Moz Pro recommends not using a keyword more than 15 times. If there is a lot of content and the density is low, is it okay to go over that?

But if I use a keyword 50 times and the keyword density is only 2 percent, is that ok? What is more important, the raw number used or the density?

Nobody outside of Google, knows this type of information with certainty. My guess is that Google is only concerned with what is within the article portion of the page.
My honest opinion is that Google is not concerned with keyword density unless it is outrageous. If I am writing an article with the hope of ranking for a one-word query, my use of that word on the page has a density of about five percent. I have that density because my writing is very precise and explicit.
I never even think about how many instances of a keyword is on the page. My only concern is if the article is easy to read, easy to understand, and contains value for the reader. Over and over, Google has told webmasters to write as though search engines did not exist. I believe that is what I should do.

Thanks, that helps a lot. Also, let's say for example my keyword is "soap". Does google include the amount of times "soap" is counted just in the body text, or on the entire page? Soap may appear on the navigation bar as well as in many product titles on a category page. In some cases, this may double the number of times the keyword is found.

When you read it out loud, does it sound like natural speech or does it sound like you're just banging away at one keyword over and over? Because I believe that's what Google and the tool are probably getting at - making sure you're getting the keywords in there while still keeping the language as natural as possible.

In my opinion this is something that Moz should reevaluate because this question is asked over and over and over again in Q&A. Lots of people could be tearing up their articles to avoid using their keyword more than 15 times.
My personal opinion is that I should use my targeted keyword in text as many times as is needed while writing in natural language. I have articles that rank high on the first page of google for really really difficult queries. I just visited two of them that quickly come to my mind. On one I have used the targeted keyword 94 times, the other I used the targeted keyword 123 times.
I think that the number of times that a keyword NEEDS TO BE USED in an article depends in part on the length of that article. The two articles described above were 1622 words (5.6% KW density) and 2628 words (4.6% KW density) in length, not counting image captions and tabular data. If I had limit my use of the primary keywords to 15 times these articles would be turned into total rubbish. I would have to resort to extremely unnatural writing to make these articles work. The experience given to the reader would be horrible. I am willing to bet that the rankings of these pages would plummet if I took them down to 15 instances of the targeted keywords.
This could be advice that, if followed diligently, could damage the results of people who follow it. Moz wants to follow the ethic of "First do no harm" and for that reason, I think that this automated advice needs reevaluated as soon as possible.

Hey all! I work for a large healthcare company. We're in the planning stages of redesigning our website, and the question came up of whether we needed to continue with the patient-focused blog at all when we could simply incorporate the blog articles into the service lines they best fit with (i.e. an article about feeding babies solid good would go under the pediatrics section of the website instead of the pediatrics section of the blog).Anybody have an opinion/insight on whether the articles would get better rankings being dispersed to the services sections of the website instead of concentrated on a blog? Duplicate Content
I run a Business Directory, Where all the businesses are listed. I am having an issue.. with Duplication content. I have categories, Like A, B, C Now a business in Category A, User can filter it by different locations, by State, City, Area So If they filter it by the State and the State has 10 businesses and all of them are in one City. Keyword stuffing - is it true?
Hi, I use On-Page Report Card for this url (the web is in Bulgarian) : http://cholakovit.com My keyword is in Bulgarian - "уеб дизайн" (which means "web design". It shows me that my keywords is: " Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 5875 "I cannot find so many instances of this keyword. Only 13 uses for "уеб" and 10 for "дизайн" in the whole page code. Is there an error in the report?When I search the English version -http://cholakovit.com/enwhich is almost the same but translated in English of the page for the key phrase "web design" it shows only "Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 8"

Not using H1's with keywords to simulate natural non SEO'd content?
There has been a lot of talk lately about making a website seem like it is not SEO'd to avoid over optimization penalties with the recent Google Algorithmic updates. Has anyone come across the practice of not using Headings (H1's, H2's etc..) properly to simulate that the current webpage isn't over optimized? I've come across a site that used to use multiple keywords within their headings & now they are using none. In fact they are marking their company name & logo as an H1 and non keyworded H2's such as our work or Contact. Is anyone holding back on their old SEO tactics to not seem over optimized to Google? Duplicate content in the title
Good morning, I am developing an application that searches offers in the press. The problem I have is the follow one:

When I find an offer that I have already post, I cant use the same URL because it generates duplicate content , as the URL is generated from the title. If I find two offers in different stores (for example Thomson TV) I am studying two options. The first would be to add a number at the end of the URL

Content for ecommerce site
How important on site/page contents are for ecommerce site. Keeping in mind the page layout. Its not that important to have page copy/content at all for ecommerce sites If yes, does position of content is an important factor? if putting page copy/content in upper fold of a page then the most important thing which is product itself will have less exposure if putting near the footer of the page, does that seem like doing just for the sake of SEs and ranking. How important internal linking form that content would be compare to left panel links or links at the header of a website Thanks Rick

Blog content on homepage - Dupe Content Penalty?
Hi All, I am working on a website which has a blog at domain.com/blog/ On the homepage they are currently looping the latest 5 blog posts in a 'Latest News' tab. Is this therefore classed as dupe content, and would this be penalized by Google? Should I recommend they use the excerpts instead of full articles and simply loop the excerpts on the homepage?
