Local Non Brand Keywords Tanking!
-
We have been playing catch up and noticed that in between March and April, one of our sites has seen a drastic decrease in traffic for "city + keyword". All of the other keywords are doing very well.
The site has a page for each location. The traffic for these pages dropped by 33% between March and April. And page 1 rankings dropped by 30% as well. No drastic updates were made during this time.
The traffic and rankings have not came back. This isn't for every location either. It seems very random as far as the drop in rankings.
Did anything happen with local rankings at this time? Did anyone else see this? This is only affecting the Google traffic.
Let me know your thoughts.

Are these rankings for Maps, or Organic?
Have your competitors (if there really is such a thing) been adding links or have their SEOmoz numbers improved?
Have you made any changes to meta tags? Have you been actively promoting the site in the last three months?

We have a client that wants to apply UTM URL tagging to track local organic traffic in Google Analytics. Is there any benefit in doing this?
One of our clients requested that we apply UTM URL tagging to better track organic traffic in Google Analytics. We found this to be an odd request because we are most familiar with UTM tracking for special campaigns (referral tracking, PPC, email tracking, etc). Is there any benefit of applying UTM tags to urls to analyze local organic traffic in Google Analytics? Are there any resources out there about this? Thanks!

Where does the organic keyword information come from in Google Analytics?
I know that Google switch to all encrypted search, but I still show some keywords. Are those keywords that slipped through? Or are they all from Yahoo/Bing?

When to note Keyword improvement/decline?
Every report we have fluctuations in our rankings, but the majority of them are only a few places up or a few places down. Other than first page and top 3, when do you all start noting fluctuations (good or bad)? Would you start at 5, 10, 20 etc? Thanks, Ruben

Google Analytic - Is it possible to see which organic keyword triggered goals?
Hi, I am trying to see which of my Google organic keywords triggered my goals? In GA I click > Conversion > Goals > Overview > Source Medium (This then says where my goals came from but when I click Google / Organic it just brings me to the overview page of my organic traffic). Is it possible to see which organic keywords trigger goals?

How To Determine ROI For Specific Keywords
I have been looking through our analytics, and nealy all our conversions are from (not provided) keywords. I am trying to find the keywords that are performing best and also to determine the return I am getting from SEO efforts. I have been told the "not provided" keywords are due to people being logged into Google when they browse. However, this doesn't make sense to me. How is it that only the keywords that convert are "not provided"? Can anyone help with this?

Analytics/Google Keyword comparison
Hi I'm trying to establish a methodology to best show the gap between potential and realised organic keyword traffic. To obtain potential keyword traffic I'm using the Google Adwords keyword tool to derive local monthly search volumes for exact keyword matches. However, I'm confused as to which is the best way of getting a comparable metric from Google Analytics (GA). I was using custom reports and the 'organic searches' metric. However, this provides different values to a standard report selecting non-paid search in the default advanced segments. What is the best report/metric in GA to use for both organic and paid search volumes that would be comparable to the Google Adwords keyword tool. Also, I'm having problems getting my kids to eat their greens, any advice! 😉 Thanks Neil
