Do you think have to re-submit my site to search engines after I made improvements?
-
Some time ago I started to do SEO for a one-page website and didn't get any positive result: no traffic, no filled in online booking form (yet another, multiple page website offering the same service yielded in multiple filled-in "schedule an appointment" forms). I found out my one-page website was considered to be "keyword-spamming" and converted it to a multiple page one. Its domain authority went up, but it doesn't still bring any traffic. I am thinking maybe I have to let the search engines know that it has been updated so they stop penalizing it? Do you think it might help and if yes, what exactly I should do? Will be thankful very much for any suggestion!

Thanks for your help, Carson! I just realized that I put in http://example.com while using Open Site Explorer. When I searched for http://www.example.com, I received the result with PA 29.
Once Moz tech support rep told me that in ranking results, only the best optimized page is shown for a particular keyword. I'm doing optimization for an appliance repair company and some time ago we created area pages (burbank-appliance-repair.html, etc.) for area based services (like burbank appliance repair, for example). I decided to promote area based services through our blog and created respective blog posts (post for Burbank Appliance repair, etc) I made sure to delete all previous area pages links but I didn't delete area pages from server. And they are still shown in Moz ranking results as pages for my high ranking keywords. Do you think that those pages are really better optimized and I should go back to them? My blog posts are also shown for some keywords in ranking results, but not for highly ranking area based services keywords...

If it's just an indexation issue you can try the "fetch as google" feature under the crawl menu. You can google the site:URL to see whether this is necessary.
Your PA might have dropped on the home page if you changed the URL. For pages that Moz hasn't been able to look at and compute the default score is 1. All new pages are always 1, and will update when the new index comes out (roughly every 1-2 months). Also make sure you do a 301 redirect if you've changed the URLs.
Sometimes it requires a little more time and effort depending on which keywords you're targeting. Without seeing the site and looking at the links I can't say much more about it, but the first thing I'd look at is your backlink profile. If it looks like a lot of links anyone can get by posting a comment or something, there may be the problem.

That's what confuses me most of all - the website's backlink profile is getting better every single month, its DA is increasing, I've updated the content (made sure it's not keyword spammy) - yet traffic is close to zero. Website's spam score is 5/17: low MozTrust or MozScore, large site with few links (not true), small proportion of branded links (not true).
I have another website on the same topic that seemed to have some traffic. It has online request form that people used to fill in. After some work on on-page SEO traffic is gone. No one fills in the form. I guess I did too much (homepage's PA fell down from 20 to 1). While it's DA went up from 1 to 14. Now I'm revising the texts, titles, and meta descriptions. Do you think I have to get Google to visit my website after I'm done?
Thank you!

Just to add on to what Kevin is saying, a reconsideration request is generally not the way to go unless you've received a manual warning in Search Traffic > Manual Warnings. It's more likely that the site doesn't rank due to limited backlinks and content. Make sure you look at the keywords you want to rank for and ask yourself whether you're providing as much value to the users as those on page 1.

Hi kirupa,
Once you log into Google Search Console, select your website. Then click on Crawl on the left hand side and then Fetch as Google.
Here is a link that explains it in more detail:

Hope this helps!

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your reply! I just cannot figure out where exactly that section (Fetch as Google) is...
-
Hi kirupa,
There are a few ways to get Google to visit or crawl your site. One way is to login to Google Webmaster Tools / Search Console and go to the section that lets you "Fetch as Google" and have it fetch your website or if you have a specific page to crawl, then enter that there.
Other ways is to create a sitemap and then submit it withing the same console. That way, if things change on your site on a regular basis it will be automatically updated by your sitemap, which Google will check on a regular basis.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Kevin

PWA for Desktop Site (Ecommerce)
Hi Folks, Need guidance about using PWA on desktop site. As I know PWA is basically used for mobile site to engage visitor more and let them surf your site like an app. Would it be good SEO practice to use PWA on desktop site(E-commerce site) by calling everything through Javascript and let google Crawler cache only site logo and Hide everything else?

Https Cached Site
Hi there, I recently switch my site to a new ecommerce platform which hosts the SSL certificate on their end so my site no longer has the HTTPS status unless a user is going through the checkout. Google has cached the HTTPS version of the site so in search it comes up sometimes which leads to a nasty warning that the site may not be what they are looking for. Is there a way to tell google NOT to look at the https version of the site anymore? Thanks! Bianca

I'm thinking I might need to canonicalize back to the home site and combine some content, what do you think?
I have a site that is mostly just podcasts with transcripts, and it has both audio and video versions of the podcasts. I also have a blog that I contribute to that links back to the video/transcript page of these podcasts. So this blog I contribute to has the exact same content (the podcast; both audio and video but no transcript) and then an audio and video version of this podcast. Each post of the podcast has different content on it that is technically unique but I'm not sure it's unique enough. So my question is, should I canonicalize the posts on this blog back to the original video/transcript page of the podcast and then combine the video with the audio posts. Thanks!

Cross links between sites
hi, We have several ecommerce sites and we cross linked 3 of them by mistake. We realize that the sites were linked through WMT, We have shut down 2 of the sites about 2 months ago, but WMT still shows the links coming from those 2 sites. how do we make sure that google will see the sites are shut down. Is there a better of way resolving this issue. We are no longer using those sites, so do not need them to be active. whats the best solution to show google that the links are no longer there. Crawler shows that it was able to crawl the site 45 days after it is shut down. thanks nick

Site Categorization?
I know getting site categories to appear under the site are dependent on a lot of factors including site mapping. We have a site that does the categorization thing when you type in the sites url name however more people search for the name of the talent to find the site and the short url on the site is just his name, but shorter. However I was just wondering is their a way to optimize the site so that way we could get categorization to show up under the sites URL when they search for the talents full name I ask because the amount of people looking for the talents full name rather than the short name is a lot larger and I would like to see if we can take advantage of the real estate, but I honestly don't think there is a way, however I figured I would open it up to discussion to see if anyone has any ideas. Example: Site name is ABCD you type this into Google and you get ABCD.com about blog how to contact However the actual person whose site it is is ABCDEF and when you type that in you just get: ABCD.com without any of the categories appearing below the url. And that is what I'm asking about. Thanks as I can't seem to find a lot of information on this. However if there is another spot on the site talking about this please let me know I may just not be searching with the right terms.

Should I create mini-sites with keyword rich domain names pointing to my main site?
Hi, I'm new to seomoz (and seo in general) and loving it so far. My main domain name is more of a brandname than a search engine friendly list of keywords. I rank well for some keywords I optimized for, and less so for the more competitive keywords. I was wondering if making one page minisites hosted on keyword rich domain names could help in this respect? What I want to do is just have a single page with a few paragraphs of content and links to the main site. I am not looking for links to boost the main site, just for the minisites to do better for several keywords. Will this help? Is this ok, or against some Google policy? Can this hurt the main site rankings? Thank you! **Edit: **I noticed that sites ranking above me on the first page for some keywords have much less on-page elements than my page, have about the same domain trust and also very little inbound links. The only factor I can see is the exact match of keywords in the domain name.
