Single page website vs Google
-
Hi,
I was wondering on this issue:
There is a website for guesthouse. It has all information on one page (it is a valid page, with legitimate content). How google treats those pages? Would it treat it as Doorway Page? Or give some other penalties?
What about a bounce rate? Because it will be pretty high, as there is no option to go somewhere else?
What is your opinion on single page websites - SEO wise? Is it a shot in the foot?
Thanks!

No problem, glad to help!

Thanks Logan, appreciate both answers!

I should've mentioned this at first, but single-page sites are (generally speaking) much less likely to gain quality links since they don't have much content. Giving your site some link-worth content is a good way to win the battle between your site and another similar single-page site.

Hi Logan,
thank you very much for your reply
How about a page that is build for Guesthouse: there is not much info besides About, Location, Rooms and booking.
And lets stack it against other guesthouse, that has very similar content but About, Location, Rooms, Contact us is each a different page.
Would google prefer the one that has more pages (as the bounce rate would be probably lower) ?

Hi Leszek,
Single page websites don't do very well in search results. The primary reason for this is that there's too many topics discussed on one page. It's important to be able to optimize different pages for different topics. For example, a site that reviews running shoes could have a page optimized for different brands of running shoes, or different styles (trail running, road running, minimalist running shoes, etc..). If this site was a single-page site, you'd be diluting all those topics by putting them on one page.
There are cases where a single-page site can be used without hurting SEO efforts, but since most sites target a number of different topics, it's rare to see.

Just validating a theory I have about why Google is Soft 404ing some of my doctor pages.
As of June 1 doctor pages on our website that say "No ratings are available yet" are being Soft 404ed in our Google Console. We suspect the issue is that wording, due to this post. https://www.contentkingapp.com/academy/index-coverage/faq/submitted-soft-404/ Just wondering if anyone with more expertise than me on 404s or local seo can validate that it is likely this issue. Some examples:

Page Speed or Site Speed which one does Google considered a ranking signal
I've read many threads online which proves that website speed is a ranking factor. There's a friend whose website scores 44 (slow metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Despite that his website is slow, he outranks me on Google search results. It confuses me that I optimized my website for speed, but my competitor's slow site outperforms me. On Six9ja.com, I did amazing work by getting my target score which is 100 (fast metric score) on Google Pagespeed Insights. Coming to my Google search console tool, they have shown that some of my pages have average scores, while some have slow scores. Google search console tool proves me wrong that none of my pages are fast. Then where did the fast metrics went? Could it be because I added three Adsense Javascript code to all my blog posts? If so, that means that Adsense code is slowing website speed performance despite having an async tag. I tested my blog post speed and I understand that my page speed reduced by 48 due to the 3 Adsense javascript codes added to it. I got 62 (Average metric score). Now, my site speed is=100, then my page speed=62 Does this mean that Google considers page speed rather than site speed as a ranking factor? Google showing https:// page in search results but directing to http:// page
We're a bit confused as to why Google shows a secure page https:// URL in the results for some of our pages. This includes our homepage. But when you click through it isn't taking you to the https:// page, just the normal unsecured page. This isn't happening for all of our results, most of our deeper content results are not showing as https://. I thought this might have something to do with Google conducting searches behind secure pages now, but this problem doesn't seem to affect other sites and our competitors. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how we get around it?

Can You Use More Then One Google Local Rich Snippet on a single site/ on a single page.
I am currently working on a website for a business that has multiple office locations. As I am trying to target all four locations I was wondering if it is okay to have more then one Local Rich Snippet on a single page. (For example they list all four locations and addresses within their footer and I was wondering if I could make these local rich snippets). What about having more then one on a single website. For example if a company has multiple offices located in several different cities and have set up individual contact pages for these cities, can each page have it's own Local Rich Snippet? Will Google look at these multiple "local rich snippets" as spaming or will they recognize the multiple locations and count it towards their local seo?

Hotel affiliate website - noindex pages with little unique content?
We are well into development of a hotel affiliate website (using Expedia Affiliate Network), and I know there are many challenges to SEO when using an affiliate system - one of the biggest being how to handle duplicate content. Outside of blog posts and static marketing pages, the majority of the textual content is contained in hotel descriptions. We will be creating unique descriptions over time, but we are a small team and this will be a lengthy process. My question for you mozzers, is whether or not it's advisable for ranking purposes to noindex any page with mostly 'stock' content, and only allow Google to index hotel pages with unique descriptions? Thanks for any input!
