Multiple Similar Product Variations - Page layout, Title and SEO best practice??
-
Im doing some research into SEO for our new web design.
I sell designer eyewear prescription and sunglasses.
Lets take a Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglass it comes in 30 colours and 3 sizes for each model.
Up till now i was of the impression that for best practice SEO i would need to have each individual variation as its own page, this would also help with things like google shopping too.
So for example heres 1 colour product in 3 sizes of 30 colour variations for this particular model.
Ray Ban Wayfarer RB2140
Colour: Black 901
Sizes: 47, 50, 54Currently my urls looks like this with a new page and the size changing on the end for each variation.
Ray Ban Wayfarer RB2140 - Black 901 - 47
URL: www.mywebsite.com/ray-ban-wayfarer-rb2140.html?colour=Black+901&size=47
Ray Ban Wayfarer RB2140 - Black 901 - 50
URL: www.mywebsite.com/ray-ban-wayfarer-rb2140.html?colour=Black+901&size=50
Ray Ban Wayfarer RB2140 - Black 901 - 54
URL: www.mywebsite.com/ray-ban-wayfarer-rb2140.html?colour=Black+901&size=54
This is very time consuming and I'm not sure if its adding any benefit to my SEO in fact scared its actually
a) slowing my site down (content heavy)
b) looking like duplicate contentI am thinking about moving towards a page more like this were it would be just be a model with variations. (not effecting the title/getting a new page per variation)
http://demoleotheme.com/vigoss/index.php/atomic-endurance-running-tee-crew-neck.html
I am not sure of the pros and cons of doing it this way over the way I'm doing it currently all i know is my site is ranking horribly.
Lastly I'm currently running a magento V1.9 store which is renowned for duplicate content slow site speeds etc so have been told moving to woo commerce would benefit me for both site performance and seo but I'm skeptical as currently with this structure of a each SKU being a new page il be up to 8000+ products and multiple product variations that it can handle my needs, anyone with any experience on woo commerce platform? (this might be a operate question apologise)
This is absolutely frying my brain so any advice appreciated. Im prepared to put every dying second into just need some solid advice in which direction to go!

Hi Craig,
Thanx for the compliment. I talked to a develepor of Woothemes/ Woocomerce last week on a fair and he pointed me to: https://www.woothemes.com/storefront/ it promises to be the most flexible them up till now and your wish should definitely be possible with that. You can also contact them with your wishes and I am sure they can help you further. Best of luck with the Sunglasses :).

Hi Tymen,
Thanks for the reply, looks like another vote for Woocommerce. I took at look at your site, very nice and easy to use.
My only problem with what i am doing is that id need it laid out like this.
Ray Ban Sunglasses (Brand Page) > Multiple different models only displayed - no variations
Example - Ray Ban RB2140 > Ray Ban RB2132 > Ray Ban RB3025
User clicks model takes you to:
Ray Ban RB2140 (Product Page With Variations)
Example - Ray Ban RB2140 (Product Page With Variations both colour, size, price & Prescritpion)
I have added a work flow diagram to help explain. But basically i need it to work like the image thats why im afraid Woocommerce cant handle my kind of functionality neatly.

Hi Craig,
I also have products with variations and have them on one product page and than you can select the product variations such as colour and size.
I work with Woocommerce and that works fine for me. I chose this for better SEO options and fbecause Magento 2.0 looks a lot like it but is slower and far more expensive to maintain. The different SKU's are seen as different products but or on one product page. So I have 500+ product pages which result in over 3000 different SKU's.
My site is https://eppinga.nl so take a look around. If you have more questions don't hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Tymen

Multiple Sites for an Attorney Practicing Different Areas of Law
Hello, I'm trying to make sure I give a potential client the correct advice. This person is an attorney whose current site ranks well. The site deals solely with his traffic ticket defense practice. He's considering building a new site to highlight his personal injury practice but is unsure whether to build an altogether new site or redesign his current site in such a way that it includes his personal injury practice along side his traffic ticket defense practice. Obviously he doesn't want to lose his current rankings, but my concern is that he'll actually dilute his rankings somewhat with the multiple sites. Both practices have pretty different sets of keywords they would need to rank for, with pretty different difficulty levels. Any advice? Thanks.

