Page speed not good despite CDN and caching. Can this be fixed?
-
My page speed results are here, showing a speed of 40 seconds. I get an F for compress text, compress images and cache static content. How do I resolve this?
Also..
I've set up a CDN. Is it a problem for SEO, that there is a copy of all my images and content at cdn.mysite.com? We get lots of search traffic through google images search.

Thanks for the "YSlow" very good tool.

Thanks Ryan!
That all makes sense. Really appreciate it

I checked both your home page and an article with PageSpeed. The same issues I mentioned earlier still remain.
You offer a wedding photography site so it is natural you offer high-res images. Understand that even if you optimize your pages as much as possible, your site speed will always be noticeably slower then a webpage such as this Q&A section which is made up mostly of text.
With the above understood, Page Speed and other similar tools will ensure you maximize the speed for your site. You currently have dozens of images which do not specify an image size. For facebook, there are a dozen images which are 50x50. You can add one line of code to take care of those 12 images. There are still dozens of images left on your pages without image sizes specified.
I am not familiar with W3 Total Cache, but I can see in Page Speed dozens of images on your cdn without a cache expiration specified.
Another quick tip, if you are using PhotoShop, be sure to always use the "Save for Web & Devices" option which will compress your image files. Otherwise I highly recommend Yahoo's Smushit which is a free and fast online lossless compression tool. This would seem to be the #1 issue on your site presently and will make a noticeable difference in loading speed.

Thanks Ryan.
I've now added in a cache date on all images in W3 Total Cache. I will also add in image height and with attributes for all images in my theme. All the images in our posts already have those attributes. Hopefully the theme files will help.
I've installed w3 total cache a few weeks ago, but our site speed still seems incredibly slow for some people. It hasn't improved noticeably.
I've checked in "Page Speed" and the score is 82/100.

To improve your results you need to make the following changes:
-
specify a cache date for your images of at least one week. Your images are showing up properly on your cdn but they still need a cache date for improved scores and results
-
specify all your image dimensions. Your html for an image should look something like <img src="/images/mustang.jpg" width="200" height="100" alt="Mustang GT5.0" />
Try making those two changes and your speed and score should noticeably improve. I would recommend PageSpeed to check your speed in the future as it is an industry known tool. YSlow would be another great tool to use.
** Is it a problem for SEO, that there is a copy of all my images and content at cdn.mysite.com?**
None at all

Tips for improving google places page
link here When I started working on this page he had multiple incorrect listings. I removed the incorrect ones and created this page. It has been confirmed via postcard and up for several months now. I have the profile filled out to 100% completion. Yet it does not show up very high in local map results. A ton of the business that do show up higher have profiles that are incomplete. Many of them show their address when they do not serve customers at their location. So it is a bit aggravating. Any suggestions to make this profile rank higher? I have been creating more citations through whitespark and working on the actual site itself.

Trying to Merge Google + Local and Google Business Page _ How to?
Hi I have been reading so many posts about merging Google Plus + (Places) accounts and the new Google + Business Pages. I am working with a business who has a verified account in both. How ( and in fact should we try and merge). The old Places page has a review the newly create Business Page does not but is better optimized. Any help would be gratefully received as my head is spinning/ PS based in New Zealand

Does it affect SEO if my "Menu Label" is a shortened form of my "Page Title"?
This might be a very simple question, but I'm just trying to make sure I don't make Google think I'm trying to pull a fast one. For example, my page title would be "Bridal Fashions", but the menu label would be "fashions" to keep the navigation panel simple and streamlined.

Google Local Page Not Showing in Search Results
Hi! I am having an issue with our business's Google+/Local/Places/whatever-the-heck-you-call-it-these-days page not showing up in search results. I work for a company called Nexxtep Technology Services. We are located in Valdosta, GA. We have a Google+ page that's filled out nicely and I would love it if it would show up next to the search results when you search "nexxtep technology services" or "nexxtep valdosta" in Google. For some reason, it does not. I have a feeling what might be a source of the issue...we have developed and hosted websites for clients, and we used to put a link to our site in the footer. Now, I know that's not a good thing to do. We don't do that anymore, and I have since removed those links from existing sites. I removed them almost 6 weeks ago now. Should I give Google a little more time to crawl these sites again? Any guidance would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you for your help!

My worst performing pages all have this /products/ URL structure...?
I rank first for my brand "example" on example.com But my product pages simply don't rank. Frankly, I don't know where they rank, but it's not top 40. They are indexed, as searching "site:example.com" returns all my site's pages. My product pages are outranked even by some of my shorter blog posts about the product. My product pages are the only ones on the site that use a folder/directory in the url. example.com**/products/**product-one is nowhere but this is the main product page. example.com/short-blog-article-about-product-one. Is the fact that the product pages are with the slashes a red herring and I should be looking for anther cause? Or is google saying, well these product pages are the only ones in these sort of path and therefore we'll treat them as secondary sources? Thanks

Finding Pages with Youtube Embedded Videos in Google SERP
I'm trying to figure out a process to find specific youtube embed videos using Google search. But a lot of sites are not being returned. For example, I know that the following video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1MnylRaQC3w) is linked to and embedded on http://gizmodo.com/5898438/watch-how-fender-builds-its-iconic-stratocasters However, I can't figure out a set of search terms to find that in Google. Searching for (1MnylRaQC3w Gizmodo) doesn't return the right page in the results. I'd like to figure this out so I could see everywhere a certain youtube video has been embedded.

How can we geo-target our website optimization for cities besides our physical location?
We have a client that is a solar energy installation & leasing company in Austin, TX that wants to target the Houston and Dallas markets. We can do a Place Page for their physical offices in Austin and San Antonio to drive traffic for those cities. But we’re not sure the best way to help them rank for Houston and Dallas, where they don't have a physical address. We’re considering a separate landing page for each city, optimized for the geo-term. Will that help them to rank in the 7Pack in Houston and Dallas, if there’s no Place Page? Will it help them rank in the organic listings for that region? Can you offer any other suggestions for how to help them rank in 2 cities where they don’t have physical offices?
