Missing Description Tag
-
I pulled the latest moz report and my category pages are being flagged as missing description tag, but not only is the description visible on each page, it is also in the code for all to see.
Here is the code, what am I missing?

Hi There!
It is a bit difficult for me to tell from this post exactly which URL that you are referring to, but I took a look at your full site crawl and narrowed it down using the page title "Astronaut Costumes", per the code you pasted above. Of the two pages with that title, http://www.interstellarstore.com/toys-and-costumes/astronaut-costumes and http://www.interstellarstore.com/astronaut-costumes, neither is being reported in the site crawl or the page optimization reports as missing the meta description. (Page optimization actually reports that the meta descriptions are too long.)
However, I definitely see that there are a large number of other pages in your crawl that are reported as missing the meta description. For the handful of those I checked, it does look like that error is being reported correctly. It looks like you've submitted a support request to our help team, so it would be very helpful if you could follow up there with specific examples of pages that are reported as missing the meta description, but that actually have the meta description in the source code so they can look into this further for you.
We look forward to hearing back from you there soon.

This is a weird situation, Screaming Frog isn't having any issues pulling your meta descriptions. Before you spend a bunch of time trying to fix this, I'd wait until your next crawl and see if the issue persists. It might just be a glitch in Moz.
Regarding your meta keywords tag issues, don't fix them, just remove that tag altogether. Search engines don't even look at that tag anymore. The only purpose that tag serves anymore is giving your competition an inside look at what you're targeting on what page.

Fantastic, always when you need to solve this, usually look in the theme directory you are using, it is where it print the content, and like php developers, the folder "includes" is where the header.php, content.php sidebar.php or footer.php are (or similar), is the folder to put this files to not repeat this code again and again in all urls.
-
Ah yes, found it - thank you. I use Opencart, which isn't great. But your advice helped me find the file in 30 seconds instead of 30 minutes so thank you. That is the keyword space fixed!
-
I can´t see what cms you are using (not wordpress, drupal or joomla), probably is in a theme template, in a folder call includes, the file the print the header, probably header.php or something, depends the cms or the structure.
-
Yes, I know I need to edit the code - but finding the file is always a nightmare. While I can edit code, I'm not a developer, and I tend to spend a good half an hour finding the file only to implement a 5 second fix!
-
You first fix that by hand, and after you have to wait Google Re-index your site
-
I will of course fix that, but it won't resolve the issue at hand
-
I'm sorry, what do you mean by ''strange''?
-
I still think you should fix de separation in the keywords content= " as Sean said first time
-
The indentation code looks strange
-
I'll ask them, thank you.
-
Apologies, my mistake.
The Mozbar picks up your meta descriptions correctly so I don't know what's going on. Perhaps flag this question as 'Moz Support' and see what the tech guys say?

Hi Sean, the part with the missing space is under Keywords, not Description. Surely that can't be it (but thanks for pointing that out, I will fix that as soon as I find the file which contains the info).
-
I did have a similar issue in the past with a client and we used to have the same problem, with the solution Sean gives should it be resolved.
-
Would this be anything to do with the space you have between the 'equals' sign and the opening quote marks:

How crucial are H1 tags and descriptions in wordpress categories?
Hi all Trying to improve SEO for my (mostly) local site, www.nectarbridge.com, and recently got back on Moz Pro account. First crawl of my site by Moz, a manageable number of issues that I've mostly sorted, but the category with the largest number of problems is missing or invalid tags. My content pages and blog posts are not missing the tags. It's category, archives, etc., including multiple pages, ex: https://www.nectarbridge.com/category/blog/page/4/ A smaller number of pages are being flagged by Moz as missing descriptions, and they are also category pages and the like. So the question is - how hard should I pursue fixing these issues? I'm using the divi theme, which apparently doesn't display the category description by default (if it did, that would kill two birds with one stone). There is a fix to add the category description, but before I get into that I'm trying to discern whether this issue really matters greatly to SEO or if I should spend that time just working on more content.

Syntax for canonical tag for a default page in a sub directory (not subdomain) of a web site?
I'm getting two "no canonical tag" errors for the default page of a sub-directory default page (www and root) - again NOT a subdomain. Since the page is not the root of its own site, I tagged it as -- I have tried without the default.asp, but the error remains. Been doing this for 24 years and don't remember running across this before.

How do I combat title tag issues in Moz because of long company/site name? [Currently using Yoast SEO Plugin]
I've only just started to dip my toe into the SEO pool, so please forgive me if this is a silly question. I've been working heavily in the Moz tool and the Yoast SEO plugin to clean up the meta descriptions on our site, as there were many pages without descriptions in place (we just transferred from a different CMS to Wordpress within the last month or so). Now I'm noticing on our Site Crawl that we have 60+ pages that have title elements that are considered too long. When I go in to fix these issues on our blog posts (as this is where most of the issues lie), Yoast is already giving me the green light on the title lengths. I've discovered that the reason why Moz is telling us that many of our site lengths are too long is because "| Parker Staffing Services" is added to the end of our title tags automatically. Deep breath Now that you've heard all of the backstory... Is there a way that I can prevent that site title (which is 26 characters all by itself! Talk about limiting!) from displaying on search engines when our blog posts or pages show up in search results? I've poked around in the Titles & Metas settings that come with Yoast, but I fear making too many changes will result in me screwing something up. Help an SEO beginner out? 🙂

Is your live site supposed to have rel canonical tags?
I recently started working for a company and got them to use Moz and I have found that our secure site and our live sites are creating "duplicate content" according to the Crawl Diagnostics feature. On our secure site we have rel canonical tags pointing to our live site. I'm not super familiar with rel canonical tags, but our developer says we're doing the right thing. Would love any insight you guys may have if this is actually duplicate content or not. Thanks so much!

Moz shows duplicate content, but URL's are tagged with campaign tags
Crawl diagnostics shows a lot of pages with duplicate content, but when I check the details, I see that it lists the same page but the url contains a campaign tag, so it's not really another page that is serving identical content... Is there a way to remove these pages out of the Crawl Diagnostics?