Body of text on category pages
Hello everyone, wonder if I can pick your brains about our company's website. We are a tea company - Canton Tea Co. We have been advised that it is really important to get more text onto the category pages on our website, as otherwise the page just consists of a list of products, and therefore provides Google with a ton of headers, tiny descriptions, and not enough text to allow the page to being easily indexed, therefore hurting our Google ranking for key search terms like 'Green Tea' which should lead to the Green Tea category page. So we decided to add some text to the category page. The only place for this text to go was laid over the category header image. However, it looks pretty awful and unsophisticated having this text on top of the image - please see an example, our Green Tea category page, via this link: http://www.cantonteaco.com/loose-leaf-tea-1/type/green-tea.html So I have three questions: How significant is the text on a category page such as this to that page's Google ranking? If we moved the text to an area that was hidden until clicked on, for example the 'Filter by' section that opens up when you click on it (see via URL above), would that negate the SEO benefit? Do you have any other ideas or opinions on how to resolve this? Thank you! Louise, Canton Tea Co.

Is there a Joomla! Component For A Blog Page That Is Recommended?
A business partner currently has a page on a Joomla! website that is passing for the blog page. I am not a Joomla! guy so I dont' know much about it. I do know that I don't like a lot of things and prefer Drupal however making a change to Drupal on that site is not an option. We need to upgrade the blog page so that it is more like a blog and I know there has to be an SEO friendly component for a Joomla! blog page. Any ideas?

SEO For Lead Generation
From an SEO point of view, is it okay to have a sites focus to be Lead Generation? We will do a small amount of blogging and we'll also have longer form sales pages on the site... but the main focus would be lead generation pages that we'd target for the SERPs. TO ME... this seems fairly spammy. If we had 50-60 landing pages with only 100-300 words of copy on them. If this is "okay" then how much should we altar up these landing pages in terms of content? None of them will be direct copies... but I just want to make sure that we stay above a ratio that would be good for SEO. Then lastly... How many main terms can we expect to target with a landing page? Should we focus each landing page to a keyword, or can we target a few and still rank effectively?

What site would be best to push
http://www.buypropertyanywhere.com/bulgaria/smolyan/pamporovo/P-14659.php this Is where the ad is first created it is the fresh content. It is then copied word for word to the following http://www.housesalesbulgaria.com/bulgaria/smolyan/pamporovo/P-14659.php

http://www.worldwideproperty.in/property-details.php?lang=14&pId=14659 Would it be best to push buypropertyanywhere as the main site and left the others drop or to develop buypropertyanywhere with each country as a mini site within it and use the existing urls for example www.housesalesbulgaria.com and 301s to direct back to the mini site ie www.buypropertyanywhere.com/bulgaria. 3 Products & 50 Options each, How does Google handle product variant or options?
We are selling furnace filter and we might move our existing store host by BigCommerce to Americommerce or Corecommerce. Before moving the store, I have a questions about our online store structure. We are selling 3 different furnace filters, GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE Series. Each furnace filter come in about 50 different sizes, for a total of about 150 different products. The way our store is setup now, it is 150 different product, 150 different URL, 150 different page name... The way it is setup now, might look like duplicate content. All the product page are the same, all the pictures are the same, the only thing that change, is the furnace filter size in the product description. Look at those pages for example: http://www.furnacefilterscanada.com/20x20x4-Furnace-Filters/ http://www.furnacefilterscanada.com/categories/2-Inches-Thick-Filters/10x20x2-inches/ http://www.furnacefilterscanada.com/categories/2-Inches-Thick-Filters/16x25x2-inches/ Would it be better to only have 3 products and 50 variables or size options? What would be the best structure in a SEO point of view? One thing we have to keep in mind, when searching for a furnace filter, shooper will use keywords like: 16x25x4 furnace filter filter 20x20x1 air furnace filter 10x20x1 furnace filter 24x24x4 canada furnace filter Most of the Google search will included the filter size_._ How does Google handle product variant or options_?_ If I have 3 products, I will have only 3 URL and 3 different page name. I know for the shoppers, 3 products with sizes options might provide a better experience, but what about Google ranking the products? What is opinion the best online store structure in our case? Thank you for your help, preciouse time and support. BigBlaze www.furnacefilterscanada.com/

Site Activity, SEO, and behind login
I have a site that provides online education and as such, most of the user activity happens behind a login. This has me thinking about potential SEO impacts with a few questions that maybe someone could lend some light on: How important is activity (above just search activity) to the search engines Would it help to enter these pages, even though they're behind a login, into GA as we have with the front-end of the site Does a subdomain make a difference (right now we implement the course as a subdomain of the main site Lastly, as I was looking at compete.com, I am wondering how they get these use statistics?
