1 physical address, 2 live GMBs for 2 different businesses
-
We recently have a chiropractor client who came to us to do SEO for his newly opened myotherapy practice. We were very surprised he managed to request and got approved a GMB for the myotherapy practice under a different business name but the exact same address. Has there been changes in Google policy recently that 2 businesses are able to share the one same address? If we built citations for the myotherapy practice with the same address, will it send conflicting signals to Google? His chiropractor practice is currently ranking no. 1 in local pack and SERP for his main keyword "chiropractor + location".
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Gavo,
My apologies for the delayed reply, as I've been away for the past 10 days. I think you're right to feel some concerns and have some questions about what your client is doing. If the myotherapy is just a service his chiropractic office is offering, then he shouldn't be building out new listings for it. Google's policy on this hasn't changed.
However there are some nuances to the scenario, like:
-
Did he legally register this with government agencies as a new, completely distinct business
-
Does he have a unique phone number for the business, being answered "Myotherapy Office" instead of "Chiropractic Office" when patients (or Google) phone in?
-
Is the myotherapy part of the business open at separate hours from the chiro business?
There could, potentially, be cause for treating the two models as separate, but you'll need to know the complete details before making an educated guess as to whether the owner is putting himself at risk for suspension.

Hi Gavo,
The point is that Google doesn't know that this is the 'same' company actually (just with a different name).
Think about that: Having different companies with different names at the same address is very common, i.e. they are located at the same address. We have about half a dozen companies in our house (same address).
I don't think this makes sense for him if he does exactly the same business with the 2nd company name...Then I would remove the 2nd listing. If he is doing two businesses under two different names at the same address it should be OK.
We are doing and having the later thing actually. 2 different companies, with 2 names (same people; always we) doing 2 different business at the exact same address.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Cesare

Seasonal Setting Options for Google My Business
Hi there, Not sure if anyone will have any insight but I have a seasonal business that I am closed for from September to March. I don't want to mark my business as "permanently closed" through Google My Business as I don't want my customers to think I've gone out of business. I've seen a few times through forums that you can change your business to temporarily closed, but I can't find the specifics on how to do this. Any insight, suggestion or resources would be great! Thanks!

Children's club Google My Business conundrum
Hi there I have been contacted by a small business to help them with their SEO effort.
Local Listings | | coolhandluc
The business is a children's club offering drama classes, music classes etc... Looking at their online visibility shows they don't even have a Google my business profile which is where i was going to start however, they operate from a local school after hours. The local school already has a GMB profile, obviously with the same address and postcode. Is it possible to set up a GMB for the children's club anyway? Many thanks0 -
Improve Google Business ranking
While my client's websites have been ranking well in SERP for their keyterms I'm at a lost on what I can do to improve their Google business/map presence. I'm referring to their listing where the top three come up or when you search on Google Maps.

https://gyazo.com/26ec78ed7f712157ec72492199545431 Ex 1. Several months ago my client was ranked #1 both for SERP and maps until they dropped to 2nd on maps. Now they're ranked 1st in search yet 2nd for local business rankings as you can see from the screenshot above. At one point my client's business did have more reviews than the 1st ranking business yet they still weren't 1st. Ex. 2. Client(s) is ranked 4th in search and doesn't show in the top 3 map listings for their search term. If you click on More places to view Google Maps they're listed all the way down as the 15th listing or worse can't even be found when searching by their main SEO key term . Of course they are found by searching for their business name so it's not like there is a problem with the listing. I make sure to: Completely fill out their Google Business profile(NAP, hours and add pictures) Have my client try to gain positive reviews Manage and respond to reviews(mainly the negative ones) Add map and Google business link to their website Can anyone offer any other insight on what else can be done to improve their local presence on maps that I might be missing?0 -
What to do with One physical location but serving multiple cities?
Hello everyone, I need help about this. My client sent me this "I have a question about doing local SEO for other locations for the same company.

The Brisbane data recovery business is linked to Corporate data recovery and are physically based at the same address. Now we have other website for the same business, but named after other cities (eg sydneydatarecovery, melbournedatarecovery etc.). The business has only one physical address, which the one used for Brisbane and Corporate. How can we do Local SEo for the other location website with our Brisbane address.
We do have the Google location registered to a local address we have in each cities, but not display to the public." N.b I already build citation using the address for Brisbane Data Recovery business name. And I didn't know about this before. Please help me to fix this mess.0 -
Relocating a Business location on Google My Business
Hello, One of our clinics is moving a couple of miles away from it's current location. Does anyone know the proper steps to take to make the change in Google My Business. I know I can go in and edit all the details, but what becomes of the former listing? If someone were to search by our name and the former street address, is Google going to be smart enough to deliver our new location as the search result? Also, I know there's a Mark Permanently Closed feature, but that's not exactly true. That location didn't "close," it relocated so I'm assuming I should stay away from that feature. Thanks in advance for any insight. Erik

Change of address
does anyone have any experience in local search results and how a change of address will affect you? I'm going to move but am afraid that google local pack will stop ranking me. I want to know if I will be negatively affected (i.e., de ranked) in the interim as the directories update my new address and also how long it will take.

Local SEO for a company with 3 sites, for 3 different type of businesses
Hi I've been working for an employment lawyer in Sydney for 3 years now, all good, I built many citations and fixed all ones and the website/blog are ranking fine. Imagine I created the citation using e.g Anton Forester Employment lawyers, name, phone and address. Now the client just launched a website about property with the same name/brand and a different business title e.g Anton Forrester Property Lawyer and another 3rd website about conveyancing with the same name/brand and another business title e.g Anton Forrester Conveyancing law. My question is how do I build citations now that the name is different in the 3 cases, 3 websites but possibly the same phone and address? Thanks a lot Cheers Nico
