I test both of the theorised issues to see if it provides a fixes. Can anyone shed some further light on this issue? Is there something obvious I am missing? All responses are greatly appreciated! Thanks, Tom p.s. Why is page still indexing?
Hi all, I have a few pages that - despite having a robots meta tag and no follow, no index, they are showing up in Google SERPs. In troubleshooting this with my team, it was brought up that another page could be linking to these pages and causing this. Is that plausible? How could I confirm that? Thanks,

Still Going Down In Search
After signing up to SEOmoz as a pro user and sorting out all the things that the search flagged up with our website (htyp://www.whosjack.org) we jumped very slightly in search only to continue going down again. We are a news based site, we have no dup content, we have good writers and good orangic links etc I am currently very close to having to call it a day. Can anyone suggest anything at all from looking at the site or suggest a good SEO firm that I could talk to who might be able to work out the issue as I am totally at a loss as to what do do now. Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Robots.txt 404 problem
I've just set up a wordpress site with a hosting company who only allow you to install your wordpress site in http://www.myurl.com/folder as opposed to the root folder. I now have the problem that the robots.txt file only works in http://www.myurl./com/folder/robots.txt Of course google is looking for it at http://www.myurl.com/robots.txt and returning a 404 error. How can I get around this? Is there a way to tell google in webmaster tools to use a different path to locate it? I'm stumped?

Why do old URL format are still being crawled by Rogerbot?
Hi, In the early days of my blog, I used permalinks with the following format: http://www.mysitesamp.com/2009/02/04/heidi-cortez-photo-shoot/ I then decided to change this format using .htaccess to this format: http://www.mysitesamp.com//heidi-cortez-photo-shoot/ My question is, why do rogerbot still crawls my old URL format since these urls' no longer exists in my website or blog.
