SEOmoz bar causes FF to hang
-
I use FireFox as my browser on a Windows pc. When I close FF it rarely closes properly. The process is still visible in the task manager. I need to end the process to shut it down.
After researching the issue I learned this problem is usually caused by an add-on. I disabled my add-ons one at a time and it is clearly the SEOmoz bar causing the issue. I can run every other add-on without any problem but if I use the mozbar but itself, the issue occurs.
I plan to report this problem to the help desk but first I wanted to ask if others are experiencing the same issue. The more data that can be collected, the easier it will be to resolve the problem.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

If it happens I tend to use the task manager to kill it after 30 seconds.

Same issue here. Firefox will eventually close for me, but it takes 5 minutes or so.

You May have already done all this, but just in case others may be experiencing...
Just as a first step i would remove the MOZBAR (Not disable actually remove fully)
Second clear all cache and cookies (clearing all your PC's temp and prefetch can sometimes assist as well, but not necessarily relevant. And yes i know there are many articles out there that say do not clear prefetch, but they are incorrect...
Next reinstall the Addon
Just from years of support, this is the first steps I would take on any addon no matter the author. Add ons source code is rarely the issue, and most often system specific. But of course there are always exceptions to the rule!!

Realized after making blanket statement "Add ons source code is rarely the issue, and most often system specific" ..... That could be misinterpreted. Speaking specifically to hung processes, this is caused by a DLL interacting incorrectly, and if your temp and cache is full, this adds to the issue especially in this instance because the browser itself begins reacting slower, because it is having to shift around data every time a query is made. In the instance of Mozbar, I would assume it makes a "call" on almost every interaction with browser. This is the reason for both the Temp and cache clear as well as reinstall. (Just to verify it gets a "fresh start" at interacting with system resources)
But of course this could be the simple fact that the addon is making so many calls.... Hope i cleared something up (probably not LOL)

Question about SEOMoz Pro and Root Domain vs. Subdomain tracking
I currently have two Pro campaigns set up. They are both tracking the root domains of two different e-commerce sites. I also am tracking three competitors for each company, in each campaign. I have those set up by subdomains, like so www.Competitor.com. So in my Historical link analysis I am getting MyRootDomain.com, compared to www.competitor1.com, www.competitor2.com and www.competitor3.com Is this a problem? Would it be better for me to switch my company campaigns to track subdomains too, or to switch my competitor tracking to root domains. This is probably pretty rudimentary, but it never even occurred to me until just now. I realize that if I switch to subdomains for my own company tracking this would necessitate setting up a completely new campaign. This would be a problem because I am maxed out on my 1,000 keywords. Last but not least, does the fact that I have been tracking my own site root domains compared to competitors subdomains mean all of my competitive domain and link analysis is, well, garbage?...because I haven't really been comparing the same things?

SEOMoz Q&A having some issues?
Apologies if this has been asked. I was browsing Q&A and got a Ruby error page, reloaded and everything was fine. However a bunch of the topics are kind of messed up, and it looks like a chunk of them are missing now. For example my 'questions I've answered' section of My Q&A only has the newest question and the oldest question, and when I sort the SEOMoz Tools category by newest I get one recent post and then the next one is from November of last year. You guys having database problems?

Why does SEOMoz crawler ignore robots.txt?
The SEOMoz crawler ignores robots.txt It also "indexes" pages marked as noindex. That means it is filling up the reports with things that don't matter. Is there any way to stop it doing that?

Discrepancies in PA and LRDs reported in different SEOmoz tools
I've noticed a difference in the reported PA and LRD numbers for URLs depending on whether you use Open Site Explorer, or look at the same metrics from within the rankings history (in your campaign set up). I've checked this for a few URLs and what I'm seeing is the reported scores for PA and LRDs is different 9 times out of ten. The PA is sometiomes higher on one report, lower on another, or vice versa. Same for LRDs. I thought it might be because one report was lagging behind and using old data, but that would only make sense if I was seeing an increase in reported LRDs, but it just as often shows a decrease ! Is this just a bug in the campaign>rankings history report or is there a reason for the discrepancies?

SEOMoz PR vs. Google PR
I have the SEO MozBar set up and for one of the sites we are maintaining, it is showing them on a 59 as PA in the MozBar. When I check it on Google PR, it has either no info or a 0. http://www.prchecker.info was one of the ones I found which shows them as 0. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
