Moz shows duplicate content, but URL's are tagged with campaign tags
-
Crawl diagnostics shows a lot of pages with duplicate content, but when I check the details, I see that it lists the same page but the url contains a campaign tag, so it's not really another page that is serving identical content...
Is there a way to remove these pages out of the Crawl Diagnostics?

Hey Joris,
I'm afraid that we aren't able to see what parameters you are adding to GWT, since we don't use that information in any way to crawl your site. We conduct a proprietary crawl of the site and report on exactly what your source code and server respond with.
Patrick is right that adding the canonical tags to your site (or using the robots.txt file to block the campaign pages) would clear up those errors in our crawler.
Since some dynamic URL generators can cause problems for crawlers, we do try to be overly-inclusive of these issues. We want people to know about potential issues with sites, even if they're not really issues in the scheme of the site owner's specific SEO implementation plan. In sum, we'd rather leave those judgments up to you. I hope this helps explain our thinking here!

Hi there
Well the canonical tag would help Moz understand that this page isn't duplicate, that's why I mentioned that tactic.
As far as Search Console, I was just trying to help get you other angles covered.
I would try canonical tags and see how that goes over on your next report.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thanks,
I already added the URL parameters in GWT but it's the duplicate content that is appearing in my MOZ reports because of those tags.
No way to exclude them of MOZ? Imagine you have a page that and a lot of tagged links pointing towards that page, it's gonna list all those tagged links in the duplicate content report.

Hi there
Campaign tags don't signal unique content. It's essentially the same concept as...
http://www.example.com
http://example.comBoth are two different URLs but have the same content, thus making it duplicate content, even though it's technically the same page.
What you can do is take a look into your canonical tags and make sure those are upto date and correct. You can also look into categorizing your parameters, letting crawlers know how to handle this content. Both of these resources will help with your duplicate content issue.
Yoast has a great resource as well for common causes and solutions to duplicate content.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Moz isn't recognizing content on our website hosted on bubble.is
Hi all. We have a bubble.is site and it's difficult to get Moz to recognize the text on the site (even though Google seems to recognize it most of the time). The pages are recognized...just not the text. **In case you want to play around: ** https:getmarlow.com/about https://getmarlow.com/article/gather-data-on-where-your-time-and-energy-go-1579415891021x868278876529492000

404 error for unknown URL that Moz is finding in our blog
I'm receiving 404 errors on my site crawl for messinastaffing.com. They seem to be generating only from our blog posts which sit on Hubspot. I've searched high and low and can't identify why our site URL is being added at the end - I've tried every link in our blog and cannot repeat the error the crawl is finding. For instance: Referer is: http://blog.messinastaffing.com/take-charge-career-story-compelling-cover-letter/ 404 error is: http://blog.messinastaffing.com/take-charge-career-story-compelling-cover-letter/www.messinastaffing.com I agree that the 404 error URL doesn't exist but I can't identify where Moz is finding it. I have approximately 75 of these errors - one for every blog on our site. Beth Morley Vice President, Operations Messina Group Staffing Solutions

Crawlers reporting upper case letter url versions although these have been 301'd to lower case !?
Hi I have a client e-com site who's dev platform is on a windows server Their product pages have been auto-named after the product title, with the first letter in each word being upper case, which has hence translated to the URL having upper cases instances too. I asked them to set up 301 redirects for all url's that had upper case instances to lower case versions, which they say they have done. However I'm still seeing url's with upper case instances showing up in webmaster tools and moz crawl reports but when I copy & paste them into a browser they do redirect to, & resolve in, the lower case version. Its also upper case versions reported in the Google cache! So how come webmaster tools & Moz etc are reporting the upper case versions, surely if redirected it should be the lower case versions All Best Dan

Excel tips or tricks for duplicate content madness?
Dearest SEO Friends, I'm working on a site that has over 2,400 instances of duplicate content (yikes!). I'm hoping somebody could offer some excel tips or tricks to managing my SEOMoz crawl diagnostics summary data file in a meaningful way, because right now this spreadsheet is not really helpful. Here's a hypothetical situation to describe why: Say we had three columns of duplicate content. The data is displayed thusly: | Column A | Column B | Column C URL A | URL B | URL C | In a perfect world, this is easy to understand. I want URL A to be the canonical. But unfortunately, the way my spreadsheet is populated, this ends up happening: | Column A | Column B | Column C URL A | URL B | URL C URL B | URL A | URL C URL C | URL A | URL B | Essentially all of these URLs would end up being called a canonical, thus rendering the effect of the tag ineffective. On a site with small errors, this has never been a problem, because I can just spot check my steps. But the site I'm working on has thousands of instances, making it really hard to identify or even scale these patterns accurately. This is particularly problematic as some of these URLs are identified as duplicates 50+ times! So my spreadsheet has well over 100K cells!!! Madness!!! Obviously, I can't go through manually. It would take me years to ensure the accuracy, and I'm assuming that's not really a scalable goal. Here's what I would love, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Does anyone know of a formulaic way that Excel could identify row matches and think - "oh! these are all the same rows of data, just mismatched. I'll kill off duplicate rows, so only one truly unique row of data exists for this particular set" ? Or some other work around that could help me with my duplicate content madness? Much appreciated, you Excel Gurus you!
