Please tell me why we can't outrank a competitor with such poor metrics
-
Hi ! New here
I'm trying to help a customer rank in the 1st page on a low-mid competition term in a specific city. I did a comparison of both URL in MOZ "Compare link Metrics" & we beat them on 85% of the metrics. They are on the 1st page, often top-3, the closest position we can get is about 13-15.
The only higher metric they have is Domain MozRank & MozTrust + equity passing link (??)
We are running WordPress with Genesis, they are running a custom site. See attached printscreen of the report.
Help !

Hi John,
What you'll need to do here is a fully audit of the business in question and of its competitors. There are several hundred factors that can contribute to why a business ranks where it is ranking. Here are some resources that may really help:

http://searchengineland.com/rank-high-organically-not-locally-case-study-240692
Hope these help!

Here are the urls -> (see new printscreen)
The keyword we want to rank for : entrepreneur système intérieur (in montreal)
There will be a redesign soon, but for now we want to drive organic traffic, I can't figure out why with such good metrics we are being outranked. We just started working on the website so there are still things to work on obviously... and the previous "seo specialist" added a couple bold sentence here & there, created a couple page with 12 words urls (with about 50-100 words inside each page, duplicated content from other page) & was hoping the site would rank top 3 (believe it or not).
Any advice appreciated !

Hi there John
Without seeing your website or the competitor website, it's hard for the community to help. If you could send the links to the both websites this would give us the opportunity to use our tools to give more insights and ideas as to why you have this situation.
Let me know if you have any other questions or comments!

Anything I can throw money at to get a quick boost?
I run SEO for a multi-location business. Most of our locations are great and others are still ramping. SEO is a long process but we have higher expectations for these stores. While all the normal stuff get going to boost our rankings, is there anything quick I can just throw some money to get a jump start?

We're merging 2 separate websites into 1 but need to ideally rank service pages for both locations
I have a dilemma, we're merging 2 websites, one an Australian branch and one a UK one. We've decided to have a UK page and a AUS page so agency.site/uk/ agency.site/aus/ but what is the best tactic for the service pages? ideally, we'd like a web-design service page to rank in Australia and the UK but not sure if this is actually possible, or whether to duplicate the pages and localise them i.e. /web-design-leeds/ and /web-design-melbourne/ What's everyone's thoughts on this? localised landing pages with some duplicate content or one master page with both locations mentioned? Thanks!

Hi all, I am currently doing keywords research and matching it to our sales data. With an input of resources, do you know if there is a good way to create a growth forecast as a result of SEO investment? How do I work out a strategy and align it to a compelling financial forecast? Your experience on this will be super helpful! Many thanks, Eric

Competitors at the same physical address
Hi, I have two particular clients who I built websites for and they work in the same industry as one another. To add to this, they both have the same geographical location. So, for example when you search Google for 'fencing contractors in [county]' they both appear underneath each other next to the map and have the same address. The problem is that client A doesn't rank as well as client B and client B seems to get outranked by its Yell listing. Both websites are similar in size and markup structure. The content although based on the same topic is written differently and isn't exactly sparse. Client A launched their website probably about 6 months before client B. I have a hunch that Google may be penalising client B, thinking that it is in fact the same business as client A due to their physical location or is somehow trying to copy client A. Does this hunch have much ground in the SEO world and if it is possible, what are my options to help remedy the situation? Unfortunately I've never had the situation where two competitors of each other are literally in adjacent offices! Ideas anyone?

I'm starting an internet marketing company along with a newspaper company
I'm starting a project for a newspaper company where I just started working as the in-house SEO. I'll have ownership along with the newspaper for this new internet marketing company and could use some advice.Should I build our new site on the newspapers domain with good pr already or start a fresh site from square one. I'm trying to weigh out the pro's and cons and I'm still undecided. This news company has been around since the 50's and the trust is there. But just one sticky situation with an uneducated client could hurt the reputation of the newspaper.Your thoughts please!

2 Word EMD's - Good of bad for SEO
Hello Again Moz Folks, I have a domain: www.edmontonweb.ca
Local SEO | | Web3Marketing87
It is currently on page 2 and I'm trying to figure out ways to improve its ranking. Because it is an EMD, I considered forwarding it to www.launchwebdesign.ca Considering there is existing Domain Authority on edmontonweb.ca, is this a good move?
Would forwarding the domain transfer DA to launchwebdesign.ca? Thanks, Anton0
