Re Opening Question......Strange Visitors To Website
-
Ooppps,
Looks like I closed this question a little early. So, I will give it another run.
I paid to have some link work done...... (now I know better) Anyway, now there are several links and quite alot of traffic going to the site....... Unfortunately now my bounce is going up..... because online games really has nothing to do with Concrete Pumps and Pump Parts.... go figure.
What is a logical next step to correct the problem.
Thank You!

I honestly don't think you are going to be able to do anything about the links created, unless you manually contact the owner of the sites involved.
Out of interest, did you LinkBuilder provide you with a spreadsheet of work completed? If so they may have included URLs, IDs and Passwords so that you can be back in and remove the bad links....which I assume are profile links.
Just keep building good links, and these bad ones will fall into insignificance.

Well you have already worked out the first step - realising your link generators weren't that good!
There is going to be nothing you can do to stop people bouncing off those links, as you have already said they are completely off-topic for your site. The best thing you can do is start building some on-topic, better quality links to your site and ignoring those other visitors.
Depending on how many links these other people generated there may or may not be a problem with Google et al. They might have put you at risk of tripping a filter if there are a lot of off-topic links, especially if they look "bought for".

Partial Website Translation - Strategy Debate
Hi We have a travel site with over 3000 pages in English. Of these around 200 relate to products and the rest are content articles, most of which with very low traffic. Certain products and pages appeal directly to users in different languages (around 20-30 out of 200 for each language). We are debating how to go about translating these pages... If we did "oursite.com/es/product", "oursite.com/de/product", etc then users entering the site on these translated pages from Google would be limited to seeing a very cut down site, bearing in mind most speak English and would also be able to interact with our English language content we are probably losing out. Also, if we detected user language on entry, we would show effectively hide most of our product and content from users. Any suggestions or ideas about how to go about this without losing engagement/conversions/creating a mess?

Should Mobile Header Design Use Big White Area for Large Male Thumbs when 65% + of Visitors are Male?
About 65% of our visitors are male. Consultant "A" produced design "A" (see attached). This design incorporates large white areas so there there is sufficient space for male visitors with larger fingers. Consultant "A" also was of the opinion that the menu "hamburger" bar should have the word "menu" under it and that displaying it would increase conversions. Consultant "B" is of the opinion that displaying as much content above the fold is key to maximizing conversions. They believe that we don't have to use so much space between elements and that the word "Menu" is not necessary to display beneath the hamburger. I have enclosed design "B" from consultant "B". Personally I prefer the 2nd design, however I understand that conversion is down to a science and there are certain accepted protocols and standards that serve to increase conversions. Does anyone have opinion as to which of the 2 attached designs would work best for conversions? Thanks,

Are website optimization and conversion rate optimization roughly the same thing?
This is mostly a semantics question, but I also want to check that I have a basic understanding of the two concepts. Are the two terms more or less interchangeable or are there any crucial differences? I always thought of website optimization as the complementary partner to SEO. While the ultimate goal of SEO is getting people TO your website, website optimization is focused on refining your website so that those people STAY on your website. When I think of conversion rate optimization, I'd imagine that's pretty much the same goal. Refining a website so that more people stay and ultimately convert (buy something, subscribe to a newsletter, etc). Is my understanding of one (or both) of them flawed, or is it six of one, half a dozen of the other? Thanks!

Question regarding eCommerce sites, relative URLs and secuirty certificates
We recently installed a new SSL certificate on an ecommerce site. Our IT Director is insisting that all pages on the site must be coded in such a way so that the address bar maintains a green background when a visitor is navigating the site after navigating to a secure page or logging in. I have worked on many ecommerce sites and never has this been an issue. Amazon does not use the green bar....but they are Amazon. In order for this to work, he is insisting that all internal URLs be coded as relative instead of absolute. How bad is this for SEO or does it really not matter that much? How crucial is it for trust and security? Opinions welcome!

Complete website redesign - what to look for
We are having our website redesigned by an SEO company to increase CTR and for a better user experience and I was wondering what to look for and what key questions to ask. At the moment we rank very well for a few strong keywords and I m afraid that by rewriting the content and changing the website layout we might put at risk some of the rankings even for a brief period of time. This company seems to be very good so I need to know what to ask them to make sure everything goes according to plan. Your thoughts are appreciated.
