Redirecting an IP address
-
Just taken over a new client who recently moved from A.N. other platform to Shopify. I just found reference to their old website IP address and it appears to be not redirecting.
Can I simply use something like Traffic Control (Shopify app) to redirect to the new domain?
-
Possibly, but I would ask a developer if they can set up a redirect for the IP address so you wouldn't have to handle this through a plugin as it seems that you want to redirect the whole thing.

SEO Friendly Files Redirected From Images
I have images (.jpg's) of products that when you click them redirect you to a .pdf's containing all the products' specs, patterns, colors, etc. These are 302 redirects that open on a different window when clicked on. Is there a way to keep these redirects and maintain SEO optimization? Any advice is appreciated.

What is true impact of permanent magento redirects?
Hi everyone, I got a tough technical SEO question, that is bugging almost everyone in the (ecommerce) company at the moment. Due to a very "unhealthy" structure of Magento folders, with different countries using same folders in different store views, many of our URL's do change almost on a weekly basis and this is terrifying us. What happens is, that there is a "-numberx"(ex. /category/product-1.html) added to hundreds of URLs so that we are more and more concerned about the impact on SEO. I checked the redirect information with the Moz Toolbar and saw, the following information: http://prntscr.com/81v23e So, even though we had URLs with /category/product-1.html, /category/product-2.html,... the redirect seems to go straight to the last number. My question? -Can this be interpreted as one redirect and therefore it is "less" painful from an SEO point of view?

-As we do not have a constant target URL, where does the link juice go if the target page constantly keeps changing (number goes still up) Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks0 -

How do i fix temporary redirects from Volusion?
I have around 20 temporary redirects that i can not really change. they look like this: http://www.bestfitbybrazil.com/reviewhelpful.asp?ProductCode=PANT+PA4069GRAFFITI&ID=17&yes=yes/login.asp See attached As you can see they are from LOGIN.ASP. This are system calls. I think the last thing I tried was blocking them in my robottxt file. but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Am I being effected by these redirects? How will Google look at them? QmiQcD6

GEO IP Redirects affecting Organic Rankings
Not sure if anyone has ever had this problem. We have a client who is a UK based retailer with a large retail presence in Canada and a U.S site as well. For the past year while keeping track of their rankings, they steadily ranked #1 for their brand term on Google.CA. At the end of June we implemented a GEO IP redirect for U.S visitors to be redirected to the U.S site if they clicked on the .CA listing. Over the next two weeks the ranking for the single branded keyword went from #1 to completely off the top 50. Could this have possibly happened due to the GEO IP redirect? The .CO.UK site has always been top 3 in the organic listing and is still #1 but in Google.ca the Canadian site has dropped off completely after consistently ranking #1.

Multi Language Redirect Issues
Hello everyone, this is my first post and as so let me first say, Thank you! The SEO Moz community and SeoMozPro have been giving a great help in making my workflow simpler and richer. Lately I've been reading and learning a lot about indexation, in the process I have been making several improvements to some websites, but there is one particular that I am not able to understand. I am writing this post to ask for your help on an issue related to this website: www.dengun.com We are a Web Agency based in Portugal and most our clients are from Portugal. We have an English version and a Portuguese version of the website. It is setup like this: www.dengun.com/en www.dengun.com/pt When the user hits www.dengun.com it redirects to /en or /pt acording to the browser language. The HTTP status code is 302, i was reading in SEOMoz that this is bad because it's not passing rank to the other pages. Will a 301 redirecting to /en and /pt according to the browsers language? What is the best solution? Thanks.

301 Redirect To Corresponding Link No Matter The URL?
Hey guys I have hosting on Host Gator with I believe an apache web server. I need a code to put in the HT ACCESS to redirect all WWW URL's to their corresponding http URL. I haven't been able to get a code to work. For example, http://www.mysite.org/page1.html -> http://mysite.org/page1.html , without having to redirect hundreds of pages individually Here is the format my server uses in the HT ACCESS file for 301 redirects. RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mysite.org$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.mysite.org

IP address being indexed by Google in addition to canonical domain.
Our site's IP address is being indexed in addition to the canonical www.example.com domain. As soon as it was flagged a 301 was implemented in the .htaccess file to redirect the IP address to the canonical. Does this usually occur? Is it detrimental to SEO? In my time in SEO I've never heard of this being an issue, or being part of a list of things to be checked. It sounds more like a server that wasn't configured correctly when hosting was set up? It didn't seem to be affecting the site at all, but is it more common and I've just never heard of it? 😛 Should it be something I'm usually looking for in future? Responses are greatly appreciated!
